A remarkable young gentleman, so dedicated to his work. Such a combination of mental and physical abilities I have never found in all the years I spent teaching at a University. Congratulations for your work and good luck. I would not mind spending a few weeks with him, simply seeing how such small items are conceived and manufactured by hand! Again, congratulations for your work and great perseverance in achieving such a brilliant standard of work.

Great watchmaker......I love his watches and what he does by hand....even if you could afford them, you can still miss out because of the wait time!! That's how good he is.....

32 disciplines to make a watch! This is amazing, what an achievement to look at a watch knowing that you designed and made all the components! I hope Roger Smith is training up a few men to take his place. What a specialized craft this is, very exciting and very inspirational that some people are so dedicated to their art...a handful in the world....that's something to put on your C.V.!!! If you had not visited him to do this interview I think I would have tried to.....I wonder what he would think of my Sekonda :)

Everyone who masters their craft and becomes wealthy, should buy one of these if they can,as a reminder of master craftsmanship and the importance of striving to achieve it in life.

A special man who is able to see the invisible beauty of engineering. I wish all schools would be able to transmit all this to our students. Most schooling is too superficial and only handle what can be seen as conventional colourful pictures.

could you kindly elaborate on what you mean when you say "the invisible beauty of engineering"? is this perhaps alluding to the human aspect of it?

If I may ask, where can I read about those 32 principles of Watchmaking. I want to become an independent watchmaker someday. I am looking for a mentor.

Why can't Mr. Smith or Mr.Daniels make springs? I don't doubt that it's difficult, but wouldn't this be something to aspire to? Wouldn't that establish Mr. Smith as being unique? Something even the great George Daniels couldn't do.

He doesn’t make watches totally by hand. Machinery is used. The only person that I know of that in the whole process uses pre industrial tools is a Japanese guy. I am not sure if he is a member of AHCI.

Wow...Roger Smith has gotten better at his disguises! You can hardly tell he is an alien. Can tell he is drunk a bit though. This was very boring and nothing like his usual work...not funny at all!
