I’ve never wanted a literary agent more than after hearing this guy tell me why having one isn’t necessary. I’m being sincere.

This is very comforting. I live in Egypt and I wish I could publish a book in America even if this requires going all the way across the Atlantic but I always thought this was not possible. Now I know publishing from a different country is! I can finally sleep and continue my manuscript in peace. Thank you, team Epic reads!

Can you do a video on how to get a job in a publishing agency? I'm currently thinking about career options and I'm starting to seriously consider pursuing a career in the publishing industry as a publicist or something. I just want to know specific requirements and things that would look good on an application. For example would being a book tuber and reviewer boost my chances.

Epic Reads, you're fantastic. And thank you for answering my questions! (Perfect name pronounciation, by the way, Margot!) One day I hope to step forth into the magical world of publishing, and this video has inspired me even more to pursue my goal.

Ironically enough, I just checked out a book from the library last week about publication, and covered a lot of what you guys talked about in this video. It felt great to be reassured that what I've been reading up is correct. I also definitely grabbed a few tips here as well! Thanks so much! :)

Fun fact: An agent's opinion doesn't really represent the general population's interests. There are many well known books that were rejected numerous times by renowned agents and are now best-sellers. So if you think that an agent's opinion validate the quality of your work, prepare yourself to be torn appart. Because many of them become agents through connections and they are just there to fill in the blanks.

For last 15 years I tried to get an interview with literary agent, regarding my unique escape story frim Cold War era. Not one of those I approached looked at my synopsis. Then I got tired of begging for attention, and put it on Amazon. You can find it there under: Extreme Zip Lining, if you want to check it out.

This was very useful. Agent seems like a genuine guy who wants to help authors get published. The creator of this channel, despite seeming sweet and ridiculously attractive, is somewhat distracting. You have this agent here trying to give people like me important advice and you're miming out the things he's saying and trying to be funny. You're incredibly endearing and you should keep being you, but for this video I would have dialled it down a little. Either way, thanks for sharing this interview.

i have been searching query tracker and i find some agents that are in my genre which is thriller/horror and that is their specialty but i also wanted to write some different genres and those agents are not there specialty so do i have to find a different one and have two or do I use the one i'm going to have
@spencerbrown3875
@spencerbrown3875 3 года назад
Just go for one agent that’s the best for the project you’re going to submit to them. When they give you “the phone call” just ask them about future projects and if they would be comfortable representing a genre they don’t represent. Usually, if they’re not comfortable they would arrange to have a different agent represent the next project.

Sometimes it's annoying how similar some of those stories are to other books. I know there isn't much originality left in the world and a lot of books have ideas in common. But that last one sounded a little like Reboot only with magic instead of scifi.But I have no doubt they are awesome books nonetheless.

To be honest age does not really matter in the publishing industry, if you have a good idea and a well written book that should be all that counts. Although it may be a minor set back in some cases because if you are really young people might doubt your ability to write well.
