Intimate Portrait: Pam Dawber details the life of actress Pam Dawber through interviews with those close to her: Mark Harmon, Robin Williams, Molly Madden, Garry Marshall, Jenny O’Hara, Beau Bridges, Howard Storm and Garry Marshall.
I never knew any of this about Pam Dawber except Mork and Mindy. The remarkable thing is she didn't become full of herself. That's probably why she and Mark clicked. He's not full of himself either. Nice.
I too, was so glad that Pam & Robin got to work together again one last time. I think they both hoped it could continue, & that she could be a recurring character on The Crazy Ones. How nice it would have been to see the two of them tell another onscreen love story together as they did so many years ago. They always had such perfect chemistry. Maybe it was meant to be that she got to see her friend again before he decided to leave this earth.
Well, if the Crazy Ones had continued, (Why CBS cancelled the show is beyond me), Pam and Robin had both said in interviews that she would have returned from time to time as a recurring character. Pam said the only reason she did the show was to do something with Robin again. It was quite beautiful to see all the behind the scenes memories that came flooding back for both of them, and also the behind the scenes stories about how both of them were nervous wrecks before and during their episode. Robin and Pam were simply amazing together.
No... Not Mark and Pam, Me and Pam. But then she married that loser Mark Hammond. So he's got good looks and money. I didn't have a chance. That's why today, I live on a steady diet of government cheese and live in a van down by the river.
I prefer not to sound like a complete dork (I will anyway), but looking back, I think Robin and Pam might have been happy together too. He could make her laugh once and a while; they seemed really comfortable with each other. Weird nothing ever happened-it wouldn't have been the first time two people met on set. Both originally came from the Detroit area--probably both from the suburbs. Maybe it was fate. I almost think her and Mark are almost 'too' alike.. kind of straight and serious, sometimes that doesn't work.. but I don't know what they're like in their real lives ..based purely upon conjecture, so I could be entirely wrong. It's great that it 'did' work out. I like both of them alot. Stil, l I think Robin and her could have made a great pair. Maybe it could have been good for Robin too, one of my favorite entertainers/people ever
Mark Harmon is one of my favorite 🖥TV🖥 actors. His work on NCIS is legendary! His movie Summer School was hilarious. He is so fun to watch in any type of movie, show, or skit. Now Pam Dawber? She is PERFECTION in my opinion. She was always beautiful, almost angelic. Yet she had a naughtiness about her. Her teasing in Mork & Mindy was always so adorable, making Mork uncomfortable. The casting for that show was a brilliant idea! They struck⚡Lightning⚡in a bottle! Learning that Pam Dawber and Mark Harmon became husband and wife seemed to be another perfect fit for each of them. Mark Harmon is a strong but very decent man. Pam Dawber is again a perfect match. 🥰 It's great when two people meet, are so obviously perfect together, become a family and stay the way they always have been. Hollywood has so many FAKES, LIARS, and SLEEZEBAGS. It's wonderful to know that the decadence and sickening ideals don't always reach everyone.
I was really glad Pam got to be on Robin's show last season. I read they both wanted to do a Mork & Mindy movie and hoped they could make it happen in the next couple of years....thanks for the upload😊
A Mork and Mindy movie was on the table several times and Pam would have jumped at the chance to do a movie, but Robin's very busy schedule never allowed him the time to do it.
Love you Pam and continue to be your happy finding self that you got from your family and your dad's infectious happiness. He gave you a rare gift that has blessed you and probably carried you through more that even you realize. You are strong, you are a role model raising your kids and are a great actress both on stage and film. You sing, you laugh and you cry but you are one of we the people and respect all around dear Pam. God be with you always and bless you and we thank you for your gifts you shared with us and for showing moms it's okay to be home with our kids too. As an overworked mom for years, I left a successful career and raised my daughter and don't regret one second of it despite all the folks that think it's old fashioned. I love being a mom and wife. I am glad to just homeschool and be there 24/7 even now that she has graduated has physical issues that I will have her back for always. Don't have the stars aligned like you but I am content despite all my losses and even my brother's loss, aunt and uncle and about to lose another aunt any day now but I am holding on. Thanks for inspiring us
I don't know what people mean when they say "women were not intimidated by (an attractive actress)". Mostly women watched 'Charlie's Angels' and they were different combinations of three beautiful women over the years. I think what people mean is that women don't like women who are too cocky in their beauty. But to imply that women are inherently jealous people is wrong - we're no more jealous than men are. If a male star is too cocky, other men don't like him, but women will probably not see past the pretty face. I think it's the same for men and cocky, pretty women - while women have no time for them. To argue that we're pitifully threatened by pretty faces is rubbish. Women tend to comprise the core fanbase of 'pretty' female pop stars for one thing.
Absolutely love Pam, and her career and marriage to Mark is just great. But a little part of me will always wonder what her career would have been like if she chose to continue with her talents as an actor and singer instead of getting married and raising two kids??
I know what you mean. Even if she did get married and had her boys, She could have done 1 movie a year or a guest appearance on a sitcom or drama - that wouldn't have taken her away from her family for too long. I know that she did some benefit concerts with Jason Alexander.
morkandmindy3 Two reasons why she basically quit the business. 1) She didn't have the drive to want to continue with her career, especially after she got married, and 2) She didn't need to do it anymore, especially since Mark had, and still has a huge hit TV show NCIS!! I can't really blame Pam. She did do a couple of movies and some voice overs for animated projects, but it took Robin Williams getting back into TV to team up with him one more time. Point is she is happy with her life, and doing what she wants to do, and that is what we all strive for.
Love you both, whith emphati, for you Pam, Do you get it posotivt, Mark choose you. something tell me fore shore, that he was not attempt to for example most beautyfully women. He is a some of akind. You have all that he needed, his life, from me too you both.. Charlotta Bergström. Emphaty. Love you..
I was very fortunate to spend some time with Ms. Dawber while filming the Charlie Wedemyer Story in Charleston SC. I operated a business in the historic City Market selling locally made cotton products such as rugs and afghans, struck up a conversation only to find out the project she was working on was about ALS, which was what my Father died of. Over the period of the shoot I was visited by Mrs. Wedemyer as well as other family members. The last night they were in town I was invited to the Wrap Party and really enjoyed myself. What a wonderful person.
Wow. That's really cool. I've heard others talk about meeting her during movie shoots and they all said what a wonderful person she was and that she was very friendly to everyone.
One of the most lovely, likeable and lovable personalities I've ever seen. Very sad to learn about her sister. Heartbreaking. In spite of what happened to Robin Williams I suppose she feels lucky to have reunited with him one last time.
I met Pam Dawber twice, Once in our Home state of Michigan and again at Walt Disney World at the Hollywood Studios in the late 1990's She's as sweet as you see her on this video.
Underworld Films I wrote this after the death of Robin Williams, August 2014. I laughed so much I cried I laughed so much I nearly died It was all too much It was all too little too late The demons that haunted you at night in bed Was the emptiness in your head and not your soul All those years lost searching For redemption from prying eyes not knowing That this clown Was burdened by an unimaginable dark cloud The loss of your dearest departed friend Didn't mean it signaled the end But it did steal something And left a remarkable gift so amazing and profound. When on one hand it took, the other you received and gave It was not enough to silence the millions of critics in your mind Why didn't we spot you were running out of time? I laughed at an Alien called Mork From a planet called Ork And how could deary me, Forget Mrs Doubtfire, that wonderful Scottish nanny. The Doctor you played in Good Will Hunting, Gave a tiny clue to your depth of compassion and feeling. But, alas the greatest character you played was the one we never truly knew. S.Miah
What a decent human being. Lovely both on the inside and on the outside. Robert John Bardo the killer of her friend Rebecca Schaeffer was sentenced to life without parole. To date he has served 30 years and he’s 50 years old. I hope he lives to be a hundred.
Did you know...? Pam Dawber had auditioned for the title role of 'Tabitha', a spin-off of 'Bewitched (1964-1972) as a young adult Tabitha Stephens. She didn't get the part, but Lisa Hartman did.
Thanks for posting this. I've had a crush on Pam since 1978. She's gorgeous, and yet she seems so down-to-earth. I'm so glad she's found happiness. And today, at 71, she still looks great!
