I appreciate your videos (been watching since 2011). Your videos are what helped me transition into UX UI Design from a Graphic Designer and land 6 figure opportunities.

Hi there, Mike, that's really helpful insight, and it's cool that you leave room for error cause I guess, we all as designers struggle with perfectionism which is a bad thing sometimes and can stop you from doing anything) Thanks a lot and have a nice day

Hi Mike, thanks again for this video. Can you make a video on what all methodologies a UX designer usually uses to conduct research? I know it depends on the topic of research but just wanted to have a broader idea of frequently used research methodologies by a UX designer. Thank you

The elevator pitch is quite different than the 40-60min presentation one Google designer recommended

Question. When creating your portfolio presentations what format do you use? Do you just share your screen and go over your portfolio website or do you make a powerpoint? I'm still confused by the structure.

I just bring up my portfolio and scroll through my projects (on my website). But its truly up to the person. If you wanted to create a powerpoint, you can do that. As long as you're able to seen the screens as you talk through it is really all that's needed.

Hey Mike great video. What if it’s a personal project? What can I substitute since the user is really me?
@MikeLocke
@MikeLocke 5 лет назад
I would be honest and start with yourself as the user. This is understandable for personal projects. But I would add that you've surveyed friends and family (wink wink). Its always good to throw in that you've surveyed friends and family for "user feedback".

Do I need to show user research, user interviews & usability testing data to the interviewer?
@MikeLocke
@MikeLocke 4 года назад
If you have any data from research, it's definitely helpful to discuss when presenting projects. But I typically don't discuss or show any research as I don't do extensive research or testing, I just speak through common sense scenarios. Many times, that's good enough.
