Yup, and you'll also know that Armand will never actually be able to repay or repent for it. Nor should he. He will never be forgiven for it, nor should he. And he will literally always be a "reminder of the worst of it", for all of them (including himself) forever. As he should. So him trying to manipulate and pressure Louis into forgiving him and essentially letting him off the hook, was WILD. Like Armand, you literally put yourself here, and you're still actively hurting those (including Lestat) that you've done the most heinous shit too. Yet you're trying to make Louis apologize to you for him not being able to just tolerate and move past the trauma of what you did, to all of them. It traumatized even you, yet he's just supposed to "get over it" and give YOU a break. When you're the main reason why he's this broken down and unstable in the first place.... absolutely WILD behavior.

@@RowensARTstudio Eh, agree except for the last part. Louis was already broken down and unstable. Louis was suicidal on the day he was made, and psychotic the day Armand met him. He's never been alright. No one person made him that way by themselves. If you think about it, Armand and Lestat's trauma is as bad as Louis', he didn't win the gold medal in the misery Olympics. They all express their fucked-up-ness in their own ways. Louis chases death, Armand does whatever it takes to protect himself no matter the cost, and Lestat ravages anything in his path.

@@moonlily1 See now, this is something alot of people end up falling into doing. My reply is in reference essentially to Armands part, and ep 5 specifically. I didn't speak on all the other factors that have caused Louis his various mental illnesses. Or the other people (his family, the time period/society, Lestat, etc) that have played there own part, because I was focusing on just the part that I was replying to/about. I did not in any way say or imply that Louis was just perfectly fine or stable before that. That's not something I said... I've been a fan of this character for over 20yrs, and I'm watching the same show everyone else is. We all know Louis was suffering from and struggling with various mental illnesses and disorders BEFORE Lestat even turned him, then was a very broken down man, and struggling with CPTSD and full blown *psychosis* by the time he met Armand. That doesn't always need to be pre-said or divulged, just to speak about the damage to him that Armand himself has caused and is causing. And he was not psychotic, he was dealing very poorly with trauma and grief... he was dealing with psychosis not a full blown psychotic disorder. And nobody can say that one single person caused it. That's just not an argument that can be made, and definitely not one I ever tried to. And I'll definitely correct one thing, right out of the gate. Armands "trauma" is far worse than ANY of theirs. Lestats trauma is close second. And as someone who personally struggles with and lives with many of the mental illnesses and disorders, that these characters do irl. That comes from compound trauma and abuse, this "topic" is not and will never be funny to me, nor lighthearted to me. So I'm skipping how disrespectful and callous you're being about it. It is NOT ever a competition. One persons trauma being worse than another, does not in any way mean that other persons trauma is less then. Because at the very baseline, trauma and abuse affects different people differently. For just a wild example: someone can actively see someone die right in front of them, and only come away with bad nightmares. While another person can just lose someone, a friend or loved one, and it result in a full psychotic break. It is NEVER some weird kind of competition. Most of your last statement is just inaccurate. What he "chases" is relief from the PAIN, inflicted ON HIM by loss, abuse and trauma. If you've never had to deal with s*icidal ideation then you're not going to understand. And the s*icide attempt in ep 5 was directly caused, by the death of Claudia, and the resurfacing memory of her. As well as a built up culmination of being kept ill and in pain for so long, by the man that killed her... The part about Armand is right, but only half right... and the part about Lestat is not accurate at all, but it'll take a whole other comment box to explain Lestat. What I will leave it with, is: we have not met the REAL Lestat yet. Even with the trial, we have only seen a "memory" (or hallucination) of Lestat, and a heavily edited memory, at that... Now it's very clear, that you are trying to subtly "defend" Armand. I get it, you do you, but I'm not here for it. So of course you're free to reply, but I will not be returning to reply to you again. Fictional or not, how callously you speak about this topic in general, is so off-putting to me I refuse to give up any more of my time or energy engaging with your kind of mindset.

The wild thing is, the proof of it has been there since season one, and so many people just simply didn't see it. Took this episode for them to catch on. I don't know if you've read the books at all (don't worry, no spoilers) but Armand 100% can't be trusted. Not this early Armand at least. It's pretty much a big part of his character. You can't really believe anything, including reality, when it comes to him. And he has to be in control. It's a survival thing and a trauma response "thing" for him...

I agree with everything you said about Assad’s portrayal of Armand 🙌🏾 I’m just going to add that Sam read all the books too. He knows those books backwards & forwards, and it’s something that’s quite known amongst the cast and show runners. I thought Tom did a good job as Lestat in the ‘94 movie…but, I was also just happy to see my favorite character on the big screen. Sam has the look, the french accent and the attitude of book Lestat. Sam is portraying a character that pretty much carried 13 books. He will forever be my Lestat, period🫶🏾 I feel the same way about Jacob. Show Louis is always how I wanted book Louis to be. He will forever be my Louis ❤️ I know that last statement is why my book purest membership is revoked 🤭

Yeah, and you're about to see why all of this is even this way to begin with. Why Louis is suffering, why he's this low and unstable, why Armand will NEVER be able to be absolved, why for all of it. And I can tell you one thing, without spoiling, what Armands been dealing with is not enough. And it'll never be enough. And he genuinely deserves SO MUCH WORSE, than just dealing with the fall out, of what it's done and is till doing to Louis.

@@alexie5201 Oh we're definitely gonna see ALL of it, even the parts that you don't find out till later in the series. And if the track record of this show is anything to go by. It's going to be amped up 10fold. Armand fans are going to go through, essentially the same 7 levels of hell, that Lestat fans went through in season one... And all I can say is, I'm honestly glad I'm more of a Louis fan than any other character, because it's honestly gonna be rough for you guys. Phenomenal show though, and I hope all of us are properly strapped in for the ride 👌🏽

That's just the thing, it's not "Louis' version" of Lestat, it's Armands version of Lestat. Please pay attention. And what he's going through right now, is not just simply a hereditary mental illness, it's literally the direct outcome of what Armand has done to him. What he's done to all of them. And as to "damning" Claudia, Louis will always have partial responsibility in that. But Lestat had the power, Lestat had the final say and Lestat knew better. Not Louis. Ultimately, Lestat is the one who actually made her. Not Louis.

I remember comments that were made about the shadiness of calling Bran Stark "Bran the Broken." He's not broken; he's just different. There's nothing wrong with being schizospec, or to be hearing voices, or simply having a bodymind that's 'different', and there's cool systems out here living whole lives Rae Dawn Chong's character from season 1 thought different (or let it slide, as to make no difference either way) I've said it before and I'll say it again now I truly want everyone yes even Armand a chance to call an undead crisis warmline and get into a peer respite run by other vampires with a choice to have any therapies theyd choose - yes even Armand ( as long as yr breathing it's never too late )

I love Louis. He's so beautiful yet vicious but this episode in particular I wanted to give him a hot slap.

And s1 ep 5 did not happen like we think it did, alot of what Louis remembers, alot of this story is just that, a "story" that even Louis himself has been told (confirmed by Rolin Jones already). So no spoilers, I personally think people should just experience the show as it happens. Especially if they haven't read the books (which is perfectly fine). But just know that by the end of this season, it'll all make sense 😉👌🏽

So, the big theory is because the next season will be revealed as Anne Rice's The Vampire Lestat like the series name goes with what principle title is being adapted with the last episode working as a prologue to the next season/ show. But again, just a theory some fans have.

You only turn when you drink the vampire's blood after being drained. You don't die unless you're drained of blood. The maker cannot communicate with the fledgling telepathically. The answer to the final question: love is weird.

He has to be brought to the brink of death and then feed the maker's blood in order to turn.

Not twilight vamps. These vamps need a blood transfer.

He straight up psychologically tortured, and physically and mentally abused both these men (technically 3, if you count the psychological torture of Lestat as well) for days. And then turned around and was like poor me I'm the victim... when he's literally the reason why Louis is so broken down, and in pain (in every sense of the word) to begin with. He's literally the one that caused all of this, and has put himself in this permanent state of purgatory, yet he's forcing Louis to give him a "break". Like you've completely and utterly broken this man, and you're actively, vindictively and selfishly keeping him from the one thing that can actually help him, you're keeping him ill and unstable... Yet you're the one who needs comforting. Wow.

I think it sad. I think the factions are too divided. You've got the purists that have read the books that don't like the deviation. You've got the IWTV movie fanatics that are wanting it to be like more like the movie. I've read just about everything Anne has written and seen the movie. I'm loving this interpretation. I hope they dig deep into the Vampire Chronicles. It would be epic if they continue with this version of interpretation.

I’m the opposite. I read the books before I saw the movie and was quite disappointed- despite Tom Cruise’s transformation and the very presence of the glorious Brad Pitt. They changed a lot about the characters but one thing I like is that they made it upfront and obvious - this is a gay love story - tragic and toxic but still a love story between two men. The addition of men and people of color is a bit woke and inclusive, but I am a person of color and I LOVED it! It’s like they mixed in a bit if The Feast of All Saints and the mixed culture that’s ingrained in New Orleans. Also, Christopher Rice is an executive producer so i wonder about his influence on the writers. I do agree that they rushed the Mayfair series…those were the hottest bodice rippers. I loved the books. The tv series was terrible.
