Thank you for conducting this interview! It was very informative. It’s always interesting to learn more about how the State Department differentiates from the work USAID does, and that there are more than one or two paths into Foreign Service.

Thank you for this. Have you conducted any interviews that primarily focuses on the pros/cons and/or differences between DOS FSO and USAID FSO?

I have not. Not even sure what that would look like because each FSO, whether DOS or USAID, has a different experience at each post. So it's so so hard to compare.

I am currently a DOS Civil Servant but I would like to transition to the Foreign Service. I am navigating which path to take. Any advice is greatly appreciated. 🙏🏼
