Geographical indications is one of European Union’s most emblematic success stories, says the chair of Parliament’s legal affairs committee, Adrián Vázquez.
The EU recently agreed to extend its scheme of geographical indications to include regional crafts and industrial goods.
In this interview, Vázquez explains how the protection of regional specialities contributes to boosting income, employment and tourism in Europe. He also rejects claims that the scheme disrupts fair competition.
