Last month the Dork Shelf crew had a chance to invade Wizard World Toronto and a fun time was had by all. I got to interview some lovely people, including Andy Belanger from Kill Shakespeare, as well as as Mike Stoklasa from Red Letter Media (largely famous as the voice of Harry Plinkett the film critic).

He comes up with creative and valid criticism that is recognized by literary and cultural critic Benjamin Kirbach, comedian Patton Oswalt, Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, Damon Lindeloff and Simon Pegg. "Mediocrity knows nothing higher than itself, but talent instantly recognizes genius." Maybe you're just mediocre?

+ComicBookSyndicate As a bystander, I appreciate you defending Mike, but it just ends up being another knock against your channels journalistic acumen that you don't even know that "Hack Fraud" is the term the RLM community _commonly_ uses to lovingly refer to the great Mike Stoklasa

It’s interesting seeing Mike before RLM and the Plinkett reviews became what they are today. He’s visibly nervous and excited here because he’s being interviewed about something he made that he truly was passionate about and it caught on with others in a big way

Contrary to some opinions here, I think this interview was good. Maybe not great, but I liked the questions. Any question that makes the interviewee elaborate and talk in depth is a good question.

I remember when I got through all the Plinkett reviews, this was video I watched to put a face to Plinkett's actor. Seems weird in hindsight, since I've now seen so much other Redlettermedia stuff that Plinkett has become a very small part of it.

Well, I'll drop an anecdote to support you from a lesser-seen RLM video. In the documentary they made called "How Not to Make a Movie" about their movie Gorilla Interrupted, they said that Mike typed up a 70 or so page treatment in just a few hours over night. So to me that's mighty impressive. He's got incredible instant recall for Star Trek episodes spanning across hundreds of hours of different shows, and he's highly perceptive to small plot errors and stupid details. He's definitely not dumb.

Everyone who becomes a fan of RLM always starts out only watching the Plinkett reviews and they don’t want to touch their other shows cause how can it get better than this, right? And then they watch their first Best of the Worst episode and everything changes. (This was clearly my experience)

Well, not everyone. I was watching only HITB, then BOTW and Re:View. I liked their personalities and chemistry. I couldn't stand the Plinkett reviews character for the longest time, and don't like it still, so I was skipping Mike's Plinkett videos. But I started to watch those, too, once I was won over by their deep expertise.
