That escalated quickly. From some fans ignorantly thinking $30m to have to compete with a 4 year $45.5M a season offer. This is why the Raptors traded the best defender in the league to the team suing them. Masai didn’t want to be forced to over pay or lose OG for nothing. Especially after losing Van Vleet that way. The question is if the Knicks sign that contract does that mess up team chemistry? I mean the best players on the team took discounts and will look at the fact they are way better than OG but paid way less. This could really sour the chemistry of this team. OG spent his whole NBA career except this season with Nurse as his coach or assistant coach so he’s got a closer relationship with him than Thibs. Starting to worry about this.

A player option for OG in the scenario Fred outlined is not the end of the world. In many cases when a contract takes a player through most of their prime and ends with a player option, if they've performed well the player will decline it + then the team can re-sign them for more years at a lower annual average value.

You cannot pay OG more than Brunsons' & JuJus' extension. That would put us past the 2nd apron without a chip in 25/26. That's crazy!!!

I’m gonna start @35 per. 4 for 140. Then I’m adding provision and incentives (games played, dpoy etc) to make it 40 per. For a total of 4 for 160.

Not to mention this does nothing for the Knicks or their cap space. All bonuses no matter how unrealistic have to be counted against the cap so if he missed half a season the only benefit would be the Knicks (Dolan) pays him less and their luxury tax bill would be less (again saving Dolan money) The Knicks couldn’t use that cap space to sign another player. So that is pointless unless it’s about protecting Dolan’s money.

EXACTLY this who in their right mind is going to have a taste of the Eastern conference finals or at least almost being there on a winning team would take money to go to Detroit thinking they can write that ship by themselves lmao That's crazy talk OG ain't going nowhere. And no one's offering the max either This is all for media talk and Knicks for clicks. Trading Randle for Paul George doesn’t make any sense to me. Would be incredibly short sighted and Nets like to ruin the culture of the team for a 35 year old player in his decline. I’d rather them trade for KAT and im not a fan of that either. Run it back with the same exact team and explore what you can get for Mitch and Bogie. We almost made the ECF with half our team out. Don’t get impatient. They have enough. If Randle doesn’t want to sign a reasonable extension, let him walk after this year and we have the cap space and picks for a move next offseason

No executive in their right mind is going to offer OG a max contract without any stipulations that favors the team lol All this OG stuff is ridiculous He's going to resign. And he will resign on a team friendly contract. No one's giving him max contract with the amount of games he misses and his injuries. Yes we all know it's true he is a godsend to this team but let's not act like he has us in a chokehold. He damn near tried to play on a messed up hamstring in a game 7 One game away from Eastern conference finals. You think he's leaving New York for Philly? The team that he beat lol Detroit? Lol bottom of the lead team? Get out of here
