Interstate 30 West - Dallas / Forth Worth (DFW), Texas - 2018/04/06 

Between Fort Worth and Dallas as a backbone freeway between both those core cities is the Tom Landry Hwy, formerly known as the DFW Tpke. It was completed in 1957 as a toll road and tolls were removed 20 years later. It was signed as I-20 at first until it was rerouted to the southern part of the metroplex and I-30 was signed as a link between Fort Worth and Dallas. In 2001, it was renamed after Tom Landry to honor his life and he was the head coach of the NFL's Dallas Cowboys between 1960 and 1988. Speaking of which, it was renamed a year after his death from leukemia at age 75.

Excellent video. You can see DFW isn't completely flat especially when you start going west you can see topography changes. An hour west of Fort Worth and you'll find Palo Pinto mountains.

It's definitely true when they say everything's bigger in Texas, at least where highway features are concerned. Those massive interchanges are simply breathtaking to look at, just the sheer scope of some of them. They have an architectural beauty that I find very interesting. I would love to experience driving these amazing roads when I get the opportunity to travel again.

This is how I approached Dallas about 3 years ago and this was really familiar. Hopefully I’ll make this soon :)

That drive between Arlington and Dallas has to be one of my favorites in the entire DFW area. The reversible express lanes and high-mast lighting is quite reminiscent of driving in Houston, though the feel from Belt Line Road to Loop 12 west of downtown is basically a suburban freeway that seems almost rural (that's because the freeway cuts across the Trinity River floodplain, which has remained undeveloped for obvious reasons). Now if they would improve 30 further west in Tarrant County between Arlington and Fort Worth, and removed some bottlenecks on I-30 west of downtown Fort Worth, I would be quite happy. Also that segment between 360 and PGBT/161 needs work as well (and that isn't included in the current 30/360 interchange project, I believe). Though it rarely generates backups since it's not heavily trafficked, I would also like to see the bottleneck seen at very end of this video (I-20 eastbound in Benbrook) where you have 5-6 lanes (2 from I-20, 3-4 from I-820) that quickly drop to 3 fixed as well. This will be important when major developments start occurring to the west, and they have already started with the Walsh Ranch project near Aledo. I-20 between Benbrook and Hulen Street in Fort Worth (just east of there) already sees some heavy traffic to my understanding. Widening I-30's westernmost section will be critical as well; that is, from I-30's terminus with I-20 towards 820, namely the 4 lane section from Spur 580 to I-820.

Well done Scott and both Dallas Texas & Los Angeles California freeways beat their equivalent Northeastern United States & Toronto Ontario freeway networks because they might have been worked on the past 15-20 years ago example is the I-405 I-105 to US-101 in Los Angeles ca or I-30 DFW area

I-30 is a very Ugly Freeway East of Downtown Dallas, definately needs to be Reconstructed sometime. But Great Video and the Music!!!

I30 is toll road fast

It's a happening freeway. Lots of things going on: massive interchanges, exits, entrances, etc. It's non-stop. European freeways are so boring compared to this.
