Boat certainly looks the part. The take away for me though is just how much Travis has matured and grown as a sailor! When they first launched he was all about trying to kill himself with daredevil activities and risk taking and limited knowledge of what sailing entailed. Now he converses with much confidence on the various aspects of boat specs and sailing processes, suitably impressed!!! No doubt Steph has had a calming influence and they certainly have developed into the 'dream team'. Looking forward to seeing where the next chapter of your lives on the water takes all of us. Enjoyed.

Totally concur with NOT cutting the table down. It is a great planning station, work station, eating, living, hosting, sewing, area. You can do everything from making bread to rebuilding a watermaker on that table. Very nice boat and I agree with shortening the boom.

You guys just nailed it! I sailed the Antarctic and no matter how great a sailor your are, plastic boats just don't cut it. Aluminum hull, cutter rig, well insulated is the name of the game. Looking forward to following your future adventures.

I would hold off on cutting down the table immediately. If you live with it a month or two you may be more comfortable with the size, and a nice large work-surface is very nice to have. It clearly worked for the previous owner. You can always chop it down later if it's intolerable. As for the engine start, that is baffling. My quick fix would be to connect a remote start. The boat looks wonderful though, congrats.

Congratulations on the new boat. Here's my takeaway as an armchair sailor. You now have a true world class sailing vessel that leaves you pretty unrestricted in the places you can go. You also are no longer beholden to using the Panama or Suez canals to navigate around continents. And can easily venture to locales that other "world" cruisers are unable to go due to temperature extremes. I'm looking forward to following along with your adventure and wish you the best of luck. Hopefully one day we will see Travis dancing with penguins.

Congratulations guys! We met one sailor with a lot of cold weather sailing experience this summer during our holiday, he claimed that at least while on the way in cold climate they would not turn on heaters and just use special clothing/blankets to keep themselves warm, but the boat cold as that was the only way to avoid insane condensation even with insulation. I hope that your extra thick insulation will work better! Looking forwards to learning more about that

Now that's a boat. She will look pretty wearing the Canadian flag. If cutting the salon table, try making it a flip down or up leaf, this way you can always have a larg table, excellent to sew on, if you have to repair sails etc. especially if you are planing on being remote.

We had a custom trawler with drawers twice as deep. And twice as wide. Near the floor. Literally not exaggerating. My advice is to put things at the back you won't need to use very often....if ever. It's basically long-term storage. But you'll love it. Boat is beautiful! Enjoy!!! Cheers from 🇨🇦

The vents on the deck look like 'Dorade boxes' even though I couldn't see holes at the bottom of the box for water to flow out. 'Dorade boxes' can stay 'open' until the sea is so rough that waves wash over to bow. If the box is 'flooded', water will ingress the boat. Usually Dorade boxes work in pairs with one placed windward and one leeward. The cowl 'closer to the wind' facing to windward and the cowl 'farther from the wind' facing to leeward. The 'leeward' cowl sucks air out of the boat which allows the 'windward' one to suck in air, establishing a circulation inside the boat.

Those deep cabinets you can't reach into, install a sliding shelf that will pull out so you can easily reach even the things at the very back. Congratulations on the new boat, the interior looks gorgeous (I love wood).

Perfect upgrade. I owned a Hunter 430 and loved it but I would never have taken her as far as you have taken Jibsea. Now you can go anywhere and handle any circumstances. Congratulations

I suggest you remove the existing table top and store it under the mattress on the guest bed. Make a new top the size you think you want wait until you get a sail cloth capable sewing machine that all long term remote cruisers eventually realize they need , it looks to me that table is perfectly designed with no fiddles to make large new work and repair possible. Nice boat for adventuring ! Congratulations,

We’ve got a Sailrite and love it. You’re absolutely right, every cruiser eventually realizes the need for it! Good idea we’d have to measure it, eye balling it, not sure it may fit but a large table top is a dream for the machine we have used without one 😅

Best of luck kids...looks like a great boat. Adjustment time is needed to get used to it for sure...adjust the boom placement I would not shorten it...try it first before playing with its length. look forward to your new adventures

Dont shorten the boom, get a boom vang instead. When you look it up you are going to see things about shaping the main, but it also allows you to prevent the boom from swinging over quickly or uncontrollably during jibes... or sudden wind shift. Pretty essential piece of equipment on that boat regardless of that boom overhang.

The overhang of the boom is more of a concern for us trying to fully enclose the cockpit rather than swinging over for accidental jibes. Right now we wouldn’t be able to enclose from the dodger to the Bimini with the boom going that far aft

Congrats. Cool boat!Take time to figure out if you really want to permanently remove things. If you don’t live with them for a bit you may regret the change. For example the wind turbine mast could have served another purpose as an antenna mast for example. The boat functioned as is for a long time. Don’t rush to change a lot in the beginning. Good luck!

@@SailingJibsea. Hi Steph. That depends on where we get the handover. If in Europe, we will start there and explore as we become familiar with a mid-60s power catamaran and all the systems and do upgrades if cost-effective. Cross the Atlantic somewhere and work our way south to go to the South Pacific. This is going to be an 8-10 year mission voyage. 🙂 Time will tell.
