This method is exactly why so many people mistype themselves. It can only get so far but MBTI is about the "cognitive functions" and not merely the letter dichotomies. Of course, this is a beginner's video but I hope everyone who finds interest in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator will not be contented by personality theory alone but really study the 8 cognitive functions (and their own unique stacking) behind the 16 types. Good luck, everyone.
Hey ! I'm really interested in MBTI and I'm pretty at ease with every letter signification and everything but I must admit, I don't understand a thing about the cognitive functions part, although I tried to do some research. Would you mind explaining it, even in an introductory way? Thanks in advance ! ^-^
its all just theories and fancy talk. i can picture peter griffin now "mmm i find this meatloaf shallow and pedantic" "mmm yes look only at letter dichotomies and ignore cognitive functions"
I feel like I'm the only INFJ sometimes. All the people at my school are different types of introverts that don't necessarily socialize the way that I do and, theoretically, there are only 8 kids out of the 800 in my school that are like me. :(
+Mei Misaki Maybe you just don't fit into two extremes. Do you feel more comfortable in a loud or big party, or do you prefer perhaps a small party with fewer people? I think it's a possibility that you're just simply not either. I'll do some research
Took this test after deciding what to pursue at university, (Physics) and the outcome was INTJ which predicts a science and engineering profession. It actually describes me pretty accurately.
I've been professionally tested twice, and taken countless free tests; still come up only ENFP. Look into the types. ENFPs are the most introverted of the extraverts. I personally love the net cause it gives me access to fun things, people, interesting things to read, music etc. And many people seem to think Extraverts can't have social anxiety or be awkward and shy. Which is false. The types are more about cognitive patterns than a measure of social skills. You can be shy, awkward and anxious in dealing with people and still want to be around them.
A year ago I was obsessed with personality tests, and I've read a lot about Myers-Briggs. I ended up learning a lot about myself, but I'd like to offer some advice or words of caution to anyone interested in this sort of thing, particularly MBTI: 1) Myers and Briggs were amateurs, the realm of psychology is said to have a short information half-life (5 years I heard), MBTI doesn't take the Neuroticism trait into consideration AND you're likely to come up with a new personality type if you retest in a month. So take it with a grain of salt. It can still be very useful for self-discovery and self-knowledge, though! 2) To put personality tests to good use, you gotta follow up on the test by reading a lot about your type, because the only way to know if your test result was "correct" is to read more and see if you actually identify with the defining traits of that type. When you're sure about your type, you can get a lot of useful advice about all aspects of life. In particular you should learn about your functions (basically what you're best at and what you're worst at). 3) Do your research and you will grow as a person, but don't let the confines of your type limit you. Always keep an open mind, and keep growing beyond your suggested traits. Don't let other's opinions of you or your type throw you off . Know what you feel (or think) is right about you, and act accordingly. True self-knowledge is a trait of the wise. Also, congratulations to everyone testing as INFP. Some say other people do drugs to be like us INFPs. I guess that's why I have this weird fascination for clouds, or the way the sun hits the pine trees in the morning, or the pattern in the wood grain on a table. Other people just don't get it, but I enjoy it. I can't stop dreaming and I wouldn't have it any other way :) Know who you are, and be proud of that person! Tests are only one way to get there. Cheers!
My results are: You have slight preference of Introversion over Extraversion (11%) You have slight preference of Intuition over Sensing (12%) You have distinct preference of Thinking over Feeling (62%) You have slight preference of Perceiving over Judging (11%) :3
I am an "ISTP" PERSONALITY (“THE VIRTUOSO”) it says I am a born to be engineer. Funny I am a software engineer professionally and electrical engineer for hobby and i love it. so this was 100% accurate for me. These 4 questions could of helped me a long time a go; When i did not know who i was as a person. You earned a like my dear lady...
It's good to remember that these types are more areas of spectra rather than hard categories. For instance because there are two categories where I tend to fall in the middle, I would identify as an XNXP: whether I'm extroverted or introverted and whether I try to reason something out or feel it out depends hugely on my context. But inevitably I do rely a lot on abstraction and "fuzzy" thoughts.
This is quite an oversimplified version of the Myers-Briggs, which is understandable given time constraints, but still. I've studied this in-depth, and many of the video's examples, especially the J/P preference, are actually ambiguous and difficult to pin down. J vs. P really depends on your priorities; a Judger can have a disasterous schedule if they don't care how they spend their time, and a Perceiver is perfectly capable of organizing events if they have the right motivation. Still, I've heard many conflicting viewpoints as to how these functions exhibit themselves; there is no one-size-fits-all. Each person also shows traits only to a certain extent, and all eight of the traits actually relate with each other in fairly complex ways for each person (in what's known as the "Eight-Function Model"). A good blog to look at if you're interested in learning more is personalityjunkie.com. My favorite free test is at 16personalities.com, but after you take it I recommend looking at another couple types that are close to your results (look at the percentages) and then backing that up with research. Some types, such as INTP and INTJ, seem very similar at face value, and it can be very difficult to decide what you are. It took me months to decide that I am definitely an INTJ, and I STILL think I exhibit many traits of an INTP, even though I know it's not my type. You may be confused for a while, but trust me, it's well worth it to understand why other people sometimes do such "crazy" things (or why you do, for that matter!).
I was going to take some tests voluntarily. However; as soon as the websites said "$49.99 please"...I dipped out. Not all of us have big piles of money to spend on these tests.
I did the Myers-Briggs test at school and I'm an INFP or a healer and my guy best friend is an ENFP or a champion. So we are a lot alike, just he's a a lot more outgoing than I am :P
You have strong preference of Extraversion over Introversion (89%) You have moderate preference of Sensing over Intuition (50%) You have distinctive preference of Feeling over Thinking (75%) You have moderate preference of Perceiving over Judging (33%) so Im an ESFP
If you knew anything about the Myers-Briggs test, you would know that Isabel Briggs Myers was the daughter of Katharine Cook Briggs, not her daughter-in-law. People make mistakes, but there is ZERO excuse for giving false information about a subject in a video whose entire reason for existing is to provide information about that same subject. This leaves you with ZERO credibility. Thumbs down.
lol yeah i took the test a while back. I've been researching the topic for a while too. I would have never guessed you were a feeling type! You seem like a T.
Honestly, Pinkie Pie would have been a better extrovert example if we want to go to the extremes. Rainbow Dash enjoys performing for and having the admiration of crowds but Pinkie Pie literally thrives off of constantly throwing parties, befriending everyone she meets, and will get depressed if she's alone for too long.
Recharge being the key. Introverts can be very socially active and enjoy it. Doing so drains them similar to physical activity. After which your body needs nutrition and rest to recover. An introvert gets that mental recovery or recharge from time spent alone. Finding the balance between the social and the recharge is important.
Well, the MBTI is actually not about socializing. It’s about cognition. It doesn’t matter if you get pumped up around people or not. It matters if your thoughts, ideas, feelings and inspirations come from yourself (introvertion) or from outside (extroversion). Actually, you should look up the MBTI cognitive functions as they are the true base of the MBTI. This video is a bit inaccurate, try doing your own research
Insightful information on these MBTI types! I stumbled upon your channel through the RU-vid algorithm today. My MBTI channel does the same. Thanks for sharing! 🌟🌟🌟
I'm an intp/j and the weird thing is I usually get around 40-49 on my scores, so I don't really seem to fit into categories when people try to read me haha.
It's funny, because the personality types that tend to be interested in their personality type are the ones looking this up. The other types don't care. lol. I'm an INTP too.
ok! I suck as a human being. I dont feed in any category. im introvert but outgoing, im intuitive but sometimes im the opposite. sometimes I judge sometimes im perceiving. .ONLY I CAN FAIL AT BEING A HUMAN.GOOD JOB ME!!!! :(
no, you don't suck! you re an ambivert (introvert and extrovert in the same way). also, a human needs to balance those, and you are very ok! think that you probs special :D
is it possible to change? especially in the teenage years? i m 14. some months ago i was an intp. now 3 tests show me that i m an infp (more connected with morality, empathy, emotions etc). I think both describe me very good.... but how can i find my real type? :)
