A draft of an introduction to a video series I'm working on about making one of Jennie Alexander's post & rung chairs. I've got the video about 1/2 done as of now (Dec 29, 2022) and will announce it on my blog when it's ready.

This was very informative. Thank you for sharing Peter. I find it interesting that JA started with turning her chairs when she first started out. All the best in 2023.

Very nice overview of the fine details overlooked by so many. A nice tribute too.

Looks like it is going to be a wonderful series. Has anyone ever seen one of these with arms?

Great intro, funny I purchased JA's book just 4 days ago from LAP, I look forward to the series. Here in Europe, I am wondering how to get some hickory bark strips. Is there any other species one can get it from, or anyone knows of a good source in the US? Thanks

Yes, I can hear the thin slat when you slide your hand over the wood; it was alarming sound to my ear! When you twirl the chair around, I can see/hear the lightness;I bet that chair weighs between 3 and 5 pounds!

Hi Peter - I followed the video link here from your blog post. I can't wait to see the full series - what wood(s) are you using for the build? I've recently started riving and shaving an ash log for making my first JA chair. Looking forward to hopefully having your series to reference soon.

white oak posts and slats - hickory rungs. Ash is a favorite of mine as well. JA hated it. No reason given other than "it's not white oak."

Six chairs in a summer? Can't eat unless you can bang out six+ a week. See Clissett, Gimson, Neal, et al.

I posted on my blog the other day that I was a windbag. "Introduction" is not the best word to describe this. It's an in-depth look at this chair & how it came about.
