The mounting holes on the Olimex ESP32 are a welcome feature!

To be honest I always put mounting holes on all of the PCBs I designed but I rarely use them. Especially on small dev boards, I never use the mounting holes. But I can understand some people do use them and it's a nice feature to have.

Since they started to ship via Hungary I had several packages lost and AliExpress no longer refunds those. They claim that it was delivered despite the fact that Hungarian Post and Serbian Post have no records of the package. Friends in Greece face the same issue.

Yes I can confirm they no longer refund these packages if they have confirmation of delivery from the courier company or if the package is still in transit. In 10 months or so since they implemented the change here, I had one which was still in transit past the quoted delivery time and they refused to refund even though it was clear it wasn't going to be delivered anymore. I got a refund through Revolut customer service, a chargeback for that payment..

Shipping to The Netherlands is still normal. Actually, it is better. like the multi packages you mentioned, Free shipping above $10 and sometimes even promoted 5 days delivery.

Hmm, I'm guessing it's the inductor they use for the internal dc-dc converter.. Unfortunately no easy fix for that.

I don't like the combined shipping with Aliexpress, it makes the orders take longer due to holding up entire order until every "combined" item is available to ship, and then instead of shipping with our national postal service who is reliable and has physical access to postal boxes/secure drop boxes, it goes with a scummy 3rd party courier service who will leave your package outside on the sidewalk, in the rain, to be stolen and send a picture of it on the sidewalk to the shipper as proof it was "delivered" so you can't get refunded. In my country (Canada), combined shipping is both slower and less reliable.

I see, so in some cases it made it worse because the standard postal service was good enough prior to the change. In my case it made it significantly better by being faster and I've only had one package lost in the 10 months or so since they introduced the change to group and deliver by local courier.

@@voltlog they could easily accommodate both by allowing customers to opt in or out of combined shipping, but I couldn't find such an option.

@@youtubeviewer7077I think the way it works is seller has the option to choose when he lists the product, which sets appropriate cost for shipping. I don't think it can be changed after a purchase has been made. On the seller side it might also affect the flow of money based on tracking number confirming delivering which would release the money to the seller.
