Friend watching the video: This is a mix of Fire Emblem, Yu Gi Oh, and Mario Party Me: Yes Friend: So the only thing that's missing is roman cancel Me: it has roman cancel
@PeruvianPotato this most certainly is a tactics game. As far as fighting games go, ive never seen anything that has nearly as many layers in its strategy. With comstant rps situations built on the system mechanics as opposed to character kits, deck building, and weather manipulation, you're always being forced to make plans dynamically and no situation is ever exactly the same. Like, in Guilty gear for example, if you play Millia rage, your gameplan is almost always yo get a knockdown, throw disc, and run your 4 way mix as often as possible. Your only goal is "how do I get that knockdown?" But in Soku, because defense is so strong and because theres so many layers to building your offense, yohr goal is always changing and that really forces you to strategize in ways other fighting games dont
This game is very fun, the gameplay is pretty cool. Also I remember that tasofro (creators of the game) wanted to make a competitive touhou game again and want to see it in the evo, maybe years later we will see the result.
Very helpful, guys. I played 12.3 for years and didn't even know that you can change the weather countdown cycle because I wasn't in the community. Thanks a lot!
@@PatchyE one of my favorite strat is unleashing 4,5 cost spell cards when typhoon is on so I'll keep the tip in mind. It's mostly just for fun though lol.
Mastering Sanae in Soku is what got me passionate towards fighting games in the first place. Do try to play with her BB Rachel-style wind to learn super fast movement and projectile manipulation.
Damn, I still remember playing this back in 2009 when it just got released. Never In my life would have expected to watch an actual technical review more than 10 years later. Do people still use hamachi for online play?
I always knew this game had a mysterious air of depth to it, but I wasn't into the game enough to find out. Glad I get to know what the game is all about.
Id recommend playing the Soku2 mod for playing as additional characters (though you have to set which characters you want to load during startup as the mod cant add character slots)
@@novriltataki Not rollback specifically. But there have been patches that greatly improve the online experience, reducing ping and such. Many people are still working on future patches for the game. Let's hope they'll be able to add rollback.
Im a very late bloomer when it comes to discovering this game, but have been enjoying it none the less. Also I notice the game on the video was mainly in English, and here I've been stuggling moving around the menus and so I havent even bothered with the card systems yet. Anyone know where I can get the 12.3e file?
Been playing for about 30 minutes, but in story mode the ai keeps just getting back up and refilling the spellbreak meter. I took Marisa's hp to zero about four times in a row but she just kept getting up even if I break her spell, and eventually I lost all my lives. What mechanic is this and if I fight real people will I just never be able to make them stay down? I'm having fun with the game immortality aside so I'd like to keep going but unwinnable fights aren't appealing.
Bosses in Hisoutensoku work differently from real players. Bosses will continue to get up as long as they have spellcards left to throw at you. Basically Story Mode is actually Touhou, where you dodge bullets and shoot down the boss and break their spell. In a match against a real player, however, you just need to drain your opponent's hp gauge till you or your opponent drops.
i havent watched the video but i have a few questions, how do i make the game fullscreen how do i use the spells (for example sakuyas world) can i change my character in story mode if so how? can i even change my character? thanks if you answered
Fullscreen is in config, spell cards were talked on the video, you can't change characters during a story campaign (theres only like 5 campaigns so it's not that impactful, you're not missing much) And yes you can change characters after each game against a player or if you go back to the character select.
Thrown edge, no idea haven't really used that much perfect maid, I personally use it as a "screw you back off, don't touch my no no spot" but it gets harder when people use buttes to hit you at close range
There's a link to the wiki in the description that contains international/regional discords that you can join. From here we have downloads for the game. Discords: hisouten.koumakan.jp/wiki/Discord_Servers_List Game download from one of our resources channels: www.mediafire.com/file/v01kv3pr0jjfqlb/HISOUTENSOKU_-_COMPLETE_SETUP.rar/file
There are various way to get it, I'll recommend you to join a soku comunity discord server(hisouten or th123 mostly), where you'll find a link to download the game (with modules made by the comunity included). I haven't checked yet if he gave a link to get access to one of these servers. Other ways are to import the game from japan(it's not recommended) or download it on a touhou community website (not recommended either because you may not find the latest version)
@@nayd5043 I wish they would release another patch to re-balance some of the cards to be competitively viable. Some of them are almost useless compared to other choices.
is a bit strange to said , although i'm a dy hard touhou fans , and i played a lot fighting game , i'm still don't like 12.3 , the pressure feel strange , the okizeme for some character is easy to escape , the balance is bad , i'm really really don't like this game. i mean why is so easy to roll out of coner , why the hell high low mixup is so easy to escape, and cause you need use bullet to cancel to everything why the pressure is so hard to do ,everything in this game just feel strange to me , is a truely special experience to said its a fighting game , also finding people online is still annoyed in 2020 , if i have to describe 12.3 is more like bullet melee action games with no online room not a traditional fighting game. Anyway why this game have rollback? In Asia we still played as garbage delay base , and it runs bad.
If you already don’t like it, you probably won’t in the future. That said, the pressure is a lot about canceling attacks and using bullets, highs and lows are to either give you frame advantage so you can reset, or cause your bullets to be tight. Besides high/lows, the main thing to mix up is when you use your bullets, so your opponent doesn’t predict them and you get to reset pressure. Oki is more difficult because of rolling away, but strong players of any character can still do it.
@@qedsoku849 is sad to said you're right , i probably still don't like the game in future, i known top played can do everything , but for me it hit my blind spot , anyway thanks to tell me lots of thing
Regairding the netcode - it's true that the game itself uses a delay-based one, but, much like Melty Blood, there's also a fan-made caster ("Sokuroll") which is what everyone uses.
