What makes this legendary is that she tells you one of the very secrets of a long life. That secret being, truly appreciating that life and staying positive. She gives perspective on good and bad and let's everyone know. You just gotta look and acknowledge the good while being aware of the bad. "Perspective is key"

Full of lessons for us all. Amazing how she slid so seamlessly between English and German depending on what she was talking about.

This woman's story is being retold in a theatre play at the Hamburger Kammerspiele now in 2023. I would have travelled anywhere to meet her if I had known about her before, to ask her about my own great grandmother, a musician, who she may have known and last seen in Theresienstadt😢. Highly interesting to hear her thoughts!

One characteristic this Alice Sommer had-and others like her-was _resilience,_ something people are born with, but it can also be taught to young children all the way to adulthood. Resilience is a reflex, like the large balloon clowns that had sand in the bottom....you punched one so that it lay flat on the floor, but it would pop right up. There are things that hit you that make you not ever want to get up again, but that stupid clown-spirit forces you up again....you say, “I can’t go on,” especially at the worst times, you just want to lay there but you have no way to do that. You pop up, cursing.

I think what she enjoyed was - over all - appreciation of things. She even said: there are times when I am actually thankful to have been there [i.e. Teresienstadt] I am more thankful to live than other people are". Is this not in every way extraordinary?!

God, filled with mercy, dwelling in the heavens' heights, bring proper rest beneath the wings of your Shechinah, amid the ranks of the holy and the pure, illuminating like the brilliance of the skies the souls of our beloved and our blameless who went to their eternal place of rest. May You who are the source of mercy shelter them beneath Your wings eternally, and bind their souls among the living, that they may rest in peace. And let us say: Amen. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1k_ZkNA7-cE.html

the great composers couldn't have come out of Asia because at that time they didn't play any classical music or even know the western harmonies or scales. now that they DO know the great western music- they are also composing it.
