The quietest person in my classroom, aside from myself, made me listen to this song ten years ago on msn messenger. You don't always find friends like that.
I first heard Interpol around 2007 , I was battling a crack addiction not ashamed to say it. It took years to get my shit together. Im a successful chef , husband, father, homeowner now. These guys helped me get through some tough times. I never looked back. Thanks Interpol
Congratulations from me too - it's a hard habit to beat, glad you're not ashamed; no-one should be. Glad you have great taste in music which helped get you through.
Bassist is low key crushing it. Candy cane sweater woman dancing with a wall. Lead singer wears sunglasses indoors. Guitarist pulls off mutton chops well. Game over.
Mohammed the strokes. Joy division and Paul banks have similar vocals. Muse (starlight’s a great starting song) Paul banks(the singer of Interpol) released a solo album Arcade fire (They’re album funeral is great) I highly Recommend the smiths songs like this charming man and heaven knows I’m miserable now are great MGMT are good Fleet foxes has very strong vocals Bon iver is also good (I recommend hey ma and for Emma as starter songs) Mac DeMarco is very good it’s more laid back Nad the artics monkeys Finally here are some songs that I recommend for some band The Strokes:You only live once/Reptilia Joy Division:Disorder Fleet Foxes:Mykonos Mac DeMarco:My kind of woman Arctic Monkeys:505/Do I wanna know If you like Interpol you might like this RU-vid channel called middle 8 it’s really good (also me and my brother like Interpol and we both like these bands/Singers)
@@MoahGentlethey're clearly influenced by Joy Division in terms of how the bass lines are constructed and how he sings(like Ian Curtis) and these nothing wrong with that, that's a big compliment
@@user-tw3re9hg3j when the first title was played on theradio´s sounded like echo & the bunnymen till their 3rd LP, i do have all the recordings from joy division and warsaw(the first name) and what came to my mind was echo
Has anyone been listening to this song for over 15 years and that “but it’s different now that I’m poor and aging” line just feels more visceral than ever?
Hey I’m 32 too. Nice. I first heard Interpol in a skating video (not skateboarding but aggressive rollerblading cause I was way cool) when I was 13 in 2003. That same video had songs from the first Yeah Yeah Yeahs ep (I don’t even think Fever to Tell was even out yet) and the first Modest Mouse ep. Saying that video had a huge influence on me is an understatement
I’m 13 years old, I found this band through a school book. I do not regret starting listening to it, it’s my favourite band since several month, and it will stay like this ❤
Sorry but as the people with me say, you're not alone, is a human condition feeling like that for hence it's normal and you aren't a miserable, just keep goin on brou really
Enjoy! My friends showed me their video for 'Evil' when I was 11 almost 20 years ago, we laughed at the video but then realized the music was amazing and I never looked back 🤣
My best friend in high school introduced me to the likes of Interpol and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I dont think I appreciated how great his taste in music was back then but I did soon learn. Sadly he died in 2007 in a motorbike accident and now when I see the singer from Interpol it is actually eery how much he resembles my late dear friend This song would be also something of a comfort in those wild 2004-2010 Saturninan return period of my life, especially those emotional times when relationships would break down or times of loneliness and despair in the twilight
I saw them play in Manchester, back in 2001/02? It was a NME night with 3 other unsigned bands/unknown to me Interpol just blow my mind away, the sound, voice and performance was simply astonishing I got the album & played it for ages, probably the best album of that year
Lyrics I wish I could eat the salt off Of your lost faded lips We can cap the old times Make playing only logical harm We can cap the old lines Make playing that nothing else will change But she can read, she can read, she can read She can read, she's bad She can read, she can read She can read, she's bad Oh, she's bad But it's different now that I'm poor and aging I'll never see this face again You go stabbing yourself in the neck And we can find new ways of living Make playing only logical harm And we can top the old times Clay making that nothing else will change But she can read, she can read, she can read She can read, she's bad She can read, she can read She can, read she's bad Oh, she's bad It's different now that I'm poor and aging I'll never see this place again You go stabbing yourself in the neck But it's different now that I'm poor and aging I'll never see this place again And you go stabbing yourself in the neck It's in the way that she posed It's in the things that she puts in my head Her stories are boring and stuff She's always calling my bluff She puts, oh, she puts the weights into my little heart And she gets in my room and she takes it apart She puts the weights into my little heart I said, she puts the weights into my little heart She packs it away She packs it away She packs it away She packs it away She packs it away She packs it away She packs it away It's in the way that she walks Her heaven is never enough She puts the weights in my heart She puts, oh, she puts the weights into my little heart

“The post punk revival lasted five minutes, but it was the coolest, most mysterious five minutes of New York music in a decade” -I don’t remember who said this’ll
"Meet Me In the Bathroom" by Elizabeth Goodman is a great memoir about this NY music scene right after 9/11. I really enjoyed the read; hard to believe that was 20 years ago.
I was in NYC in the winter of 2002, not a very nice period for me for a number of reason. I entered a music shop (a big one, near Union Square, a Tower Records perhaps?). Interpol's debut was on a listening station. I listened to it. I will probably never forget that moment.
The feelings and nostalgia this song floods into my chest and brain really is overwhelming, I can never play this song too many times it’s just timeless and magical the power it holds.
The bass is a beautiful instrument you guys. That first part of the bass line in this song is so pretty, almost like a sound that you’re trying to reach someone, like yearning for someone or something you can’t have...
When I discovered Interpol I didn’t know what I was in for. I started with evil and started to really like that song, I had a quick look on my Deezer flow and obstacle 1 had been recommended to me. I listened to it for the first time and was mesmerised by the whole track. I went on to listen to their whole discography and pick out my favourites, and almost learn them all off by heart on the drums. Sam fogarino is honestly one of my favourite drummers ever. This whole band has a distinctive feeling that just can’t nearly be replicated by anything. Turn on the bright lights is now 20 and is honestly the best album I have ever heard. I love Interpol.
I have been listening this song for 20 years and I can play it 10 times in a row 20 years later and the song still fires me up as it did back when. The instruments here are truly astounding.
When I die, Interpol will be played as my casket is lowered into the earth. I don’t know how I found you back in 2002 but my life has been better ever since. Thank you very much, I can never repay you for the joy you bring to my life.
Yes, indeed. That's really accurate dude. By the way, sorry in advance if we seem like spamming. We just wanted to tell you about our music channel. We are Surftons, a post-punk indie band. If you don't mind, please check our latest tracks on our youtube channel. Thank you in advance for your kindness. Have a nice day. ❤️
@The baby he tried to teach us lessons on everything. Honestly idk what the lesson was on these songs were seeing as it was a while ago. But I always loved the songs.
At 25 years, I’m really digging this band more and more. I almost got a chance to see then at The Stone Pony this summer, which might have solidified my appreciation for them.
Got to see Interpol play Turn On The Bright Lights which is one of my favorite albums of all time in its entirety and I still can't believe I got to experience it
the comment is worthwhile - especially when its true - amazing song and amazing band. I have never tired of listening to Interpol or going to see them - Hopelessly devoted interpol fan here.
a guy i had a massive crush on recommended me this album when we were both 16. im 22 now and interpol is one of my favourite bands ever, him and i don’t talk anymore but ill forever be thankful
I can't tell you how many times I've watched this video or listened to this song on RU-vid or with headphones on with my phone, but I love or so much every damn time.
This clip.. the music, the guitar guy moves, the singer, the girl dancing (she is also the video director).... The All band Style... For me, everything is so perfect. I have some kind of obssesion with this song particularly.
Obstacle 1 hits my soul so hard everytime I listen to it. Doesn´t matter if i had listened to it 50 times in a single day, it feels like the first time always
Como que dan ganas de despojarse de ella a lo antihéroe, eligiendo nuestros propios caminos, actitudes... Retrata de forma hermosa la tristeza y la derrota. El ave Fenix. Renacer.
Looking back when this group was coming up along with the strokes, I was a teenager listening to these NYC groups and exploring other groups from the past. As you get older and look back at experiencing all this music, all your left with is the memory of the feeling of how much it radiated and felt hearing certain passages you enjoyed the most.. Great bass playing.
OBRIGADO INTERPOL!
I feel like this is the type of music I would’ve found boring only a few years ago, but now there’s something just so damn magical about it! Glad I found out about this band now and not back then :)
This is the song that got me into Interpol. I discovered it during one of the darkest periods of my life. The nostalgia I get while listening to it is honestly heartbreaking but beautiful, and I love this song.
You should watch Interpol live before he left the band in the years of 2010. I recommend to you Interpol live at Glastonbury 2005 and live at KCRW 2003.
Lindos recuerdos de mi juventud ☺️ Cuando existía la buena música no cabe duda que fuimos afortunados Saludos banda desde mi bella Guatemala 🇬🇹 que viva por siempre el Rock ♥️
