I have a very mild astigmatism, with a cylinder of 1.25 and at roughly 90 degrees, meaning the ovalization long axis is near vertical. I notice that I can bring distance vision from very slightly degraded, maybe 20/30 or a little worse, into sharp focus just by furrowing my brow slightly and tilting my head a bit so my eyes are looking out from just below the edge of the upper lid. I've figured out that what must be happening is the pressure of the eyelid is restoring the shape of the cornea to nearly normal, and there is a band of sharp focus running along the underside of the lid. I find I don't really want to go to the trouble of glasses with distance correction when I can just tilt my head and squint ever so slightly when I need to see distant objects in sharp focus. Otherwise by normal vision is perfectly adequate for normal activities. Is this cornea reshaping by the lid a thing? Or is it something else?
