As an INTP I become so obsessed with a girl that I start to fall in love with the idea of her then her herself.

How to tell that I (an INTP) like you: I will go out of my way to actually leave my house/normal routine and go to places or events that I know you will also be at.

A few things that tend to be problematic for us INTPs in crushes/relationships: 1) Since we spend a lot of time in our own worlds, the number of people aware of our existence can be limited. 2) We don't really do the "love at first sight" thing, and need to spend a lot of time around someone before we know them well enough to develop an interest in them. 3) If a person we potentially have an interest in develops an interest in us first, we're in an awkward situation, because we haven't finished analyzing them to determine suitability, so we might push them off until we can make up our mind--then if we do later decide we are interested, they've already written us off because we didn't express interest immediately. 4) The whole dating thing can be severely stressful.

I related to all of these except for the part where you said that I would approach my crush😂 Maybe it's because I'm younger still, but when I have a crush on a guy I try so hard to keep acting normal around them that sometimes I end up avoiding them...

Stage 2: Awkward eye contacts because of staring Stage 3: looking for signs of subtle allowance from the crush Stage 4: Going out of the way to contact the crush Stage 5: Sparkling eyes every single time the crush is in front an INTPs eyes.

Being an itnp is not always easy too . Problems going to sleep because my tornado brain won't shut down. Asking yourself why others don't see the logics of things. Being misunderstood most of the time. Social isolation if you don't watch out. World expects extrovert behaviour .

As an INTP I completely relate to this, and saying we become "obsessed" makes it sound a bit creepy but it is true.. I will go out of my way to talk to someone only if i'm truly interested. I think ti and ne become hungry for more information about them, curious to figure them out, understand them, to see every possible facet in their minds/personality. This becomes addicting too because everyone is a little complex in their own way and one thing leads to the next. Although I'm pretty sure that instinctual variants would definitely play a part in this too.

"If you have an INTP in your life, do not take them for granted." Yeah, because if you do take us for granted for too long, we become very apathetic towards you. Once we've put energy into "consuming" you, if you'd like to use that term from the video, and you retract from us or ignore us, we wonder why we even BOTHERED with you in the first place. Unfortunately, some of us (myself included) are pushovers and may let you back in our life, but, seriously, don't think that erases how we feel. If we do this, we do it with a grain of salt and you'll never know how our feelings towards you have turned for the worse. It's not a good thing for you because you may think we care, but we actually care even less about you than other people we just write off in the first place. We talk about you behind your back and become like the gossipy, shallow people we hate. Taking an INTP for granted turns them into the worst person they can be. They go like, full demon mode. Not to mention the fact that we beat ourselves up for trusting the people we've chosen to "consume" too much..... INTPs are type that experience happiness and depression in near-equal quantities, because they are just so prone to being rejected right from the get-go (but we're hypocrites because we reject people from the get-go, so its a double-edged sword).

As an INTP female I actually have a book. A literal record of everything. All things said, did, done.... I don't really study my boyfriend but I definitely watch him a lot. I watch how his eyes move and how often he blinks and what he looks like when he sleeps and when his voice changes tones... And I lied...apparently I am studying him...but is it obsession? I have 600 pics of him on my phone including when he is sleeping... Does this count? His eyes look like dragon eyes... They have islands of gold around his pupil like a solar eclipse over a green galaxy... And they alternate in color too. When he is upset the get greener and when he is mad they look blue... From my INTP experience, when I come to the conclusion that I’m crushing on someone, then I suddenly don’t want to be around them anymore. When I am around them, it becomes a game of “am I acting weird? Did I say something wrong? Do I look bad today?” Ultimately, that person just isn’t worth the effort or stress being around them induces, so I just avoid being around them until I get over it. And this is just a natural, unintentional process that I go through. It’s sometimes worse being that only into girls ( lesbian... but I hate that word) and I go through all of my thoughts of “maybe they like me?!” but I am fully aware that there is roughly a 0.1% chance they actually reciprocate any feelings. And I feel relatively comfortable talking to guys, and a lot of time that translates to flirting apparently, which just makes everything messy....

You should probably gather enough information before doing such, and be quite content with the decision once made. So we... "obsess", and gather information. And then we graft you onto our everything, so we better have a pretty good idea what all the buttons and dials do and mean, and how to fix whatever is broken because "You" are now "Us!" :D We're committed to "Us!" (How can you not be? Gah!) And now we can share our brains, and our feelings, and as long as you keep contributing to the fantastical "Us!" you're a fantastic addition! Why would NOT doing that be a better plan? :) I like you. I don't want to discard you. I've already decided/determined that you are wonderful! Was I wrong? Is there a fault in my judgement algorithm? One problem with dating as an INTP is we do study you and want to know what makes you tick which scares some women off thinking we are clingy. Personally, I want to find character and the value of a person before my feelings get in the way. The downside on the other end is once we are comfortable that you are a good fit for our life we relax a bit and our passion for deep dives of study go to other things the person that thrived on the attention feels taken for granted. While we are extremely loyal it may not feel that way to others as new ideas are often more compelling passions than a sharp focus on our partner. It simply means that we've come to thing of you as a part of us and we are back to enriching the wisdom of our unit. While some types focus on taming the world as providers of money for family, we work smarter and not harder and want to make our lives more comfortable through life hacking our way to an easy life. That makes me very minimalistic.

I feel like us INTP’s have pretty high standards, which is why they get excited when they like someone because they know it’s difficult to find someone that they actually like. Edit: also “when they realize you are their person in life, they will want you to share your main thoughts, ideas, and values. So they will share that with you.” Actually we just like the truth a lot, we treat everyone like this weather we have a crush on them or not. Friends or even enemies we will always tell the truth to. We like everyone to know everything always, including ourselves. Which also explains why we are so nosy sometimes lol. Even though “knowing everything” is an exaggeration of course incase you didn’t realize. Because we know nobody knows everything since it’s impossible, which is the whole reason why we want ourselves and other people to have as much knowledge as possible.

Bingo! I have worked hard at small talk. But what I really want to know are your deepest thoughts. I had to figure out how to argue when I got older. Arguing was not allowed in our house growing up. You could disagree but no complaints,tantrums or yelling.

I'd say as an INTP, "we allow you into our mind", THAT, is the ultimate form of trust from an INTP as you can get. The INTP'S mind is the INTP'S most prized possession, and to allow you into their world, especially if it's all the way into their mind palace, then you are a very very lucky and special person. That is probably a once or twice in a lifetime event for an INTP.

I'm an INTP, my crush story is still on till this moment. but yeah here it is: I liked a girl - one of my bestfriends in collage - that she is smart, gentle, white-heart, never drama queen and she is good annalistic one (I think she is ESTJ or ENTJ) and my story began ones I knew that she is the one that my heart beat when I see.. my reaction to this fact was not good at all, the last thing I want is thinking using my heart, and since I'm still young with no certification yet neither money and my culture is kinda rough about that I kept my crushness in the shadows.. I went crazy analyzing why her? nothing was clear and for me - because of my culture - I needed to shut my mouth up and keep going in my life, AND I'm still driving myself crazy "why would I let someone control my mood? why do I love her? why.. why.. why..". SIX MONTHS trying my best to not show her what I really feel ! after this period I could calm myself and focus on my life again and ignore my heart since I finally learned the pattern of how my heart feelings works.. but that's not the end LOL.. That one late night with those vibes smoking on the balcony, I let that crush feel shine again, and the next day I couldn't handle myself, so it was the time to do something real in the physical world! I picked the best moment to talk to her in private, we talked a lot with one main subject in my head "I want her to hate me" (Guys im not psycho, my circumstances is making me to do this ).. sooo I told her as much as I can of stories of mine that could let her hate me yet breaking our friendship so I can catch the fact in my head "you will not get her anymore so shut up".. the surprise was when she respected that i'm telling her... *GOD DAMN I REALLY LIKE HER!!!*... but it was that moment that I told her.. " Eey, You remember last summer? I was acting weird sometimes.. you know why right? *small laugh* " she said: "I KNEW IT!!! *Both Laughing* " I said while laughing: " WELL NOT ANYMORE :"D " she said while still laughing: "You better be you dump :"D " And that's how I dealt with my crush.. we are still good friend nothing changed, actually maybe we got closer but what I'm sure about is that for her I'm the last guy she would think about a relationship with. And I'm still thinking about her. :( but at least I can shut myself with facts these days "she don't want you". And what I like here is now I know how my heart works :D even if you say I'm stupid... It is so amazing to watch someone, particularly a wonderful woman, who so genuinely adores an INTP as an INTP who has had trouble finding people who "get me". I had a mom who left me as a toddler & along w/ other circumstances that have made it so that I feel that my unbalanced self is not "made to be in a relationship". as an INTP, this is very accurate. When you say "obsessed" that's quite creepy but also creepy how true this is. I have gone out the way to approach and talk to my crush, i will have a crush on one person for years. "and don't take them for granted" Is also a very true statement, Once we got ignored by the person we're interested in , we would start to wonder why we approach you first. We can cut you out of our lives so fast that even usain bolt is slower, but we would still think about you or maybe feelings too!

All my crush stories have ended in distaster. Or rather, never progressed to anything beyond a crush. It turns out that all the time it takes to acquire sufficient data is also the same time it takes for a girl to lose interest in me. And most of the time I have no clue they are interested.

Lol, As an INTP myself I find it very funny to see how others deal with the quirks of the warmest robots. Lol.

Also INTPS when they love someone will feel it to the bottom of their soul and will literally die or kill for that person without hesitation because of the implicit trust between these two. That’s in my opinion is another reason why we are so closed off, because people who aren’t good for us can genuinely take control of us in ways we didn’t know were possible.

INTP’s along with other rationals are often seen as cold distant and unfeeling but it is my belief that, (as an INTP myself) we feel just as much as our idealist counterparts e.g. _NF_. We process things at the same deep level it’s just that our emotional energy level is so low that this is reserved for those who we truly like. Basically being around people that we don’t particularly enjoy (most people) takes a lot out of us and so we are eternally in low power mode and emotions are what saps that power the most, so we turn it off so we can survive. When around people we genuinely like, I have seen rationals be able to be misconstrued as artisans, because we are genuinely so happy to be around someone that doesn’t exhaust us.

A message to other INTPs including my younger self: the biggest mistake you can make is failing to acknowledge the value of testing the systems you designed against the real world. Some INTP commenters here expressed that they fall in love with their conception of a crush but only had a small amount of real interaction with them. In this context, testing your system means allowing your crush to reveal their true selves to you directly, and delaying the conclusion about your potential relationship until you have more direct empirical data. This will not be a pleasant experience at first, like the feeling of scrubbing until your skin is raw. You must develop this tool and use it on your most valuable systems to unlock your potential, but do so with care to avoid hurting yourself. Godspeed and good luck my friends.

As for a "crush story," it's essentially what you've described. It boils down to something akin to an obsession, and a neverending desire to "mentally mate." This is very impressive. I'd never seen that "obsessive" aspect brought out in reference to an INTP and his/her love interests, but it's practically altogether consuming. It's something one has to work at, to arrive at some sort of a balance.

So So True. 100% Obsessed, Any Inconsistencies or Rejections will result in a being cut off. We analyse everthing & rejection in any form will be analyzed to the extreme. Every aspect will then be based off this slight, so asxan INTP i hate falsified information, this includes teasing or being lead on, also playing hard to get is illogical & can anger an INTP. We really don't do loud arguments or loud disagreements! Countinue loud or fail to understand how right we are and we walk never to return.

As an INTP, I I've already become obsessed with you, created my internal universe/idea of you, and then come up with reasons as to why it won't work... or will.

As an INTP, I often know the people around me super well. I analyze things like common reactions, speech patterns, and emotional reactions to everything. This process is often a lot quicker than most people would think, and others are often surprised at how well I know them in such a short time.

I am an intp woman and this is completely correct. Also, for me, if I like you, you'll know it because I will tell you. Very openly, as soon as I realize it and I'm sure of it. No games played.

It's more than just liking to know about you. It's *a vital need.* If you don't feed an INTP person information, you make them *sad* or *interested in anything else* that can satisfying their curiosity.

Wow. Hearing things about me, which are actually about your guy, is enlightening. We are NOT balanced and need someone to provide the things we lack and vice versa. From my experience being an INTP the thing to watch out for in a relationship with one is when we are hurt we shutdown and become apathetic to those that hurt us and we won't just get over it. Left unchecked that will tear the relationship apart. We take words to heart so never say anything you can't take back.

When you said that INTPs start studying their crushes like they study info is something i can relate to because a couple months ago (before i knew about MBTI) I started INTERROGATING my crush, I HAD A WHOLE PAGE FULL OF INFO ON THEM. Favorite color, hobby, what they can or can’t do, other friends of theirs, etc. 👀 Now that i think about it, it sounds creepy.

As an INTP I keep my crushes very secret I don't tell anyone, but you're right we do really study the person we are obsessed with, we naturally do things like remembering middle names or birthdays or their favorite color, random things they've mentioned before about their past ect. however when you've studied someone like that enough and you know you can't be in a relationship with them it sucks. INTP's think constantly, so when we find out we can't be with them we have to train ourselves to stop our own brains from reminding ourselves of them. It's obvious this has happened to me. I love to dream and I dream a lot sometimes, I would dream about this person I was obsessed with as if they were my best friend, or I would have a brief encounter with them, like they were a receptionist or something. A fact I still can't forget about the person I had a crush on, was that they never remembered their dreams, which personally I think would suck, but I guess they don't really know the difference, anyways, that was my experience as an INTP with a crush. The last point I disagree on, even though you may have experienced being wanted to change the way you do things like argue or eat, I think that is specific to him and not generally INTP Edit: damn this had a lot of mistakes in it, I hardly knew what I was trying to say half of the time.

I'm an INTP and the one person I loved is still the one for me and no one else will do. We're not even together. I haven't seen him in years but I still think about him. I don't look for romantic partners. It's actually sad because I know we'll most likely never be together again.

As an INTP, I'll say that you are 100% spot on, and are awesome. I love that you are willing and good with being "posessed" (consumed?) by your INTP and recognize that is a place of honor and not some kind of domination. If you're at that place, the INTP has let you inside their walls and trust you complicitly.

I'm an INTP married to another INTP. Neither of us had dated at all before we met. We were friends, and gradually got to know each other for 2+ years before we started dating. Over the course of those 2+ years, we found we were spending more and more time talking with each other. We had excellent conversational chemistry. Once we started dating, we knew pretty quickly that we had found our person. We dated for almost 2 years before we became "officially" engaged, but that was because we'd decided ahead of time when we wanted to get married, and we calculated how long ahead of that date we wanted to let the rest of the world know that it was going to happen.

I‘m just gonna leave this messenge from the INFPs who might have a crush on you, to all the INTPs out there: WHY CAN I RELATE TO YOU SO WELL, BUT AT THE SAME TIME YOU‘RE SO CONFUSING, BUT SOMEHOW THAT MAKES YOU SO INTERESTING AHHH....Man haha no seriously, please tell us more about your thought processes, I could literally listen to my crush talk about their interests, random facts, opinions on things, and their questions that they have in life, for hours. Seriously, most of the times we are really overwhelmed with...existence and at the same time we‘re terribly bored and disappointed with life, so when someone challenges our minds and helps us grow as a person, we really appreciate them and if possible never want to let them go again. And if you like an INFP, the most important thing you gotta do is, make them feel safe. We get hurt really easily and feel everything too much. We don‘t need you to fully get our feelings, we just need you by our side, to show us that the world can be nice as well.

As an INTP who's suffering a recent break-up, this is exactly what I needed to hear! I was emotionally distraught over the break-up for a long while, to the point even my best friend thought I was acting strangely. Even more recently, I re-developed a crush on someone I met before my ex, and started engaging in this behavior towards him. I knew that I was obsessing over this person and I thought it was strange myself how quickly I wanted to befriend him. I would have thought that actively seeking someone would be endearing, but in my experience, it seems more off-putting, and those around me would rather I stay in my quiet place and engage less frequently with them. Perhaps I'm surrounding myself with people inherently opposed to my personality, but I can't seem to find where I fit best...

I become extremely obsessive. I say that in the sense of constantly thinking about you, remembering little things about you, etc. But when I’m in this state of mind, I know the feeling will eventually pass so, I normally don’t act upon my feelings and they eventually fade.

The closest I’ve gone to having a crush on someone is when this guy in my class gave this speech and I was like, “woah! He’s really smart and funny!” And then he gave a presentation on this experiment and I was like “Welp, he’s the smartest person in the class.” Then, I started thinking about him more, then I just did nothing and continued being a hermit :) I’m only thirteen though. I only find people attractive when they’re really intelligent and charismatic lol
