I’ve recently started studying tailoring, bespoke suits. After having read his book, it’s interesting seeing the essence of creating a custom suit to a suit of armour are in many ways similar. Regional styles, detailed attention to personal preferences, and so forth. Cheers
I'm so excited about the second book, which if I recall will be about 1450-1500 ish, but by God I can't wait for the third book about imported armour. I want to see some Milanese and Gothic styles :D I really want to get into armouring but currently live in a flat. Maybe in a few years I can finally take it up as a hobby. In the meantime drawing is all I get to do.
Trust me, those drawing skills will come in handy. Being able to draw a piece with all it's lines and dimensions is much faster than playing with steel. It gets the shape in your head.
I am currently reading his book. So well written, so insightful. Regarding XVIth century armour, I think many people like it (how couldn't you? that stuff is georgous) but it is really a cost issue...
Completely agree on the arms and armor book being so thick that you can us it as armor and as a weapon lol. The great knowledge in the book is a bonus to us who love this stuff. Lol
I've been using RU-vid for years but this would be the first time I comment, I can't miss the chance anymore of saying congratulations and thank you for the excellent content you guys have been making. I'm looking forward to all your videos and hopefully will bout with you one day (using the same techniques you've taught me!) Do you plan on covering any bohurt style events such as Battle of the Nations? Cheers!
Thank you for the kind words! We're really happy to hear you've found the channel to be so helpful! 😁 We focus on the documentable historical martial arts (historical treaties) for armoured combat during the middle ages (Harnischfechten). We're looking at historical sources for tournament fighting and have yet to see historical tournaments that fit the current format of HMB/ACL/BoTN. Still sifting through sources. 😉 -Reece/Ben
Hello I would like to ask you a few questions about fighting on horse back ? I am leaning towards the Italian armor. But I will be riding a clydesdale of course I will need armour for him. What is my best course action for that?
Soon...Toby wanted to review it first and he was going to give me the pdf of the slides. Been encountering some errors with my video software for some reason, it's not rendering it properly. But, It's on the priority list 😉-Reece
What part of the world are the members of Pursuing the Knightly Arts from? You guys seem like an awesome group and I’d love to meet other people with the some of the same passions as me.
I thought about the sacrifices for mobility v protection v comfort also applies to weapons too just with different factors. Try and balance too much and you get the spadroon lol.
@@andywilson8698 There's nothing inherently wrong with spadroons, that's just a meme. Contrary to the meme, most spadroons were well liked weapons. It wasn't until the end of the 18th century when they introduced a standard officer's sword. The sword they chose was a very poor execution of a spadroon, which is the source of this meme.
@@joost1120 no , no don't come here with ur lies and blasphemy. Ur just a macbane wanna be . Shame !shame !shame on you for such ungodly think ,the sword Gods hilt is shaking like some metal rattle snake tail . I hope very mean things happen to you, blasphemy I say .
Yeah, been working on it for several weeks. Had to reach out to several of the museums to ask their permission to use their images, to avoid copyright infringement. We would like to have, Dr.Capwell, back on the channel and not have him get in trouble with his colleagues. The video itself is fully edited, so just waiting to get the proper permissions from the museums. Thanks for your patience in the matter. -Reece
@@pursuingtheknightlyarts6841 Perfectly fair. Obvious that your balance is great though, it barely looked like you leaned on them at all. To actually provide some content: fun interview, definitely get footage of Toby in combat if you can, always glad to hear about more books from the Doc himself.
Colin Finnell I thinl he's has around 15 harnesses, obviusly he's selled a lot of them. I'm guessing he conserved his black english hanress and his avant harness
@@Velkan1396 Nope he sold the Black English harness and he recently sold off the cuirass and some other bits from his Italian harness becuse to my knowledge he is currently having a new harness made.
I'm imagining the Wallace tracking down and buying all the old ones one day, and setting up a collection of just the armors of Dr. Capwell. That could actually be rather interesting to show the evolution of his understanding of armor and interest in different types, as well as the development of the reproductions.
