Dr Elizabeth Bright is the author of the menopause book “Good Fat is Good for Women”. There were many aspects of this book I thought were excellent, and appreciate Dr Bright joining me to talk about menopause, hormones, including thyroid and other aspects of health in this podcast.
Dr Bright is an osteopath and naturopath and works with her clients using these modalities along with personalised nutritional plans to create long-term healing and good health.
She is turning 60 in 2023 and decided to write a book about menopause following her own experience. She came to realise that the symptoms associated with menopause are caused by a lack of adequate nutrition and abuse of our stress response system, rather than a reduction in sex hormones.
One of the chapters I most enjoyed in her book was about the medicalisation of women’s health since the time of Hippocrates and naturally occurring events such as menopause, become “problems” to be managed.
Dr Bright now lives in Italy. She is the mother to 3 children and a Master in Chou Jia Kung Fu. She now engages in paddling boarding and cycling. She switched to a carnivore diet in 2015, when she went into menopause, to assist with her own health and healing.

I have hypothyroid and terrible menopause symptoms. I have a very high stress carrier that will hopefully be slowing down in a couple of years. I started carnivor a month ago and I feel MUCH better. But now I am working on gaining control of each issue and getting off all these meds. I am so thankful for Dr Bright and all that she is doing. Buy the book. It’s worth it.

@@flugmodus9214 omg…this has been an answer to prayer. Down 30 lbs. 30 more to go. Dry eyes all healed, itchy for 5 years certain area all gone, no itchy at all any longer, BP 125/70 had been 150/80, hair growing again, no more breathing issues, allergies terrible here in Northern Va and I’m barely experiencing any issues. I may stay carnivore for the rest of my life. I mainly eat fatty beef, bacon, eggs ghee. Thank you for asking! Oh my A1C is 5.5 down from 5.9 in September and had been as high as 6.1 some years. This is awesome. Not easy at first but once you see how you are healing there is no going back. My lipid panel good. Cholesterol 217, LDL 125, HDL 76, triglycerides 91. I have to look more into the numbers. Not sure if that’s good or not but my Dr did not seem concerned. 🙏

@@darlenesnyder4083 that’s fantastic! I’m very happy for you! I went from low carb to keto to ketovore and finally now carnivore in the last w years and have had great results as well, but I have to say carnivore which has been the last couple of weeks has been a bumpy road, I think it’s a healing crisis. I’m also working with a carnivore naturapath for my thyroid . But I feel like I’m down the right path, and if it is such an intense healing crisis it just goes to show that I caught it before it just in time(hopefully!) 😊

The fear is real now if you dont take hormones like you said… heart attack, osteoporosis, cancer , too low prog, too high e2…. Frightening I’m new to this whole fat meat thing which my kids have been at me about for years as I went vegan and was always always hungry and always snacking I feel so much better eating meat and fat except I have to take enzymes ox bile with betaine etc to digest it all. I struggle with the balance of fat to protein though. I need pictures of food examples . I’m 54 and still cycling Awesome info Thank you
