The book of Joshua has a date stamp in it at Joshua 10. It is a lunar eclipse that is out of phase, and we can actually see it by using astronomy programs. It Occurred on April18-19 1401 B.C. The whole world would have seen it. Only that date fits all of the components listed in Joshua and the book of Jasher. That places the exodus 40 years earlier at around 1441 B.C.
I know I'm late to the game and they know more now, but I had a professor that did his dissertation on Zertal's findings. Basically he was adamant that the Exodus late date is historical fact based on the Ramesses scarab. My questions usually surrounded the round altar and he never wanted to answer anything beyond the scarab. Like I said, he did his dissertation on this, so I maintain that many archeologists don't like it when something new that upsets their published work speaks against that work, hence the comment on Bill Devers being "open" to this finding.
Given Felix Hofflmayer's correction to MBA II of 120 years and the interviewee's LBA I B (assumed to be -1420) then we have a LBA I B corrected to -1540. This corresponds to the best estimates of the entry to Canaan of -1579 (Exodus) plus 40 years to give -1539. Seems an accurate identification of the Joshua altar has been made. Well done!
The Square altar, with 4 horns, would have been necessary for Sin offerings. Interestingly the earlier altar mentioned in Deuteronomy was only to be used for fully burnt Olah offerings and Peace offerings, neither for which a square altar is required.
It really doesn't...and I say that as a Believer. It may prove Israelites were worshipping Jehovah in the 1400s BCE (rather than some Canaanite deity as some skeptics claim the Israelites were merely Canaanites) at the very place the Book of Joshua says they were, and even in the way it says they were, uttering legally binding curses from the Law of Moses as commanded by Jehovah. The artifact shows the Israelites had their own alphabet - and I bet they're the selfsame Semites who invented the world's first Alphabet while in Egypt. The timing fits. So this find really proves something more human, ie specific humans who revered a specific God. If I had somehow made the artifact and was still alive by some miracle of The Almighty, the artifact would merely be proof of my religious beliefs and the reliability of a certain ancient record of people engaging in said religion. I would say, though, that when you have a certain heap of evidence across millenniums that demonstrates the Bible is accurate on so many things, its claims of the Divine do become logically more credible. Besides, Creation reveals the Creator, too.
The Ramesses II scarab has been re-evaluated by another expert and may be Thutmoses III instead. But even if it is Ramesses II definitively, that is already consistent with the pottery. Moreover, there are two altars, one from ca. 1250 BC and a smaller circular altar made of unhewn stones underneath it. Additionally, the wet sift revealed more LB diagnostics than Zertal originally found. A quick look at maps shows that Mt Gerizim is not far from Tuthmose III's route to defeat the Canaanite/Mitanni(?) coalition. It is also not far from the Egyptian fortress of Beit Shean. I would hazard a guess, assuming Megiddo Battle took place in -1512, that any seals and other artifacts related to Tuthmose III could originate with officials posted to Beit Shean or military personnel scouting and securing passage to Aruna Pass (Ara today) at the time of battle. I feel pretty sure Beit Shean would have been acquainted with T III officials no earlier as he was only 40 years old in -1512 and therefore able to command the army and take more senior duties required of kingship.
Doesn't Israel has the scanning machines too which they used to decipher the bronze book of treasure? Why use the Prague technology? And it's already deciphered within a month.
Correction to Stripling - ancient Egyptian IS a phonetic alphabet (consonants and syllables). Correction to Stripling - the Egyptians also had hieratic alphabet, which only had a hundred or so characters, instead of 1,500 for hieroglyphs. Also, Stripling does not mention that Hebrew-Aramaic is a daughter language of Egyptian. I have a Egyptian-Hebrew dictionary, with something like 500 words that are the same. Which is exactly what you would expect - the Israelites lived in Egypt for 400 years. Joseph was the prime-minister of all Egypt. Their language would have been predominantly Egyptian - just like all the Germans, Italians and Slavs living in America. P.S. Yah is a reference to the Egyptian Moon-god. Ralph

@(Genesis 12:3) Divine Oath to Abraham The sincerity of God in the Genesis 12:3 promises given to Abraham for the benefit of all mankind, beginning first with the Jews and then to the Gentiles, as noted of God's faithfulness: where it's again spoken in Genesis 18:18, Gen. 22:18, Gen. 26:4, Gen. 27:29, and Genesis 28:14. And also mentioned in Numbers 24:9, some 800 hundred years later after the death of Abraham, when that greedy man named Balaam voiced God's promise in the wilderness. More explicitly, Jeremiah in 610 b.c., who had it recorded in verse 4:3 despite the Babylonian seize. 1900 centuries ago unto now, Peter addressed the crowd at the gate of Beautiful in Acts 3:25. And Paul preached it in 62 a.d while admonishing the bewitched Galatians in verse 3:8. But then in 1983, with much persecution and controversy from his own, the late great Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, founder of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews Organization, began proclaiming his ministry to all mankind, and the rest is history. Rabbi Eckstein's earnest endeavor has made Genesis 12:3 and the Isaiah 58 promises a beacon in the reality of God's word of truth that's now and forever blessing those that bless Israel today. Paslms 112:9. Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein's success under scores God's faithfulness until there are a host of legally registered Jewish Organizations who compliment the Humanitarian words of Genesis 12:3 in services to all the world whether they be friend or foe as God had promised in times passed, " in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed. Lots of Pharaohs and Egyptians had that MSS/Moses/Masis element in their names. It just means 'born of'. Ahmoses, Thutmosis, Dudimose, Sobekmose, Hapimose etc
In the Secret Book of John (2nd century CE), a Gnostic work from the Nag Hammadi library, Yahweh is another name for Cain, who is the offspring of Yaldabaoth and Eve, ruling over the elements of fire and wind.
