Manuel speaks with Yukina, Matsuri, Hettsu and Chika from the japanese pop/metal band #Hanabie at #LeyendasDelRock2023 festival in Villena, Spain. #metalremains #backstage #metalremainsbackstage
Thanks for the interview with Hanabie (Ha-na-be-eh). Some things got lost in translation, but it was great to see them out there killing it onstage for the existing fans, and, hopefully, making some new fans. For anyone unsure of their music genre, or style, they refer to it as Harajuku-core. They named it after the Harajuku district in Tokyo which is renowned for it's street fashion, music, food, and art. Harajuku is an amazing blend of different styles and attitudes just like Hanabie's music. Hanabie is so used to people mispronouncing their name that I think they named their fan club HANAbee.mania, as bit of a joke. It makes perfect sense regardless, as Hanabie translates to "cold flowers". I thought that was pretty clever and cute. Hana = flower in Japanese, and bee's pollinate the flowers. Hana bee! Wait... does that make their fans "Hana bees"? 🐝
Just adding that Hanabie does literally translate to "cold (or chilled) flowers," but a better translation (based on the explanation Yukina gave in an earlier Japanese live stream) would be a "cold snap" or "cold wave." That's when it's April or May, but you wake up one day and it feels like January outside. The flowers have bloomed, but now all this chilly weather comes out of nowhere.
😂why the translator doesn't translate what hettsu said i guess what she said is“listen more hanabie and go wild in thier performance ,and enjoy together 3:34
Yeah, I guess he assumed the four of them were gonna say something and not just Hettsu because he said "I'll translate after". Thank you for your translation!
I think girls have gotten used to hearing people pronounce their names wrong by now. But I am very sorry as it is not very difficult to add an "eh" at the end of the word (just inquire first)
When many in Frankfurt shouted Hanabi and wanted an encore, Hanabie came back on stage and Yukina explained to everyone that it's pronounced HanabiE and not Hanabi. After a few HanabiE chants, they then played Today's Good Day And So Epic. 🤘❤🔥
I see that young Chika drummer and her T-shirt and think to myself: She would have been a good replacement for Charlie Watts. She would have brought new momentum to the Rolling Stones ...🤘🤘
We in the history of metal have had a "New Wave Of British Metal", a "New Wave Of Eroupean Metal" and a "New Wave Of American Metal" and it looks like we are on the verge of a "New Wave Of Japanese Metal" as we are starting to see a few Japanese bands come into promonance such as "Hanabie" here, but we also have "Nemophila", "Unlucky Morpheous", "Lovebites", and "Crossfaith (although they've been around for a while now!)"
Sin el éxito de Babymetal estas grandiosas bandas niponas jamás habría salido de la escena japonesa, que envidia, pero buen trabajo por la entrevista se agradece
