Climb new heights here: win.gs/1aXUVRM
Stefan Glowacz and Chris Sharma climb Majlis al Jinn, the second-largest cavern in the world. Staring down into a 160 meter deep hole in the ground in the country of Oman, Stefan Glowacz and Chris Sharma descend beneath the earth's surface to begin a climb like no other. The two legends challenge the world's largest unclimbed roof and set a new milestone in climbing.

God, I miss it! I remember when Stefan was starting to send some of the classics and when Chris burst into the scene. I was a local poseur just starting to break 5.10 and got to spend a whole summer doing nothing but climbing (& making mistakes).

Looks like something they'd only do if being paid a large some of money. God love sponsorships from deep pocketed companies selling crap to teenagers. It allows professionals to spend their time doing things that they love.
@carsonhunt4642
@carsonhunt4642 10 лет назад
Yea I always find it funny when professional athletes try and bitch about how hard what they do is. It's like, OH NO! To get over-paid to do what you love daily! That must suck!
@Wazoodles
@Wazoodles 10 лет назад
Carson Hunt you don't make a whole lot of money as a sponsored a climber ya know
@andresbernal1425

Very, very few climbers make a living out of it, and they don't get as large paychecks as people use to think. But most importantly, climbing at the top, where the juiciy sponsors are, demands so much effort and focus. You must give up on lots of things -from tasty unhealthy food to having a normal social life. You must push (read punish) your body to unimaginable limits. You really have to want it in order to endure the suffering. So you may as well say that these guys get to do the things they love because they've proven their love with plenty of sacrifice.

well RedBull always screams sellout. I agree. But I think they are just glad to have a sponsor that pays for the expedition so they can realize that project. They won't come home rich afterwards.

They give pro athletes water in Red Bull cans and have them drink it while filming. True story.

Why does the film not show the bit where they have abseiled from the top with a rock drill to put in the bolts thus reducing it to a series of difficult but small boulder challenges - negligible genuine risk
@georgelees8172
@georgelees8172 9 лет назад
why is risk important, maybe a handful of other climbers in the world could have done that route, why does using bolts make it any less of an achievement. climbing with risk is stupid. climbing with strength power and technique is what is impressive.
@lucadressler2569
@lucadressler2569 7 лет назад
Frank Gibson wtf? What do you expect here? A free solo or what? It is such a hard route you have to bolt it
