After hearing the author’s explanation of the story, I kind of get the movie’s theme better. I just which the theme was better displayed in the movie.

The movie is pretty unrealistic for a couple good reasons. If there were a large power outage in the northwest you know the people up there would generally be well stocked to camp out quite comfortably with tarps, fire, kerosene, hunting and foraging. The idea that the people would go out apocalyptic in even 6 months is silly. Also in the movie its portrayed that men are an ever present threat which is also silly as there would be at least dozens of men who would remain quite well off enough to protect the community and kill off scoundrels who try to thieve etc. This is my only problem with the movie.

Ur like the living paradigma of a basic man with too much ego and few brains that feels the need to explain everything (wrongly) to everyone when nobody asked. Get a nap.

Andrea Gonzalez lol there were rumors but I was making a joke about the fact into the forest it seems is about the apocalypse. I see Ellen is doing a lot of independent stuff none of which seems accessible to most people. I want to see everything this girl makes and different projects such as this one above are discussed and then seem to vanish or or never heard of again. Stitch and bitch was one example I think, this one above, Tallula I think it was called.

+Robert Baur It isn't Ellen Page in the last of us. She worked on Beyond twos souls, but not The Last of Us00

"the problem with novels is that they're generally too long." ...OR........
@lagarconnemusic

+BlueHeartXXX I think she meant too long to make into a film? Or maybe not :)
@McDougal_

Ranya Dube That's my point. The problem isn't novels being too long, it's movies being too short. 2 hours is rarely enough time to develop a story as good what you would find in a novel.

Thats why when theres a novel behind a movie, i prefer to watch the movie first... Ive watched Into the forest years ago and I find it beautiful, thought provoking and stressful... after a couple of years Ive read the novel and finished it days ago and watched the movie afterwards and i find the movie not as good as the novel cause its too short ahaha..though while reading i had these 2 girls in my mind so its kinda nice....I loved evan's performance in the movie, i just realized that i really liked her now hahaha..

There is NOTHING apocalyptic about this movie, it misses the mark by a million miles. Dull as ditchwater...

As the director stated in this interview, they were aiming for a psychological character drama, the apocalypse was the backdrop for it. Personally I think they hit their mark.
