Watching this interview, I am now totally impressed with Alice Krige. Here, we get to see someone who is genuine and down to earth. She has a way of setting your mind at ease and you get the feeling you could spend a nice afternoon hanging out with her. Yet, the character she plays, as the Borg Queen, totally gives you the creeps. This is a testament to her great acting ability as you can see she is not playing her own personality, as a lot of big name actors in Hollywood tend to do. But, she is clearly playing a role that far distant from her own self and truly unique character at that, so there is no outside reference material to which she can use to build her character. So, considering that as an obstacle to overcome, what she was able to accomplish in playing her role was astounding, to say the least. I give total props to Alice for excellence in acting.
Alice was so great as the Borg Queen. Very beautiful and her voice is so great in the ability to be seductive, and yet frighting at the perfect time. I remember her in the 80s as the "Ghost" in "Ghost Story," which still give me shivers sometimes when I think about it. Especially when her head pops up in the back of the car as it is going into the icy lake. Very beautiful.
Ghost Story is the first thing that caught my attention. I forget most often that she has been in a lot of films and TV series I really enjoy. She adds something to every one of them.
I met her and her husband while they were workshopping a film using actual prisoners as actors for a piece called Jail Caesar. This was in Drumheller Institution, Alberta Canada. I can say, that they both came accross as incredibly decent human beings. Much respect.
As a person of the 90s, I remember how much I looked forward to the 'First Contact'. Right from the music overture to her Borg Queen role, I was haunted by the movie.
Damn, she's beautiful, measured, engaging, articulate, sensual, feminine and highly talented. Bad-ass woman! Great interviewer too, he asked the questions and was patient enough to let Alice think and speak. Respect.
This has to be the most lovely, intelligent, confident, and sexy woman I've ever seen! Every time I run across a movie she has starred in, I instantly recognize her. Simply breathtaking!
I was sad that they didn't use her as the Borg Queen in Picard seas. 2. Yes she is quite a bit older, but she's still in amazing shape and could have easily pulled it off.
She plays the Borg queen very well. Excellent character. So smooth and believable. And Very very sexy! (For a woman with tubes coming out of her head and grey skin)
@@selenec5762 The first time I saw her was in Ghost Story. Also, I've been wanting to see her other films such as Sleepwalkers. I guess I'm just an easy sell of women with brains and beauty.
"I will take you places where you've never been. I will show you things that you have never seen and I will see the life run out of you" - Alice Krige (Ghost Story)
I wish that shows like Star Trek allowed more characters to retain their own accents instead of expecting them to speak like Americans. Is there any reason that the Borg Queen couldn't have been South African? Ms. Krige's manner of speaking is clear and concise.
I don't hear much of a South African accent at all, she sounds mostly British to me. But, I agree regardless, the Borg Queen would have been perfectly fine as a Brit
She is such an ultimate perfect lady villan, I love seeing her be bad! Please give us more creepy ladies, Alice. You are beautiful in such a special way. Imagine you as a really creepy dominatrix...ahhh. I would be helpless, haha.
Watch OA! We've always knew her as a vilan but she plays a wonderful worried mother, she's a great actress! Hum the edit maybe the concerned mother is another way to describe the Borg Queen!?
@@tremorsfan I know. I'm watching that movie right now (waiting for the bandwidth to pick up again). It is creepy but astounding colouring and textures in the forest scenes. It's a relief to come here and see she is really quite lovely; and my age. Dang. Gives me hope LOL.
