Summary of video: Weber Rinne Normal: Equal in both ears. AC > BC in both ears. Right conductive loss: Lateralize to right BC > AC for right ear Left conductive loss: Lateralize to left BC > AC for left ear Right sensorineural loss: Lateralize to left AC > BC for left ear Left sensorineural loss: Lateralize to right AC > BC for right ear. Symmetrical conductive loss: Equal in both ears. BC > AC in both ears. Thank you doctor, To be honest I still didn't understand why this is happening. I will just memorize this. if BC > AC, why we have conductive loss?

Question: When you do the Rinne test, what the patient have to hear? the sound or the vibration of the steel when you put in on the mastoid process?. and another question: do you have to count the seconds that the patient hear in the second part of the Rinne test? how many seconds is enough?

Great session but I have question about laterlization. For example leterlized right ear why we have to do Renni test just for right ear? Why we can't do for both even R laterlized?
@mraporargot
@mraporargot 3 года назад
You should prob do both anyway.

First of all, great explanation, thank you. My question: In the last case, could it also be "central hearing loss", or a lesion of the auditory cortex ?
@keithbryanvillanueva1419
@keithbryanvillanueva1419 2 года назад
In my opinion, if it's a lesion on auditory cortext then the patient will not percieve any air and bone conduction at all. Because higher sensory neurons wont be able to process it. Pls correct me if i am wrong sir
@aidanomaille3709
@aidanomaille3709 3 года назад
really good explanation but I still have one question. If the sound lateralized to the left side for example, and they were found to have conductive loss in the left ear, then shouldn't they have heard it better in the right ear in the first place?
@TheRNgrl
@TheRNgrl 3 года назад
No, because with conduction loss, the bone conduction still gets through to the inner ear. I watched a different video about this and it said that it is a phenomenon that causes trapped sound, in a way, so that effected side sounds louder with the weber test.
