Saw them 1 time live on summer breeze 2014 and didn´t expect them to be that good at that time. They blew my fucking mind with their show and music that night. Keep it up guys \m/
Thank you for re inventing the early days of Black Meta with a modern aspect. I love the brutal sound, guitars grind, drums are smashed into oblivion, bass is pushed to its limits and the vocals are raw and powerful.
They have ALWAYS been true to themselves and if you like it great. To the underground hordes who no longer support because more people like them...YOU are the problem in music as much as the trends. You like what you like, you support what you like, no matter who likes it. There is no beauty in the petty of a failed, starved musician. HAIL WATAIN!
I love metal. But, the people who should be my brothers are traitors to the way of metal as a lifestyle. Well, some are. Too trve to be yourself. It's ridiculous really
There's something different about Erik. I've seen this change in other once Wild and Untamed artists. Its none of our fucking business but he's got this almost parental, I daresay , "dad" vibe going on here.
I really hope that when they tour the US and they get Negative Plane to open for them along Destroyer 666! If it goes down like that, the perfect Blackened Tour would go down!!!!
There are many things he omitted in this interview. You can see his mind ticking trying to find a ‘palatable’ explanation rather than speaking his truth freely, and he bailed completely on many trains of thought. Sad. He expresses himself very well through his art though. Watain isn’t just music, it is an expression of their faith and spirituality. I admire how expressive they are through their music and performance, especially Erik. Watain is the essence of black metal!
No doubt cause their a mainstream band now and couldnt afford to keep him in the band..isnt bm about being about freedom? Not when $$ and popularity are involved...
I'm guessing you are presuming that Watain songs are owned by their record label? As far as I know there are quite a few bands nowadays that just have distribution deals with labels, Watain being one such band. So they own everything, they just rely on SoM to actually get it to different places.
Erik seems a lot less angry, for lack of a better term, than he was in years past. This is probably the most direct, daresay "normal" that I've ever seen him in an interview. Also, ya should have asked him about the Muslim immigration issue instead; from what I can tell, Poland's doin' a lot better than Sweden right now.
