------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the realm of mushroom cultivation, containment strategies encompass an array
of tubs, jars, and customizable alterations aimed at elevating both potency and
harvest yield. A recommended entry point for novices is the utilization of simple
shoe boxes, conveniently available at Walmart. These serve as an excellent starting
point while one acquaints themselves with optimal conditions and yield ratios specific
to various mushroom species.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For smaller tubs, the employment of a liner is advisable to discourage side pinning.
Similar practices can be applied to larger tubs, as the principles of creating a mono
tub are adaptable to various sizes. While modifications like cutting holes in the sides
and filling them with plugs or poly fill are possible, it is worth noting that such alterations
can introduce contamination risks. Opting for unmodified tubs maintains a higher humidity
level, a protective factor during the initial stages of mycelial development despite some
moisture loss.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The process of spawning your mushrooms into the substrate begins with the addition
of a sterilized liner, accompanied by a thorough sterilization of the tub using 91%
isopropyl alcohol. Once the liner is in place (a black trash bag suffices), the spawn
jar should be shaken until the mycelium is evenly distributed and then emptied
onto the bottom of the tub, atop the liner. This is followed by the addition of
substrate in a 1:1 ratio to the spawn (e.g., if one pound of spawn is used, one
pound of substrate is added). Though this can be approximated visually,
the mixture should be meticulously combined while wearing gloves
and compacted to provide a conducive environment for mycelial growth.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Upon completion, apply a casing layer atop the substrate, ensuring even distribution
and compacting it gently to fully cover the spawn. Subsequently, mist the surface
with your mister around 10 times before sealing and dating the box for a 10-day
period. At the conclusion of this period, the substrate should be entirely colonized
by mycelium, signaling readiness for fruiting.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To initiate fruiting, open the lid of the shoe box and mist the mycelium directly until
numerous small droplets form on the surface. These droplets will eventually evaporate
and foster the emergence of pins, which will later develop into mature mushrooms.
Maintain the box closed until visible signs of fruiting occur, at which point the lid's
top should be sterilized before it's opened, and flipped promoting further fresh air
exchange. During this phase, misting the sides of the tub when necessary enhances
fresh air exchange, thereby promoting further growth.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's important to strike a balanced approach to fresh air exchange, as excessive or
insufficient airflow can lead to issues like fuzzy feet or hindered growth. By maintaining
a judicious equilibrium, cultivators can optimize conditions for successful mushroom
development.

I appreciate it! I'm still a bit newer to the content creation world. But I wanted to kind of create a step by step solution/explanation for how you can grow mushies. I would use coir though, I found this out later on in the process, The peat moss is kind of acidic, and might need a stabilizer to balance the ph.

Do you just mist once to stimulate pinning or do you mist everyday until the pins start to form?

Any reason not to go directly to dub tub versus flipping lid?
@Anomycology
@Anomycology 3 месяца назад
Absolutely none! I just used mine for the example! That's a good question though. I just like the smaller evaporation environment while pinning, before going to the dub tub mid fruit. But it also depends on genetics. When I started, and in these videos, this was before I was doing personal isolations. So my fruits were a bit smaller, but once I started doing cupids gates, I did get to a point where I needed a dub tub. it started pushing the top of the tub up lol.

Honestly it's just preference, I tried both methods and ended up just putting open faced shoeboxes into a big tub with a lid on it. Whatever works for you

Should the water when misting me distilled or is tap all good
@Anomycology
@Anomycology 16 дней назад
I always just use tap water, you can use distilled water, but remember, you can never get your level of contamination down to absolute zero. Instead you can simply mitigate risks. So keeping that in mind, generally, when its time to fruit, your mycelium is fully developed,. and has a pretty strong immune system, enough so to fight off nay contamination, after all, when you open it to fruit it, there's tons of airborne contam, but to always fights it off.

If your grain spawn was colonized properly it should be strong enough to fight off contamination the Yellow stuff is called myco piss (slang but I don't know the proper name) but it should be fine

Everyone say use 70% isopropyl. Is there a reason you use 91% instead?
@Anomycology

You honestly don't have to use 91%! I just like that it evaporates faster, And the store near me has a really good deal on it. But either will work. As long as you have a semi sterile area to work in you should be more than fine :)

I thought that fully colonized substrate is alllmost in vulnerable to contamination after it's already been colonized An faning is not needed it's old information
@Anomycology
@Anomycology 6 месяцев назад
This observation is indeed astute and holds significant validity. The determination of whether to utilize a fan hinges upon factors such as the species in question, environmental conditions, and the unique genetic makeup of isolated mutations. Specifically, the yeti species consistently necessitates heightened airflow. In my video documentation, I employ unmodified tubs strategically to circumvent contamination, thereby facilitating optimal water management. Consequently, the decision to employ a fan is contingent upon the specific context and the genetic characteristics of the species under consideration. I have encountered various manifestations of yeti species originating from spores that underwent disparate levels of condensation. Moreover, even fully colonized tubs, despite their apparent robustness, remain susceptible to contamination. The instances of fully colonized tubs succumbing to moisture-related issues underscore the necessity of incorporating a fan as a precautionary measure. In light of these considerations, an adherence to the principle of prudence is paramount - better to err on the side of caution than to risk unforeseen complications.

I appreciate observing the mycelium development along the sides. While these videos are not optimal for cultivation, they provide beginners with a clear conceptual understanding of the process. I have noticed a lack of step-by-step videos on other channels detailing the entire process, so I believe that many individuals can learn effectively in this manner and then apply knowledge gained from other growers and content creators.
