Working with gun-shy labrador retrievers to build confidence and overcome this common problem. We use a slow approach at Kugae Gundogs, beginning with a starting pistol - sometimes as far as 100 yards away - and slowly move forward, shortening the distance and continuously watching the dogs to watch for any nervous reaction. We constantly observe the dogs and encourage them to be comfortable in these surroundings. This procedure can take many weeks or months to overcome, however with our training methods we can overcome this issue in most cases.
