Interview With The Vampire || Movie (1994) vs Tv Show (2022) 

So many parallels. Simultaneously similar and dissimilar. I love them both!

The 1994 film is iconic, if a little sloppy due to the short time they have to move on with the plot, Claudia's performance is the best and Tom Cruise as Lestat is wonderful. To watch the series you have to have an open mind, it has nothing to do with the book or the movie, but they add that tone of terror combined with drama between Lestat and Louis, the result is wonderful, both actors are great, the series it allows you to empathize with the characters as we see their development. Both works have their special touch, I can't choose, I like both.

Sam got Lestat's sexiness, cruelty, fashion sense and sense of dramatics. Sam charms only worked on Louis and he's just content.Tom got Lestat's cruelty, fashion sense, dramatics as well and charms. Both loved Claudia to a fault and showed it. Loved them both.

There’s just something about comparing various adaptations of one beloved story that sends goosebumps up my arms. It makes me feel like these events were somehow meant to be and will happen over and over no matter what. The music you used here adds to the eerie feeling beautifully.

Tom cruise is still the lestat in comparison to me he's the closest to the book version eccentric smart but cruel and manipulative and possessive and Louie his weakest child but his favorite one movie is more like the book and I'm a book worm so to each there own

I Miss when movies still looked good and had good movie music. The Look of the 90's movies was 50% better. They had more Soul, some had scenes with a mood like in a painting. They didn't look so cheep.

Claudia was not so scared in the movie, she was cold and cruel.

The movie is more dark, more close to a light sexy horror movie! For that time was a great taste for what was Interview with the vampire! Its a great love story!

I love Interview with The Vampire so much! It's always interesting to see the similar lines and the different ways they are done. Personally, I like the original one better because of the ~mystery~ in their relationship and since it's the one I saw first. I will always and forever hate Armand though, no matter what format he is in :D💀

I think the new Lestat...is more like the book Lestat. I just never got Tom as Lestat(even though he is a great actor). Both Claudia actresses did great. Both actors playing Louis are great, but Brad is straight out of the books with his looks.

Seeing as Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise are household names as succesful, talented actors, it's amazing to see how much the actors in the series surpass the delivery of each line. There's so much more emotion, vulnerability and heart in everything

My favourite Lestat was Stuart Townsend. He looked, sounded and moved like I imagine a Vampire. Tom Cruise was also great, but he was not mysterious or otherworldly.

I love this! I love the 94 movie but seeing them side by side like this really throws their differences into stark contrast. The shots and the acting is so much better in the 2022 one, maybe with the exception of Claudia. Just about every choice Sam Reid made here was the best choice, what a talent.

The tv show hands down . Don’t get me wrong the movie was good also but the tv show just is amazing. The emotion the actors put into these characters is fantastic

1994 wins. Not only because of the excellent direction, production design, cinematography, costume, music but especially the performance of the cast. Hard to forget Tom Cruise and Kirsten Dunst performance once you see it. Forcing inclusivity casting in period/historical movies never fails to take you out of a period setting when you know it is historically .untrue.

All actors are better in the movie. For sure Kirsten Dunst. And Tom Cruise is much more scarry.

The tv show is way better

Anne Rice must had completely lost her damned mind before she died or she simply sold her rights for the highest bidder without caring if her masterpiece was being turned into SHIT!!! I'm not even going to talk about the bad writing, the inconsistent plot, the questionable cast or making Lestat and Louis' relationship look like a gay softcore porn version of "Fifty Shades of Grey/365 Days"... What really pisses me off was how they ruined Lestat and Claudia's characters: -Lestat was supposed to be the embodiment of a morally grey person on a crapsack world, a "Noble Demon" with shades of "jerk with a heart of gold" and more prone to "pragmatic villany" to show that "Even Evil has Standards"! In the show, they made him as hateful as Ramsey Snow from GOT. -As for Claudia, where to begin? What made her such a formidable and understanding character, was the fact she was an adult eternally trapped in the body of a CHILD!!! Her whole dilemma was not even about vanity or growing into "a beautiful woman with the endowments [she]'ll never possess", it was about her inability to stand for herself: having the size, weight and stature of a toddler made her nearly uncapable of functioning as an average adult, let alone a vampire which is supposed to be an apex predator! She had to rely on Louis to survive as well as her intellect, witts, deception and manipulation skills. If Claudia had been a teenager when she was changed, she would've no reason to complain as she would be physically strong and matured enough to function as both an adult and a vampire!

Watching this tv show made me want to re-read the vampire chronicles, and watch the beautiful, accurate 1990’s IWTV movie, just to refresh and not make me cry, that’s how bad the tv show was.😡🤬

The movie was, and still is better! People who think the tv show is better, have no taste, or one of those people who hate Tom Cruise, because of his religion. Tom Cruise’s Lestat stayed true to the books, and yes, I read them 3 times. Sam’s version was s***, they made him into this toxic masculine, that ONLY had a fetish for Louis, but claimed to be “bisexual” (in the show we only see him have sexual relationship with Louis, the rest are girls).

A woke tv show what a surprise

To everyone saying that the tv show is better you dont know what you are missing . Please read the books ( at least the first couple of them if you dont have the patience for the whole series) and you will understand that the tv show is nothing more than fanfiction. In Anne Rice's book the world setting is completely different . Not even gonna get into the absurd amount of homoeroticism and black representation depicted in the tv show which in nowhere in the vampire chronicles and only exists as a statement for the times we live in. News flash : In the books (and the movie) the vampires cant even have sex, plus they dont even care about gender and age. Oh and btw Claudia's in the books is like five....

I don't like how that Lastat-actor Talks in the series. He's mumbling and hard to understand. Stuart Townsend had the sexiest voice of all vampires and spoke clear.

I prefer the original movie and the eerie feel it has to it. But Tom’s Lestat is dead to me after seeing Sam perform. I know most will disagree since Tom is a top Hollywood actor but Sam is exactly how Lestat is supposed to be, while the movie Lestat is a character on it’s own, imo. What saddens me is that Anne didn’t get to see him in flesh.

Movie is significantly better than the series. I can't stand the show.
