Thanks for this. Way easier than I thought, but needed to see it. Installed this afternoon on a Bestways 14'x22'x4'. Constantly dealing with bugs and leaves. Cleaned it all up in a couple of hours. Embarrassed that I didn't do it sooner!
It comes with a hat plug with a tiny hole you're suppose to put on the other intake as well. To reduce the the intake on one side and increase the suction of the skimmer.
Yes. I have 1/2 dozen hat plugs and didn't know what I should be doing. Also the use of the hat plug seems to keep the pump operation well within the pressure gauge green zone. Without it, I'm bordering on yellow. ? New to pool maintenance.
I cannot find a 1.5 inch fitting for the inlet. Does it matter if I use the return in the inlet hole. I had to saw off the little gray PIECEthat was sticking out to GET THE SKIMMER TO SCREW ON. But my ques is does it matter? Will the pump still drw like it should? I have a 12 X 30 bestway. i converted to 1.5 inch hoses to addapt to my 2500 intex pump. I cannot find the 1.5 fitting for the inlet.
@@RickBolt I believe my filter is set to the filter setting but I never thought to check that. The pool only shows the water flowing out. My husband and I tried it on both Intake sides and the water keeps flowing out.
Something is wrong with the filter pump configuration. On my pool there are two intakes and one output. Can you please review your instructions and be sure all hoses and parts orientation is correct?
@@triavue9864 thanks. I was wondering how I was gonna get the skimmer side of my 2 intake pool to balance. Mine will be here monday, too many accessories, my mother bought the kids the pool for the summer, and man I bet I'm gonna have at least a grand into this thing by the time it's all done.
Great video, but I have some questions. I am assuming you can't use this with a cover on the pool. I keep mine covered most of the time because we have a lot of trees. also, mine tends to lean a little to one side and I have tried to adjust it to stay level but nothing seems to work. Not sure how to use this skimmer when the solar cover is on. Unless I disconnect the skimmer and only use it when I want to use the pool. seems like a pain in the butt.
Trying to set up my pool, which my husband used to do and can not get the skimmer to stay down in the water, the whole bottom(white piece) floats up when the pump is turned on. Can you tell me what i'm doing wrong?
First. Is the skimmer hose full of air? Maybe pour some water in the skimmer to purge the air. Second, tighten against the rail really well. Good luck! Enjoy your pool!
I have the same pool and I’ve attached it just like you said. The problem I am having is once I attach the hose the skimmer pops off the wall. My husband has tightened as tight as we can and it still does it. Any suggestions?
Can I ask a question about the surface skimmer. Do you dismantle it when covering the pool and go back to using the pool outlet pipe to filter. Can you have the surface skimmer and outlet going at the same time if you have more than one outlet.
You will probably get a hundred different answers, but here is what i do: I have two inlets, so I leave the skimmer on one during the swimming season. The skimmer pulls from the top of the water and the other inlet pulls from the middle of the water.
Skimmer pulls things off the top of the water, filter pulls from lower to filter all of the water. You really only need a filter. You can skim manually if you like...
It drive me crazy that you didn't show it working. 5 more seconds and one shot would fux this. Its like listening to a song where the last note is missing.
Is there a way to securely fasten the skimmer to our metal intex pool rail which is more of angled flat rail...its a 14 x 48. The skimmer bucket bottom floats up causing the skimmer to not be in the water.
I agree that the skimmer attachment can be troublesome. Mine has come off a few times causing issues over the last year. If I come up with any ideas i will post another video.
@@RickBolt It's been a while since you responded to this question - have you found a good way to stop the mounting bracket from slipping off the side of the pool? I have a 12'x24'x52" Intex metal frame pool - the railing is round - I cannot get the skimmer to stay attached for more than 10 minutes or so.
@@christinezucconi1645 I have not yet. I started cranking down the screw handles pretty hard and it has held for much longer. I may try adding some extra rubber like old tire tube cut into small pieces to place on each side of the clamp to give it more grip.
@@RickBolt Thanks! I think I finally got something the work - holding 22 hours now. Longest ever. Used black foam rubber garage door draft guard and double face tape. Taped the pool vinyl on the metal pole, the foam rubber and the mounting bracket. Fingers crossed, it holds.
When I add the flow reducer to the inlet that is not connected to skimmer, i get "low flow" error on my pump. I'm using a 1600 gph intex combo sand/saltwater pump. Not sure if I should leave the flow reducer on and try to troubleshoot increasing flow (increase size of hoses) or leave flow reducer off?
Make sure to plug the other intake. Otherwise water fill always follow the easier path - in your case, the intake that the filter IS NOT installed. This video doesn't show that and I believe that is the most critical part of this whole install.
