That face of regret after Lestat said the hurtful words....
@Elly3981
@Elly3981 7 лет назад
Well, its obvious he still loves her. She was upset because he kept treating her like a child after she mentally grew up but its hard for him not to since she will always look like a little girl. Maybe if she wasn't turned until she was 16 or so, they would have been better off.
@katerinaaqu

@@illanellinor Indeed but perhaps she would have died of blood loss because Louis almost drained her. Perhaps Lestat also felt her strong heart that she didn't want to die and so he encouraged Louis that they should turn her plus he wanted to give Louis a reason to stay with him
@amefregoso5491
@amefregoso5491 4 года назад
@@katerinaaqu honesty people think Lestat chose to turn Claudia in order for Louis to stick with him, but I feel likehe did it because Louis was thinking of killing himself, that's also why he turned him as well. Let's not forget that hs qas about to get killed by thw whorr's pimp the night he met Lestat, and Lestat jumped to Louis "rescue" when he saw what those other two were up to. Louis wasn't happy alive (as a human) and he wasn't happy as a vampire. At the end of the movie he tells Armand than all he has are his sorrows (At first for the loss of his wife and infant and than for the loss of Claudia) and it made me realized that Louis would never change. There are people that enjoy victimizing themselves and drown in their misery, people like Louis who used martyrdom and seemed to moved everyone that met him and felt in love with him.
@katerinaaqu
@katerinaaqu 4 года назад
@@amefregoso5491 Actually in the book it was both of them that turned her. Louis drank her blood and then Lestat took her from the hospital she was placed in and he brought her to him. Louis himself expressed his flaming need to take her again and he bit her again while Lestat gave her his blood. Lestat knew that Louis loved her and Lestat himself loved her. He also did want Louis to stay because Lestat had some traumatic experiences in his life. His first two fledglings (his mother and his lover Nickolas) had left him. His mother downright abandoned him because she wanted to live free and adventurous while Nickolas turned mad and was executed by the other vampires. Lestat was horrified that Louis would leave him -which he did in the end with Claudia-. In fact Lestat says that if it weren't the blood of the old one that turned him (Magnus) or the old one and the old one that gave him blood (Marius) and the First Vampire Akasha who let him drink off her, Lestat would have died from the attempt Claudia made against him. Lestat was helplessly in love with Louis because of his melancholy and that melancholy reminded him of his first lover Nickolas. In fact Louis accuses Lestat in his first interview that Lestat was using him for his plantation which Lestat claims is not true because Lestat had his own fortune which was multiplying by the years he was keeping it. Lestat clearly gave Louis a choice and much more in the book if you read it. Also Louis turned out to be so cold that Armand left him. In the book is even more apparent how cold Louis turned to be, mainly because he was depressed by the loss of Claudia and also Armand did confess that he had fabricated the whole thing in order to create hatred between him and Lestat and get rid of Claudia so he could get her place in Louis' life. It is incredible how horrified Lestat was in the second book that Louis had said in detail in his interview where Lestat's sleeping place was (Lestat slmbered from 1920s to 1980s) and he felt betrayed because it was like sending people to destroy him but he said that he forgave him because he believed him ignorant of his actual power. For example the story with the two women he killed, which was expressed as brutality against innocent people by Louis, Lestat revealed they were murderers who were seducing men, getting them drunk and then slit their throats before stealing from them. Lestat revealed that he could read thoughts and was always picking his victims out of evildoers. He didn't hide of course that he was feeling immense pleasure from killing them but those people Louis presented as innocents had done some sort of crime and Lestat knew because he could read thoughts while Louis couldn't. Akasha also accused Louis of being the most cruel of them all because he was killing indiscriminately of age, gender etc. Louis of course was feeling horror by it and he even pled Akasha to kill him for it if that would make her feel better but the result remained the same because Louis himself admitted he lost his extreme conscious delimas in time and he was killing indeed indiscriminately mainly because he didn't have the power to read minds so he could pick his victims. Lestat didn't really seem to accuse Louis for that because he generally thinks Louis is simply ignorant of his true power at first. He sees that Louis at his book claims that Lestat is all big talk but Lestat claims that Louis was simply ignorant of his true power. Which is rather interesting why Lestat would hide his true potential. One is that he wanted to keep Louis close to him with doubt. The other is that he simply didn't want to enforce Louis with his power or that he couldn't do it emotionally. Lestat appears to be both simple and complicated fellow if one reads the second book (and the first. The book has some really interesting details not seen in the series like the fact that Lestat was also protecting his human father till the very end despite the fact that his father resented him and despised him because he wasn't his first born and his heir)

In fact even if Louis presented him as a villain in his interview Lestat not only did he not host hard feelings for Louis but he was utterly delighted to see him again and when Louis asked him if he could stay with him he immediately said yes even if Louis had denied him the same thing not too long ago. Claudia didn't seem to host the same feelings for love for Lestat. She thought of him as mentor or parent at first and then she hated him. She loved Louis as her parent and as her lover but her love became jealousy and hatred when Louis wanted to follow Armand confessing that he had started loving him more and more

Did you not notice Lestat's immediate look of regret when she asked him how he could say it? It was obvious he didn't mean it; he even grabs her arm to apologize. He's getting ill because he's not fed in a while, and it's making him delirious + angry towards Claudia who he'd been arguing with already.

@@iluvlafferty Lestat had a lot of layers to him and the truth is that he felt bad Claudia and angry with himself for making her a vampire. In the scene where she cuts her hair and then his face you can see for a moment after she hurts him that he is a little hurt and shocked suggesting that he feels bad for what he did to her, of course he is not willing to admit it.

@@littlesongbird1 Or it is even deeper and that Cruise had actually read the Vampire Lestat too along with Interview with the Vampire. If such thing happened then Cruise knew that Lestat had turned his mother into a vampire and his mother hand cut her hair only to find it grown back the next night and she went all crazy at that. If Cruise knew that then in that scene he pictured perfectly Lestat's painful reminder of his mother's crisis!

Glad that youtube is there and i can watch as often as i want :) The Piano session is beyong any discription. Amazing song by Haydn and nice interpretation of lestat.

i am back here after binge watching the show.. this is one of my favorite scenes from the movie. when lestat says that and claudia asks, "why do you say such things?".. kirsten plays this so well. a rare moment of vulnerability, like he's wounded her and she genuinely wants to know why he does that. whether she's being manipulative here or not, it was also honest. and the way tom cruise plays lestat's reaction as one of instant regret said so much. i was sad they didn't have a scene like that in the show but perhaps it was not in the books idk. for some reason this moment was always so vivid to me though.

He can't read her mind because he was the one who made her. I've read something in "The Vampire Armand" that the one who creates a new vampire can't read the mind of the one he created. Same happened with Marius and Armand. The moment he made him a vampire, he couldn't read his mind, blood connection was too strong for that. If I remember correctly...

I'm amazed Lestat managed to find forgiveness for two of his Vampires that tried to kill him twice. He wasn't completely souless. He even mourned Claudias death after she and Madeline were burned alive in sunlight. That whole Lestat/Claudia/Louis threeway was more husband, wife and child than a controlling father with two kids. Up until I read Merrick, I thought Claudia cut Lestat a knew one for trapping her adulthood inside the body of a child when Louis was equally responsible. Made complicated by the notion that both Claudia and Lestat were in love with Louis. Then theres Claudias Journal refering to that situation in which stated she hated them both for what happened but chose to kill Lestat who wouldn't take her BS were as Louis in his guilt and shame of who he is would spend his eternity making it up to her.

When I first saw this movie, I was about Kristen's age. I thought it strange that no one around them thought it odd that two adult men were raising a little girl. Kind of reminds me of a gay couple adopting kids though Louis seems to be more of a mother to Claudia and later on, more like her lover.

Kids can be jealous of their parent's lovers too but I know what you mean. Another plothole I've noticed is why none of the people living near the trio noticed Louis and Lestat never aged while Claudia never grew up no matter how many years have passed.

@myheartismadeofstars i completly agree. whats coolest is that lestat plays the suave villian with undertones of insanity and revenge in mind for what they did to him while still maintaining the feel of a guy who just wants to be friends. So he shows undeniable evil and controlling in when hes being selfish and manipulative but its none more obvious than in this scene
