Nicely filmed and explained. Mine lasted about 2 years before now getting stuck against the wall with water flowing only one direction. The clear direction on how to open it up will save me some fumbles. We have lots of trees around and above the pool, so in my book, the little robot has held its own. Don;t worry about the big pump -- it will help greatly with keeping your pool clean. I have attached mine to a hayward 18" filter and have been trouble free despite the muck that keeps falling in the pool!
Dude!!! although this video is two years old it is still being used. You are an absolute lifesaver. Thank you, it worked. I was trying to blame it for not working on my wife. LOL
I saved this video. I'm certain, with my luck, it will prevent me throwing my unit over the fence and then having to walk back there to pick it up and put in in the garbage. So thank you... Edited to add: Intex needs to pay you for your contribution...
This video-clip was perfect for us. Even the warning about the easy-to-break clasps / clips was great - no doubt we would have broken them. And best of all, it was quick and easy. Thank You!!
My vacuum stopped hit the walls, would not move anymore I got on RU-vid, I found you and your instructions, follow them! I have a smile on my face and a happy pool 🙃😁😁😁😁 thank you!
I was about to buy a new one and ran across this video. Took all of 10 minutes and it worked just like you said it would. Thanks man. You saved me $170.
Thank you so much. Excellent video. Clear, concise, very well filmed and narrated. I opened the pool yesterday and my intex vacuum that worked great last summer is just sitting there!! I am getting some silicone lubricant and a screw driver and fixing it tomorrow! Thanks again!!!
Thank you! My vacuum was only moving in one direction and would get stuck the first time it hit the side. I followed your instructions to take it apart. My problem wasn't the same. The wheel gears had sand built up in/around them and they were stuck. Since I didn't have any silicone lubricant, I only rinsed everything for now. It is back to working again. I'll pick up some silicone soon for a longer lasting fix.
Thanks mate, you are a life saver. Was about to spend big bucks on a new pump. My issue wasn't exactly the same as the gears were stuck but by you explaining the mechanics of the thing I was able to get it resolved. Thanks again!!!
I knew what i needed to do but was afraid to take it apart and not know how to put it tohether without breaking it. so thank you for being the guniea pig and letting me watch, and all the little tips to knowing which way to know how to put it back... golden. thanks a bunch
you dont even know how thankful i am for finding this video i just told my son i was going to go run this damn thing over and then laugh i have been messing with this thing for 4 months..thank you so very much
Perfect solution. My issue was slightly different in that the valve worked easily but the gears were full of sand. Your video aided in quick dissasembly. I cleaned it all up, used a little white lithium grease on all the gear bushings and it's back to running like a champ. Thanks again.
Thanks a mil! I was going crazy since it was working before. One thing to check before closing back up is the gears. Make sure they are aligned and spinning.
This is great!!! Thank you so much for taking your time in making this video. You are a lifesaver! Been soooo frustrated w/ my vacuum coz it keeps getting stuck to the walls and won’t move until you rotate it manually & eventually hit another wall for it to stop again. I have spent so much time trying to figure out what’s wrong & ended up spending $180 to upgrade my sand filter to 3000gph flow. I wish I seen this video prior to my spending. But now, it moves flawlessly & once it hits a wall, it takes less than 30secs to internally move that valve to switch direction. Yes! There’s a lot of sand inside upon opening & ended up using vaseline to loosen up the gears inside like you indicated. I actually took apart the bottom piece too to clean off the sand stuck in the gears that prevents the valve to switch. Now I just need to figure out a way to prevent sand from going into the hose coz that’s what’s causing the problem w/ the movement. Thanks again for sharing!!!
Mine would move but only in one direction. I was able to take it apart because of this video and realize this part of the problem. Also learned that our pump needed to be on recirculate instead of filter.... now she goes all over the whole pool!! Thanks for posting!!!
In case it helps someone else, I wanted to explain what helped me solve the problem of my vacuum being stuck in one place. My Intex sand pump flow rate is 2,150 gph so it's plenty strong, but I had no movement. I own a Bestway pool (from Costco) that has one of those solar heaters. The solar heater is the problem -- it restricts the flow rate and therefore the vacuum wouldn't move. Once I removed that solar heater the vacuum started working perfectly and quick! Great and informative video nonetheless and I'm sure at some point I will be needing to lube the part you refer to in the video. Thank you!
Wow…. THANK YOU… husband is going to try it right now. He took it apart yesterday but could nit figure it out. So fingers crossed your video will be the solution. :) I LOVE this sweeper when it works.
Thank you SOOO much for this video! Followed your instructions but also went ahead and lubricated EVERYTHING while I was in there (LOL), put it back together and works like a charm! So glad I don't have to babysit the darn thing anymore! I was ready to chunk it!
Great video! I discovered after tearing apart my vacuum a couple of time and lubing all of the internal parts, that my problem was that my filter needed back flushing. After back flushing, the little Intex vacuum is trucking around the pool so fast, I’m a little worried it’s gonna break through the vinyl wall like Mr. Kool-Aid!
I am so happy to find your video. I have lots of sand in pool that accidently got put from filter. I thought it could be easy fix. On my third one, probably all the same issue. Thank you so much!!!
Thanks for the video! Extremely useful. I preventive greased mine before first using it, with silicone grease and it works flawless. Still, it's cleaning performance is mediocre but at this price, you are not going to get anything better. I will definitely repeat the operation while winterizing the pool.
Dude thank you so much I was so made at mine and I was not accepting defeat. Your video worked perfectly thank you. I used a 3 in one lube and it worked just as great! Thanks much you saved me so much $
Thanks. Some debris inside that valve are probably also the reason why my newer Intex ZX50 pool cleaner is not moving anymore. I'll open and check it and I'll lube moving parts.
I hope you get this message/comment since it was 6 years ago you created this video. Your video is so helpful, your directions so clear, detailed. The camera angle is spot on. I was sad to see you didn't make any more videos since you are so good at it. Anyways, thanks again for helping us out. I would love to know how many summers this machine lasted you, or if it lasted a full year?
Thank you for this instruction! I have to say that the valve even may not be moving hard (mine was easy going). I used silicon spray and now it works perfectly again.
Great video... just got vacuum from Amazon warehouse, the vacuum was returned to Amazon probably because" inoperative "( I assumed) , 50 $ great deal, but !! once installed .... not working and stuck only one side direction. Thx for your video, toked me 10 minutes and the vacuum pump works great now, found a lot of sand inside... Do not use whit sand filter!! Ore if so , use the additional screen for the water inlet .
wow great video! quick and to the point - didn't lose me with babbling or talking to people in the back ground etc like so many other videos!! thanks for the quick cleaning instructions - now that i have removed the wheels lol I can put them back on and clean what is the real issue!
Thanks for posting this! I didn’t have the exact same issue but your explanation of the inner workings helped me fix mine. I also have a love hate relationship with this thing :)
Thats great. I love my vacuum and i knew one side was staying open or closed. It kept turning to right and up against wall. Im gonna tear into it now! Thanks so much!
15 min later..its working!! In my case it was a pine needle keeping it from closing in flapper. A pencil and ajr compressor to get it out.it was stubborn.
Wow I think you solved my headache , mine is brand new tried using it last year I was convinced that the screen was getting clogged in the two minutes it was down there, the results, buy something else.I can’t sell it doesn’t work. thank U thank U thank U how could they make something that is so defective but a simple fix.
@@lousminetrastillo3257 mine worked had to get all the sand silt out of the gears put it back together and it worked I’ve had to take apart again since but it worked
I'm so happy to see this video, I was getting frustrated already thinking it was broke. I will try to fix mines right now, let you know in a few minutes if that's the problem...
we also upgraded from the pump that came with the pool (1600gpm) to a 2800gpm. it seem to propel it nicely, however, the back wheels werent locked up and it would creep up the wall and stop there.
I did everything the video said and mine was still getting stuck. My sand filter is 1200gph. So I turned on my old filter pump and ran it at the same time as the sand pump. It was working great after I added more pump power.
I was hoping this was gonna solve my problems. Brand new vaccum, checked everything you did. After 15 minutes in the pool I still can't feel suction in the vacuum but the hose has plenty at the connection. Great video though thanks
Aesir Metalwyrks The D i May be misreading this because you are saying suction. But this vacuum works off the return pool water. Needs to be attached where the water returns to the pool
OK so no debris & no missing lubricant on my ZX50 : broken ball bearings. This tiny 3mm x 7mm x 3 mm thing controls the movement direction : forward or reverse (with only 1 wheel turning in reverse mode so the pool cleaner actually rotates). But when it's broken, forward direction won't engage. I'll get 10 new ball bearings in 2 days for 4.2 €. They're probably no more waterproof than the original part. No issue, they're easy and cheap to replace. NB : it's better not to immerge that pool-cleaner too long...
Great video, but I have to admit I love the unit works great and for the price is a steal. My issue was the pump broke and push sand into the pool via the vacuum so it did get stuck because of sand. Thanks for the video.
Well hello thank you for the video it was very very informative. I tried everything you did, but when it hit the wall sometime it still get stuck; we clean out everything/ now my hoses that came with it leak some : where they are connected could this a problem , when I felt the end water at the end of the vac it coming out strong; I got it last year and it work great
Hi Carol, it seems I have the same issue, though it works a bit better after applying the OPs hints, it still gets stuck due to the tubes. And those are at three points (all the 3 same connectors) that are not tight and let out water. So the remaining pressure that actually moves the cleaner is reduced. As our pump is only slightly above the needed for the cleaner, this might be the problem. Have to look into those tubes how to get them really tight?
One more comment. Apparently either I didn’t see in directions or see anywhere else. My pump was not powerful enough to make this thing rock and roll. It would work a little then give up and stop, I also Tried this video, but to avail, however when I switched my pump to bypass the thing works like a charm.
I did all of this and still have the same issue unforunately. Any other suggestions? It's been working fine for years. And the pump I have is more than powerful enough.
Absolute perfect turorial on taking apart and puttin back together I also removed my side rails but I didn’t get mine to work the pool I am trying to fix this for is full of destructive kids so I am sure there’s another underlying issue DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY TIPS ??
