Thanks. Yeah it was really hard seeing him get so bad. He was such a sweet boy and touched so many lives all those years as a therapy dog. I feel like he's guiding the new pup. Can't wait to be able to do all the hiking and exploring with Nemo like I did for years and years with Cappy.
@@ferretocious This is worst part of having any pet - seeing them getting older and older. But 11 years old isn't bad age for Newfie, so at least Cappy had long, good life.
@@AzzureSky I was SOOO happy I was able to find a mobile vet. It was so hard but so peaceful and nice compared to being in a vet's office. The vet sent me this nice card and some sweet pea seeds which are now starting to grow up the windmill out front. I had here come by last week to give Nemo's initial vet check. Felt I owed her a happier reason to be here and she loved meeting him.
I got a Landseer last year. I took Ichinojo home when he was 10 weeks old. He's now 13 months old and 155 lbs of love (that's why I named him after a sumo wrestler)! The Newfoundland is a fantastic breed - they've got a sweet disposition, their energy level isn't off the charts, they're great around people (especially kids) and they're intelligent and easy to train.
My last dog was a Newfie as well so yes - completely LOVE the breed! He passed away this past May. Nemo is now 4 months old and already 58.6 pounds! His dad is 190. I hope he stops at around 170!
Ha ha! Look at the recent videos so you can see how GIGANTIC he is now! I haven't weighed him this week. He's probably at least 120!!!!! He's 8 months old!!!!
@@ferretocious At one point growing up, we had 3 newfs and an Old English Sheep Dog.We had a sled with harnesses for the winter, and a buggy for the summer. Swimming at Grandpas lake resort was impossible, as of course, they would "rescue" us kids from the lake. We tried tying them up, but they just went nuts not being able to get to us, and convinced we were going to drown without their intervention.We had to put them inside to calm them down. I remember Mom had a grooming table, and every week or so, she would go to town with a brush.She saved all the fur, got a spinning wheel, and spun it into yarn. She then knitted us sweaters.I wish I still had it today.Good times, GREAT puppers!
