In Cambodia, the population is still very dependant on fuel wood and charcoal for their energy needs. 80% of the energy supply of the country still comes from biomass fuel. With the growing population, the needs are increasing and the forests are today threatened. The Sustainable Charcoal Project led by GERES is a solution to reach a sustainable balance between the forest ressources and the needs of the population in charcoal by introducing an efficient product and raising the awarness of the communities.
