looks like ccp spied on Elite Dangerous for this. E:D has the same mechanic.

CCP introduced some new features into the game -> shit loads of complaining posts on Reddit telling how broken this might be -> CCP tuned down strength of new stuff onto the ground -> effectively it became something useless and nothing changed essentially. Yup, typical eve stuff.

DemonGR not even joking but 2 weeks earlier the abyssal stuff could give scram a 40% range buff.

Looks like CCP learned from the Masters Somerblink / iwantisk Gambling Pages :D A new way of isk sinks with the soft touch of addictive "roll the Dice" Phenomena :D i like it :D Thanks for showing it in Detail Suitonia o/

Garmurs will probably struggle with an abyssal warp disruptor's cap cost, the Stiletto (or any inty for that matter) with its 80% cap reduction bonus for tackle mods (probably) shouldn't. Even with a max negative roll of +150% activation cost, a Stiletto ignores that down to an effective 30% cap cost increase and so would still be paying less cap per cycle than a standard module, unless I'm mistaken here. I'd have to see how it affects a complete fit because it might still be enough to be a problem, but this is too much math to do in my head.

omg... roll to get epic loot. wtf was ccp thinking

Not really. The stats and number of officer mods was limited. In fact, it is possible in solo pvp to identify the relevant module used and adjust accordingly. (e.g. if I see a daredevil flying at 4100km/s, I can deduce he is fitted with an A-Type MWD, 2x nanos, etc.. I he has 2x nanos, he has no magstabs, hence his dps is under etc etc etc). There was no random element in module stats, hence you were rewarded in your knowledge of possible fits. With these mutations, CCP introduced randomised modules, increasing uncertainty in solo/small gang combat. I hate that this introduces randomness. It reminds me of Diablo drops, or Path of Exile equipment modification with orbs. Feels wrong.

To be fair, this looks pretty reasonable, especially with how you described the chance of actually rolling a perfect roll. There's going to be rich people out who will try and succeed, but the cost of the module will be so high its going to really hinder the average tackle bro from fitting these mods. I'm really excited for the abyssal LSE's and 1600's. Finally buffer mods that are good for battleships.

Yeah, they are really good for battleships, mostly because you don't really care about bad CPU/PG or Mass/Sig penalties on BS, so will only need to roll HP, whereas mild penalties there can easily break cruisers.

but the cost of the module will be so high its going to really hinder the average tackle bro from fitting these mods. Then why introduce this mechanic/mods? For Jita mission runners?

Because rich people will buy the perfect rolled ones and then lose them cause they still suck at the game. No different than officer mods. Even good players die, so there's always the chance they'll die and lose it all the same. That being said, due to the flexible nature of the mechanic, not every module is going to be some perfect rolled 100b isk module. The LSE/1600's are a perfect example of this, you can flunk the fitting rolls, the sig rolls, but as long as you get an HP bonus roll, you will have a market for them in BS and potentially battlecruisers. Tackle mods are the same, maybe you can't fit one that got a max penalty cap roll with increased fitting on your keres, but a battleship or battlecruiser won't care about slightly more cap usage, or slightly more fitting. Its easier to work around.

Module sinks from all the bricking... huh. Didnt even notice that. Industry guys will have a blast for sure. And deadspace harvesters, like you mentioned.

this is cheeky thing. Why not give us the choice with a maximum of point we use to upgrade the module. and if we decreased some of the stats we get more points to put somewhere else.

Suitonia, you have massively low balled the probability of a perfect roll. For example the speed mod of the afterburners you rolled had a variance of -5% to +15% and the percentage modified was calculated to two decimal places. The chances of a perfect roll, even on that single stat, are not 1 in 21, it is 1 in 2001, if I'm not mistaken. It's significant though because it drastically increases the number of potential outcomes. So instead of having a reasonable chance of getting a +15% AB from 21 attempts you are likely to see a single AB in the +14-15% range from 20 attempts. With a warp disruptor cap cost variance of +150% to -10%, be happy with anything that has a penalty of less than +60% or so, though I think CCP could have afforded to make that range +150% to 0%. The last thing this game needs is further incentive to fly cancer ships. In fact there are several modifiers on all sorts of modules that I imagine could be forced to roll penalties and still be good if it rolls well enough on the stats you are looking for. Would you pay more cap for an extended range point? I would have to say yes in a lot of situations. Would you want a deadspace armor rep that reps harder and faster for less cap at the cost of CPU and grid, especially since you can re-roll an abyssal mod? Probably.

99% serpentis webs.... yeah..... nothing bad will come of this
@ockeojoj
@ockeojoj 6 лет назад
To be fair though most of the time 90% will screw you just as bad as 99%. Not in all cases ofc, but generally.
@AndrewBrownK

i guess you also gotta consider some people will be zipping by in OP prop mods, so there might as well be OP webs. Idk. Maybe that counts as "balance", maybe not.
