There's a few guys I'd live to see in Hoes show! Dondi would have been absolutely perfect for the show! Randomly met him and Ad-Rock in NYC in 1997 just sitting on a porch. And for 10 minutes they respectfully spoke with me, I learned so much shit about The Scene that I never knew before! He was a true professor! RIP Dondi. ✌️
I met seen on the train going to the Bronx. I had my black book with me and he asked to see it. I didn't know who this guy was but I though he was a cop cuz he was white and asking to see my book, but I let him see it he saw some pieces and then turned to a blank page and did a throw up on that page. Then when I saw the name I knew who he was cuz of the name. It was meeting a star. He was maybe a couple years older than I was , so he was probably 20 at the time
SEEN!! is the true pioneer of graffiti art!! he is the master of masters!! it's so true what he said on the last 20 seconds just like a super hero no one knew his true identity
He's very right the ends the clip saying that mysterious element is gone and it is. I was writing in the 90s and even back then that element was fading. Too many people out tagging wanting attention no matter what kind of attention they just want it. Like these media whores who post shit all the time. Everybody wants attention that's why we all have social media. To be authentic and true to graffiti you stay quiet and silent and write. You get up and shut the fuck up that's it. When you pass by someone and they point and you hear them ask out loud about your art and you pass by smiling and keep to yourself. Yup that's graffiti at its purest form.
+Lida Mam It is. but rarely are people pure. I mean think about it. You are doing something illegal. Whether or not you feel it should be is a moot point. And criminals love to talk about their exploits. I've been into Graffiti for the quite some time. although I took a break for 4 years due to a vacation in Iraq. Recently I want to get back into it. But still only 4-5 people know who the names writer actually is. I don't feel like "hey this is pure" I feel like this is being a smart criminal.
I think seen was talking about hos own art ''the pureness'' is gone because he's no longer a small writer when everything was new and mysterious... now to him that ''magic'' aspect of wrinting is gone... but on the other hand he gets to still paint and he as already grey hair. and even more by compromising his anonymous stance he can pass on to other writers that are anonymous all that knowledge he has and that passion. cause he has a lot of passion and love for graffiti, to me that's tru graffiti right there. god bless him
The pureness never went away. He just hangs out with art critics and old school writers too much. The kids are still experiencing it from the pureness aspect.
@@atlemartoresonfjeldstad4557 I got back into graff and im in my early 30s.. feeling is still the same if not hyped more because the net is blowing up graff.
@@exemptexploration6722 Late 30`s here and got back in 3 years ago. My can control is down but my passion is up. Started doing some mini bombing as well. It`s fun.
i remember seeing seen ezo sae sen 4 laroc ja jaone cope2 and many others growing up in nyc in the late 70's-80's and i wish i could remember more...those were the days and now is the time for everyone to get their shine dj d-fine 87 thru 89...
Завидую тем кто стояли у истоков граффити, тогда это был вызов, сейчас это стало популяризированным мэйнстримом. Комерцией, пусть и с многими хорошими художниками. Эпоха ушла, сильно претерпел в своём виде.
Props to Stan Lee n guys *a lot* SEEN made me paint cans n gave subs to my drawing crew back in the days like Warhol history. A good lesson, settled my RAGE...
+craig styles Banksy's a fucking stencil jerk..There's thousands of these twits globally that all think there shit don't stink..You my friend are one the clueless..Go back to banksy land
that would be cool and he would be like fuking millionaire then. but I guess he already makesa lot of money even anonymous he has some art dealers that work with him I heard... so he best stay like that an d avoid teh hordes od haters and fans... who needs that shit right? Ii'm more a graffiti guy and I don't think banksy is street art. I think he's straight up tru graffiti. just add the dots and you'll see for yourself. like society turned banksy into that ''street art idol'' shit that's not his fault. maybe he's a douchebag or whatver lol so are many writers who cares. to me he's a writer he's part of graffiti.
SEEN...PJ...DUSTER... ALL THOSE GUYS WERE AHEAD OF THEIR TIMES IN THE EARLY 80S.. I THOUGHT BLADE AND COMET GOT MORE ATTENTION .. DONT KNOW WHY...THE UA CREW WAS 100 TIMES BETTER AND MORE TALENTED...
For, I don't know..maybe 28 years now, I have NEEDED to know the story behind the Hollywood Joint! That piece is definitely the perfect example for the phrase Out For Fame.... When I saw it in 9th grade, I went all in in the the NJ/NYC Graffiti scene and have never looked back almost 3 decades later. So big thanks to Seen for lighting that fire in my heart!
