***** I didn't say it was a sexual moment. I just meant there were homo undertones. Of course the vampires never have sex, but yes my reading of the book may have influenced my thoughts. The homo undertones are much clearer in the book. But anyway, you are a girl and so maybe thats why you don't see it in the movie. But choosing a companion as a vampire is like being stranded on an island together forever. If a man persistently encouraged another man to spend eternity alone with him on an island, no other man would call that heterosexual. Le Stat clearly prefers the company of men to the company of women. Even if vampires cannot have sex, if I was a vampire, I would rather choose a woman as companion and hang out with vampire men only occasionally.
***** Do all relationships have tenderness? Why are there so many songs and films about bad relationships? Louis and Lestat just had a loveless relationship but it's still a relationship.
***** I think it's all subjective really. I mean in a way we're both right. Since the vampires don't have sex it's hard to make a distinction between a friendship and an intimate relationship.
My ethic teacher: please raise an example from a movie as to why it's not a good idea to use a child to save your relationship. Me: Interview with a vampire.
SOOOOO many hotties in this movie, it’s ridiculous! Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Christian Slater, Antonio Banderas, hell, I even think Stephen Rea was a pretty sexy vampire! That scene on the stage, despite how cruel it was... 🔥🔥🔥 Whew! _(fans herself)_
Snoopy Mochi it’s cute up until you realize they probably didn’t have to have it custom made. And that the people who made it probably cried when they were done because they were imagining the tiny dead child that would go in it.
@@leylasylvanafischer1577 nope, it was custom made for her. Of course, Lestat and Claudia killed the coffin maker upon collecting the coffin. (I read the book.)
@@crem-crem4070 Louis took Claudia to the coffin maker so she could choose the design she liked, and told him a sad tale of how she was terminally ill and was going to die soon, which made the poor man very upset indeed.
"Mamaaaa...'s gone to heaven..", "One.. Happy.. Family..!!"Tom Cruise's gesture, tone, dialog delivery are so good through out the movie, like him as Lestat. Also Kirsten Dunst acted remarkably as Claudia.
Now Now Lestat, having a child is not a proper way to save a marriage. November 2019: Holy shit! I totally forgot about my old account! I didn't remember until I found myself back here!
Kirsten was such a _beautiful_ little girl. When Claudia grows up into a woman in the body of a child, it’s SO believable. Claudia’s demeanor, the way she spoke and moved was so mature, it was spooky! And she was only 11! A remarkable actress, and still just as beautiful now at 37. Wow, time flies. This still is my favorite vampire film of all time.
Likewise. I never liked Cruise or thought of him as talented until I saw Interview with a Vampire. It completely changed my view of him. But most of his roles are nowhere near as interesting.
LilHitzel until our epic fandub edition which is coming soon. please check out our interveiw with the vampire clips. our serena is voicing as our claudia. we have yet to find other people to voice characters if anyone who loves voice acting and would like to audition please let us know ♥ we love interveiw with the vampire and hope to be as epic as the movie.♥
@bubblez if you actually watched the fucking movie you would have gathered that louis didn't like killing people. So he didn't like the idea of doing anything. Louis didn't make Claudia you fucking idiot. Did you even bother watching the movie? He felt so guilty about kiling people he was fucking eating rats.
@@AylaNoelleLee Vampires have no distinct sexuality because they don't have human hormones and they don't have sex. They do love anyone as a whole and they love them sensually but not actually sexually since they cannot perform intercourse so they become kinda pansexual as vampires if someone can use the term. However you are perfectly right that Lestat was indeed a bisexual when he was alive for he was attracted both in men and women and he had plenty of shots with both. He claims to have many lovers in the past and he also fell in love with his friend Nicolas before he turned into a vampire
i really like the relationship between claudia and lestat. they look like a real parent-child to me. if only claudia doesn't go rebel and kill lestat, they would stay together and be happy forever
I agree -- that tender tone of voice, that little tap on the nose. And I love Claudia's delivery of "Louis!" Like a kid seeing one of her parents after a long time, when it seemed like her parents were going to divorce, but now they weren't.
Chris Anthony Giles it’s not so much that he wouldn’t let her grow up, so much as vampirism wouldn’t physically allow it. It’s definitely a drawback, but Claudia would have died otherwise.
When Tom Cruise got the role, book author A. Rice was super upset because she had envisioned Lestat differently. But then when she finally saw the movie she was so impressed at how exceptional and amazing Tom Cruise's Lestat was she actually wrote Tom a letter as both an apology and a compliment.
Not to mention, the film is just gorgeous. The sets, the lighting, the locations and the cinematography are some of the best I've ever seen. That, along with Brad Pitt's narration, combine to create a mood and story that truly defines the word 'Gothic'.
Now I´m thinking (And I have only watch the movie like ten times in a week) that Lestat wanted a companion who help him killing people and have fun... but Louis is all calm and sweet most of the times. Then Lestat wanted a Daughter all cute and forever a little girl, and he got Claudia, all homicidal and strong xD Lestat... I think you made it wrong.
In the book number 2 of Vampire Chronicles Lestat clearly states that he didn't want Louis to leave him and he does regret for breaking his promise to Marius, the ancient vampire, not to make a child vampire and allow someone to live their lives first but he was desperate to keep Louis close and besides he knew that if he didn't Claudia would die. I am not sure if it was a hunting parner he wanted. I think he wanted a partner in general. Lestat was afraid of loneliness. In the book he had his father by his side first, treating him the best he could but his human father was dying and he didn't want to be alone again.
@@chloedassler6156 Because it's entirely on point! That's why! Hahaha he's not even sorry for Claudia's mother for real but at the same time he wants to find proper words for Claudia! Hahahaha indeed one of the best lines in the movie for him!
I love how she goes from this sweet little girl and then her mind matures into that of an intelligent, assertive woman while her body remains that of a five-year-old girl. Kirsten made a great contrast in that during her acting and it just makes her role all the more real. such an underrated performance by one so young.
You so know they're married when: "Monsieur, I need more light!" "She needs more light..." "I shall go blind if you do not bring me another lamp!" "She's going to go *blind*." *DRAMATIC sigh, DRAMATIC shudder, DRAMATIC exit*
Oh God you're right! He is actually repeating the nagging of the tailor! Hahaha I noticed that in detail right now! And he is like "You go get it Louis!" 😂😂😂😂😂😂
What I really love about this movie(Though I haven't read the book)is that even though it's about vampires, It's a painfully human story, and it feels very genuine. It does pretty vampires up in terms of appearance(Which can be a distracting element for me, even though a lot of folklore depicts vampires as attractive) but the characters are thought provoking, intelligent and tragically human.
If you like movies where you get to know the vampire so to speak, I would check out "Dance of the Damned" or the remake "To sleep with a vampire". It's about a vampire who picks up a suicidal stripper as his next victim but spends the night trying to learn more about being human. Both the original and remake were "b-rated" horror films so low budget and there is a fair amount of nudity since the character is a stripper but little blood shed and it's not a gory film. I found them interesting as its more about learning about the characters and not a huge storyline (it could have almost been a play actually since most of the story is them talking to each other). You can find them online to watch for free (just not on youtube). Again, they don't have the budget of this film but they are interesting to watch if you like to see movies where you get to know the vampire (if you are only going to watch one, I recommend the original Dance of the Dammned)
@Angela Parejo many of lestats victims were primarily French women Aristocratic wealthy women Prostitutes And middle class He prefers the blood of the wealthy It was the snobb in him Louie says
DG Designs Absolutely! This is going to be me after watching it with my mother: "Oh my god that was so good! Haha, best movie I had ever watched! I need more of the novels to be made into motion pictures! More, I tell you! More, more!" Lol, I want more right now :)
This is dark and incredibly good. It's too bad that Claudia became a vampire at young age, she should be 17 years old or 18 years old so that she's old enough to be a very beautiful young woman, just like she wanted to be
They could have said they were brothers and that Claudia's mom had died. I think in the book she called Lestat papa and Louis Louis so outsiders probably just assumed her mom died during the plague and that Louis was Lestat's brother or close friend (it was not uncommon to have an unrelated friend live with you at the time).
Lol ppl are dying like flies in their house without ramifications and the most unbelievable part to you is wouldn't they think it weird that two men are raising a baby lol...
True, it was tragic, but in the end, Tom Cruise did a beautiful job as Lestat. If only they had the balls to make "The Vampire Lestat," truly, I believe Tom would have been magnificent. :)
I think that was part of the point of the film. That immortality is more of a curse than it is a gift and a blessing. I feel like the movie ''Highlander'' presented immortality as being more of a burden and a curse, too(even the movie ''The Wolverine'' with Hugh Jackman had a similar take on what it would be like to be immortal as Logan/Wolverine was practically immortal). But as Playgulpanthress said, it also depends on the person. Immortality obviously isn't a burden for Lestat-he seems to be quite enjoying himself. And anyone who has seen the movie Highlander knows that Clancy Brown's character, ''The Kurgan'' more enjoys being immortal than he does resenting it(but The Kurgan is also out of his mind, evil and villainous like Lestat but not as sophisticated and intellectual as him).
Claudia:”Daddy, feed me” Lestat:Why of course ^Rings bell and maid comes^ ^Lestat kills maid^ ^Claudia drinks^ Claudia:I want some more Lestat:Stop we must stop when the heart starts Ladies lestat and louis mine You better back off before I hit your hand like Lestat did to Claudia
I did not know that Lestat is played by Tom Cruise, until I made a research. I'd say he's pretty good being a vampire in this movie. Love that movie, by the way; a few of the vampire-themed movies I can appreciate, aside from Byzantium and Let Me In.
when i watched this for the first time, i kept cracking up or go “aawwwwwww” in these very scenes and no matter how many times i watched them the feeling stays the same WHY DID THIS NOT LAST WHY-
Great clip. Second only to the original and Bram Stokers. I loved the sensuous scenes with Wynona Ryder in that movie. Kirsten (Claudia) showed her talent for acting at an early age in this one. All Dracula movies are really in fact love stories. Tortured souls in love and doomed from the first bite.
Me whenever I see Brad Pit in a movie: "Damn these actors are so great, and the costuming is really flawless, I hope- wait what? What is Brad Pit doing here? He wasn't even part of the story. Goddammit, I hate it when films add a token Pit for the general audience. Fuck."
1:30 I was watching Lori Vallow's court statement, and when she said that her children were in heaven, it reminded me of this scene! There are some evil, crazy people out there!
LMAO what? Brad Pitt and Tom Crusie has been and made phenomenal movies! Your being possible thinking it’s the only one you “actually like” what a rubbish statement!
@@Gadget-Walkmen we don't *all* have to like the same actors *you*. You're an ignorant arse if you expect everyone to like the same actors you do. I just happen to not care for either one of them as actors; I think they're both exceedingly overrated. There are hundreds of actors who are just as good if not better than Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. People have different likes and tastes. It's called personal preference. Get used to it.
@@lauriesmith4575 LMAO What? They're NOT "exceedingly overrated" at all or in the slightest. They've earned their positive reception based on all the fantastic movies they've been in. You liking other actors more is fine and on you but they're FAR from "eXcEeDInGLy OvErrAtEd" in the slightest. And I'm talking about they movies they've been in themselves which have all been beyond fantastic and it's ridiculous to even say you only like one of them because that's just unbelievably absurd from all the fantastic films they've starred in.
Man... A movie based on The Vampire Lestat would be so amazing. If you've read the book, it's understandable that it would have been one of Tom Cruise's best movies. The wolf hunting, the acting scenes, the part where he turns his mom into a vampire... Too bad The Queen of the Damned was mediocre at best.
River Phoenix was, without a doubt, an actor whose performance in any film he's ever done left you thinking of him and the characters he portrayed long after the film was over. Just everything about him could draw you in and never let you go. Production for this movie was halted just for him, a shame his personal demons conquered him and at last, claimed him.
