Ashwin looking at Ratna when she was back from sister's wedding... his eyes...just so captivating. The love is just flowing in his eyes. I repeated that particular scene several times. I watched the movie thrice. I consciously made an effort to move on from SIR because it made feel utter sad that Ashwin never exists in real.
I Think the director can do another round .. showing ... how it evolves.. Ratna and Ashwin as character have expressed themselves so well .. this definitely needs a round 2.
Yup! A sequel which covers their long distance friendship, her struggle & triumphs on the journey to become a designer, her denial to take it forward and his subdued pursuance. Finally, when she transforms her life to a point where she feels comfortable to date him. And finally see them leave for NY together !! Hey, I should start writing a script 😆
i have same voice with same crack and emotion....introvert/selective mutism...which makes us think a lot before uttering a word...yes its sometime painful bcz of the way society takes/treat us...but its okay.
After seeing this movie I fell in love with Ashwin . People like him are very few . Honestly i haven't seen any of his movies but now am so eager to watch his movies .
Her saying “Ashwin” at the end is symbolic of her feeling/acknowledging to herself that she is now equal to him in their relationship. It doesn’t not necessarily mean that she is accepting his offer to be in a romantic relationship.
No it means she loved him. She came back to thank him as a "Sir" but when she saw he had moved out she realized she will lose a rare city man who loved and took care of her as a man takes care of his lover and she started crying realizing her mistake. She could have simply answered "Sir" but she called him by his name to let him know that she loves and wants him back. He likely flew back from New York right away
@@alexnice2221 That is certainly one way to think about the climax but I think there is more to the use of "Sir" in the movie. I consider "Sir" as symbolism for the hierarchical divide that exists between an employee and employer, or haves and have nots in our society. Once Ratna is on her own and employed by someone else, she is free to not use "Sir". She can call him by his name without necessarily falling in love with him. I mean yes, she could be in love with him, but it is not necessary for her to fall in love to call him by his name.
@@-Neutron-Star if that was the case, she will still call him Sir. She couldnt feel like his equal career wise because he used his connections to get her the job, so he was still her boss, career wise. She called him Ashwin, to indicate she wants him as a lover. The empty apartment made her recognize her loss
@@alexnice2221 wow; seriously?? Just coz he gave her a reference Ratna would have to now consider him his boss?! Ratna is a much stronger woman than u have understood her to be. I believe Ratna is ambitious and very self-respecting woman who is also very self-aware. You and I certainly differ in our understanding this character and therefore, are likely to disagree interpretation on the ending of the movie.

I just love the scene when ashwin kissed ratna on forehead and then on lips . It's was very lovely moment full on compassion and love and sensitive at the same time
Vivek Gomber is a gentleman. What an impressive calm personality he has❤️ Totally crushing on him and his voice 😍 Watching all his movies like COURT, BOMBAY BEGUMS, A SUITABLE BOY and whatever he'll do in the future. He has got a bright future ahead for sure !😊☮️
In my opinion the one word that touched me most, is when the friend asked about Ashwin's feeling towards Ratna, if it was love, he answered with full honesty "trust" ! Yes, trust is most important in every, EVERY relationship
Vivek acted fabulous in Suitable Boy and made me dislike him and then he reined in his acting in Sir and made me fall head over heels in love with him. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️
Ratna is gorgeus! Marvelous acting! I've just watched at cinema in Rio de Janeiro and came to RU-vid searching for scenes of the movie, sort of trying to "rewind" time...❤️ One of the best Indian movies I've watched!
Yes I agree. Many remark on Vivek's acting and surely he is wonderful but Tillotama is magnificent in her simple rendition of this wonderful woman (Ratna). I believe that Ashwin would not have been so effective if he did not have Tillotama by his side x
What a beautiful, emotionally driven film. I loved how the situation brought both of the characters together, yet the intimacy between both takes a slow and steady path and keeps them aware about their intricate social thread. The most striking point? Both the leads, Ratna - Ashwin they were immersed into their self so well. Secondly, it can be a real story! Real, yes this very Indian urban story. The woman in Ratna is actually very aware of her social upbringing, what is good and what is bad for a girl trying to make both ends meet, yet keeping her head held high. The best part, the silence, those long pauses. It's like, everything else just disappears apart from those two people. Lovely.. Lovely movie! 💙
Just watched SIR! What a lovely movie❤️❤️. The treatment was so subtle and the unspoken moments between the protagonists were just amazing. Alas! No resolution in the end leaves you wanting for more.
My interpretation of the ending is different. She earlier didn't want him to contact her but she went to his house in the end to meet him only to find his door locked. And after a few moments, he contacts her from NY. She replies by calling him 'Ashwin' and not Sir. Maybe he would come back and they would finally be able to accept their love, regardless. 💗🙏
Just watched the movie after watching this. It’s a masterpiece. I was eager to watch it for Tillotama but now I’m a fan of Vivek Gomber too. Wondering why I didn’t know of him. Have to look him up and watch all his movies. Both of them just lived these characters. Kudos to the director Rohena for handling a sensitive subject in such a subtle way. It touched my heart and I will watch it again. Thirsting for more from this dynamic combo.
Last night, my wife and I watched the movie and it was such a treat. While the entire movie came together, Tilottama's honesty was truly touching. Wonderful movie.
They make a great pair off screen too..such eloquent speakers both..how fondly they talked about their craft.. is amazing.. (she is giving me Meghan markle vibe) .rare to find such artists in Bollywood.. hope they both continue to get relevant work.🙂🙃
Breathtakingly beautiful and soulful film. Both actors were superb. The strength of the character Ratna..commands all your respect and admiration. The sweetness of Ashwin's character simply floors you. Just the way he calls her name each time, conveys the depth of his love and respect for her. Beautiful beyond words.
I randomly picked this movie today watched it in the morning and now watching again at night....I fell in love with the movie, with Ratna, with ashwin and I don't know what else ...vivek is such a wonderful actor
My favorite is Ashwin. The way he calls Ratna, treats her politely, takes her sides and lastly his unconditional LOVE 💘for Ratna is mind blowing. His dusky voice also very impressive. I just Love Ashwin, the evergreen character
This movie kept me spellbound on so many levels. Firstly the actors portrayed their characters effortlessly. I'm settled in Mumbai and I've seen maids just like Ratna, guys just like Ashwin; the income disparity and the different lifestyles. So masterful was the acting and directing that I was completely immersed in their world and I forgot I was watching a movie. I'm so glad I came across this movie. 👍💗 Thank you, Netflix.
A beautiful, beautiful film; I have seen it twice within months of each screening; as Tillotama says there's nowhere to hide, a small set and generally only two people. The silences and body language are so powerful, truly this is a love story that made me weep for the sheer beauty of the magic between these two actors. Blessings to both of you always.
i just fell in love with the character 'Ashwin'.. Vivek Gomber's acting was so simple yet so captivating. So natural..so soothing..it just took my heart 💕💕
That gift scene made each other to feel better..Her priceless reaction made him happy after longtime and that word Ratna....wow no words to express the feeling of audience..it just made us to feel something inside.. that last call one word Ratna with his voice ful of love just made us to watch that movie again and again... thank you so much for the best film...💕
Tillotama and Vivek... both of you were supperrr awesome...You've played it so well. Every detail....like putting down a phone carefully... holding saree pleats.... like a real life Ratna would do...Tillotama.. You've played it so well... Such a powerful personality.....so detailed... You got into the skin of the character.... Luv u Tillotama.... Vivek your intonation for various emotions was so touching... Your peronality was so different from the one in "A Suitable Boy".... I instantly fell in love with your character. A tight hug from me to Ratna and Ashwin.
The movie in one word. Awesome. Looking at movie was like nothing like a movie but real life event. Such a natural acting. Tillotama already seen her in monsoon wedding outstanding actor. Bhai i have a huge crush on Vivek gomber after watching this film...Ah ,the kind of guy he is, the gentleness in his voice, his calm nature ,his love and his simplicity, he was a MAN not a BOY in the movie.....❤❤❤
Watched the movie. The acting was so good that they felt real people-not characters. The direction was so subtly detailed. I would highly recommend it.

Today watched this movie... Everytime Ashwin says Ratna oh my god is an art🥺🥰..... Ashwin so gentle walk his voice his mannerism my god Soooo beautiful🥺🥺 love from Tamil Nadu
Yearning for part 2, but guess won't happen, she confesses her love for him by calling his name...Ashwin... But not all love has to end up in marriage, they helped each other conquer back their individual lives ... His love for ny, writing and her dream of tailoring/designing...must confess I love with Ashwin s character.. Do they exist... Tilotamma was brilliant as well..
Watched it yesterday on Netflix. The. movie is just awesome. And true... Ashwins voice is just too deep. It doesn't get out of your head soon. And Tilotaa was super great. Even after you have watched the movie, it doesn't get out of your head and heart... great.. movie to watch...
Both of you did an absolutely outstanding job executing this script, it was so authentic and real, we never saw Tillotoma and Vivek, we were totally into Ratna and Ashwin, I think I will forever hear Ashwin saying Ratna in all my years to come. Thank you so much, and much thanks to Ms Gera for casting you and for her direction. Watched it many times, A++ job!!!
Here after watching the movie. Oh! I loved every bit of it! The raw and the real feel of the movie is just as captivating as the performance of Tillotama and Vivek. One of the best movies I've watched in a long time.
