Here is an update from Ashlee to some questions! - We know that if you are a veteran, living with a disability, and/or part of the LGBTQ2S+ community, you are at greater risk of facing food insecurity. These groups face more inequities and hardships, so we do focus on assisting these groups. The same is true for aging adults and children in our community. These are the highest-need groups, so more efforts in our various programs go to address these groups. - We do not have any sort of income requirements or verification of income. We do ask for income on our intake forms so we can better see wages and the cost of living in our community, but it is not required or necessary for shopping at our store. No IDs, financial paperwork, or social security cards are required for our services.

Thank you so much for doing this interview, Ashley was so imformative. Also made me feel much better about going to my food bank, sometimes I question myself. But without the help of the food bank right now I wouldn't be able to make the changes to eating healthier ( because it is so expensive) and for health reasons I need to lose weight and eat better and the last 2 month I have been able to eat more veggies and fruit and I've lost weight !! Also when she mentioned saving for tires for car, that is me at this moment I have been trying to set money aside for new tires which I NEED. I should be able to get them in the next couple of weeks. Thank you for your encouraging videos.

Love they're encouraging people to stock up without guilt since once cupboards are bare, it makes it difficult to utilize the wonderful foods you receive. Without having some staples like onions, tomato sauce, pasta or something - it makes using that 10 lb hamburger quite difficult.

This was the interview I was waiting for. At the end of the interview when she confirmed that it was ok to go to the food bank to help with pantry and freezer stock up made me tear up. This is a message SO MANY people need to HEAR! Thank you so much Carolina for interviewing her and asking her the important questions our viewers are asking. This was POWERFUL!

Excellent interview and information. I wish my food bswnk was like this. At mine you get what they give and sometimes its stuff that i cannot eat..... then its a waste and sadly they won't take it back before I leave😢

Check in your area to see if you have any blessing boxes or church organizations that give out food. That could be a way to pass along what you can't eat.

Wow, Wow, Wow, I so wish we had a system like this in South Africa. With the price of food escalating every day it's such a struggle to eat healthily every day or in a lot of circumstances, even to have 1 meal a day. I'm an elderly person and my husband and I each get R2000 per month as a state pension. That's very little when you see that bread costs R20 per loaf and milk R15 per litre. There are thousands of old people looking after their grandchildren where parents have died and they have to try to feed, sometimes 10 people on that sum of money per month and still pay rent. There are a few soup kitchen dotted around but those people are making soup from their own limited incomes and sometimes it's a bowl of soup once a week. Life here is an ongoing battle every day.

Yes, they do get some donations of pet food, but it's not all the time.

I LOVED this! Carolina I know that you didn’t start your channel intending to be the food bank lady but I love that you’ve embraced it! I think there are plenty of misconceptions about food insecurity and how to receive help. Whether you meant to or not, you are helping to end a sad stigma that never should’ve existed to begin with.

I agree with rescuing food and helping us so generously. What I don’t agree with is the boasting. It seems to upset the volunteers and workers that feel like you’re saying hey this is what I got , not sure what you’re getting but here’s mine. And the omg I love this n that. It’s good to be excited to know that you’re not gonna be hungry, but the boasting has to stop.

Please look up feeding America and MammaBaird links. Food Banks may not be in every small town but there are food banks in all 50 states. Maybe plan trips on those days? Good luck & Best Wishes.

This is an awesome interview with Ashlee. I teared up listening to her cos before watching your video, as you know, I felt unsure about going to a food bank. Soooo many people NEED to hear her (& your) message. Its not just for mothers, elderly, or those with kids as I thought... its for everyone. I may not be able to actually go to mine, but thankfully there is home delivery for those who are disabled, elderly, or homebound. Thank You Carolina, this a MUCH needed message & thanks for stepping up and doing it. ❤

Fabulous! How you teach people what they might be able to make with the items they receive is the icing on the cake. Using my items I got this week plus my freezer tomatoes to make a beef ragu which I will can to put on the shelf. The value of being able to stay home with your children is immeasurable! I sure wish my food bank was like yours mine is Nothing like that. Your products look great our produce is all on it's last day. Old and pretty banged up. Not a selection like yours. No milk or cheese ever

We never have produce ever. We get beans, dry, cans. You get a box take it or leave it. They are not friendly at all. A couple cans of vegetables. I can of water with a little tuna mixed in. For the last few months being only i person , I get I bag of salad shrimp. Bunch of potato chip. Rice , Mac& cheese. Once a month. No more.

@@mamabairds someone doesnt NEED to just walk in and be like "im gay" you as it shouldn't even be on the "application"..nor should race. I can see something such as race getting discriminated easily as that is more physical. Am i making sense? If some one needs help they need help, neither of those things should matter. BUT I do understand your point, how one could visibly view someone and discriminate.
