This sounds like the yogi Sadhguru's Inner Engineering book. The spiritual journey of the self. Letting go of all your identities you take. Be in union with all creations. This art came from the region now call South India. It made it ways to East and South East Asia regions thousands of years. ago.

Very encouraging as my (zhan zhuang and tai chi) practice accords with his ideas. I am interested in health and fitness, not at all in fighting. My experience: Relaxation and focus on form and balance are essential. Progress happens when faults somehow disappear. But faults are like Russian dolls.

I went through a similar experience in 2014. I achieved internal softness and internal iron that year (separate, but linked skills). All of it was simply paying attention to sensations I was already having within me. Realizing that small feelings were making big effects. Truly following the advice of "relax." We all think, "Yeah, relax, but only at a certain moment." No, wrong. It really means relax the entire time. Then you will find deeper ways to relax as you go from outside to inside.

Thought provoking interview. It reminds me of Chapter 11 of Tao Te Ching, paraphrasing: make use of what is there by making use of what is not. Thirty spokes are joined in the wheel's hub. The hole in the middle makes it useful. Mold clay into a bowl. The empty space makes it useful. Cut out doors and windows for the house. The holes make it useful. Therefore, the value comes from what is there, But the use comes from what is not there.

Many thanks Master Huau Hsiang Wang and the Interviewer for shedding light on the internal aspect of Kung Fu. The term Prana is invoking Yoga Energy , which I have learned to direct, if not to control, by breathing. So stoúp thinking, feel energy and find some coincidence with breathing, once this conection found, try until taking control of the Prana through breathing. Have I understood it properly? Great video .....a lot of these old styles and way of movement get such a bad name due to people claiming they have it without putting the real time, conditioning and understanding into it. For this reason it is a dying art. A great way to practice what he is talking about is to preform the Tai Chi movement called ....looking into the mirror...where as you move you look into the palm of your hand as it comes across your guard.You stare at your palm and take in the reality while feeling your energy thus becoming self aware and one with your chi energy creation.

Very interesting interview, in which Master Wang makes a great deal of sense even if you don't have his wealth of experience using a martial arts practice to achieve what we can loosely call a higher level of consciousness or awareness along with internal power. What makes him more credible and worth our attention, however, is that you can see the effects of his internal power on people he interacts with in workshop settings. There's one term he uses, and the interviewer repeats, that I don't understand clearly. Is he saying about the ego mind that it is "on flame" and needs to be "de-flamed" or what is the word he's using there? If that's what he's saying, it's not a terminology or metaphor that I've heard before and it doesn't quite compute for me.

I played this several times & I hear what he says. It's a good explanation of the mystery of internal arts, however the reliance in the demonstrations (I also looked up other video demos) on compliant partners is not very assuring. Many of the taichi style/based demonstrations show the same sort of compliance. Can this be explained further? I'm not trying to be negative, just curious.

Thank you and really appreciate for Mr Wang for giving really great and clear explanation. Only people which near/achieve this point of growing will understand and can feel the explanation. I have several question : 1. Does the fascia path mean meridian in acupuncture point of view? 2. With release all the tension , does it mean to flow your surrender mind & intention thorough all the body ? 3. What and how is the relation between upper , middle and lower dan tien in this practice? 4. Any special breathing exercise to enhance this understanding? Or only surrender and feel all your body and deflate our mind?

@@THEMARTIALMAN Please kindly share his answer to us. I really need to know his answer especially related to the Dan Tien.
@torstenbeck640
@torstenbeck640 3 года назад
1: no, the fascia are 3 layers of tissue inside the body like a suit from the inside. The layers growing chaotic, were its needed stronger ( higher density of fascia ). For activation needs relaxed mucle and pressure from the outside. 2: release the tension, means mind and body, no disturbance. 3: the three different dantien you mentioned. Is basicly needed to find the source from the energy from your enemy. And learn to deal with pressure at your 3 points. Bcs its different if he comes from a high angle and do the pressure to you lower dantien. Or comes from a low angle and do the pressure to your throat( high dantien ). 4: there are breathing exercises ! To much to type it on YT. You need a teacher for this. Roll your stomac with breathing or roll you cheast with breathing. Cyrcle foreward cyrcle backward. And as usual relax first. Hope that helps a bid.
@frbud
@frbud 3 года назад
@@torstenbeck640 Thanks for explanation, 1. I have search in wikipedia and found fascia means. Its more suitable using term "Deep Fascia" . A layer of dense connective tissue surround individual muscles. And inside the fascia there are artery,vine and nerve. Thats explain why we need to relax the muscle so that we can feel the fascia. But again what is the connection with meridian? It should have connection. 3. Regarding the dan tien, i prefer waiting answer from Mr Wang. 4. Regarding breathing exercise, also waiting mr Wang answer. As i know the flow should forward cycle, this is the most nature.
@torstenbeck640
@torstenbeck640 3 года назад
@@frbud you like to know more about the meridian. If i see that right you like to establish a connection between meridian ( energy travel pathway ( in your mind )) and the fascia. But you have to realize that the meridians are there to support, bevore the action takes place. So it s just to relax the muscle and learn under right angeled pressure to make use of the fascia. The meridians have done their work bevore. The fascia have the abillity to store kinetic energy like memory and release it with a breath and a thought come together. Direction & Intensity meet at one point in a single breath. You have written that you relax the muscle to "feel" the fascia. You may wonder about it but there is no actual feeling for the fascia inside your body. The muscle create a feeling of tension up/down, but the fascia "state" you reach by feeling no tension, you just realize stabillity by feeling no tension ( no force ). Realising the stored force is just possible by using it. This knowledge/ wisdom is at least 3000 years old, and it s getting better from generation to generation, even if we live 100, years how can we think we find it on ouer own. You will need a teacher for that !

Some questions: Does one need a partner for these classes? How much of these classes are devoted to learning to feel energy ? ( which I can do now). If one misses a class I assume you can still download that class to be watched later? Can what you teach be used for healing self or others ? When you are doing the relaxation part are you basically doing what is called sinking the qi? Please pass these questions on to Master Howard. Thank you.

It is not a requirement to have a training partner present for the live sessions; however, if you can organize for a training partner to be on hand to practice with in between the classes, it will be a huge advantage. The video sessions will be available to download and watch offline after each session, so you can then go through the material with your training partner and practice accordingly. I will discuss the other points you mentioned with Howard in a future video.

Alhamdulila! So to harness Prana, one has to harmonize internally and feel the energy to animate it. Does that mean that in order to increase/strengthen prana, one has to simply feel it better, or can one do exercises to build it more? Is it not about having a clean and pure energy, so quality prana, rather than just more volume or quantity of prana? In Islam we have eman, or belief or soul, which lives inside our bodies, and it is a function of your purity of intention as well as the number of good actions and habits. So basically you have to have pure intentions then you can build up that with actioning more and more good deeds or prayers.

@@johnboyjordan1915 you mean, in your opinion. I don’t think what he’s teaching is for fighting, it is for a different reason altogether. So it’s certainly worth learning if one is thus inclined. But like he said in his interview, most of his students are 40 and above. They’ve most likely gotten beyond the juvenile level of interest in violence and are seeking something deeper and more profound. It takes a certain amount of life experience to transcend fear-based violence (which is what drives most people to the martial arts) and start exploring the more spiritual and esoteric aspects that are hidden in plain sight in the internal arts. Not saying those below 40 can’t be interested in it, or are incapable of understanding it, but usually that’s not the case. Similarly there are many 40+ people with arrested mental ages (stuck in teenage or young adult mental drama) - so this stuff isn’t appropriate for them either. Like with most things in life, whether it is fraudulent or not, is a matter of context.

What I am gathering is that it is all Mind, as many of these teachers are saying. I couldn't put down my 4th degree sensei in the air, after 30 seconds*, until I "asked" my mind to put him down. Before this while he was suspended in air. I tried to drop my tailbone, ect. It didn't work. I got worried he wouldn't come down. That's why I used my mind. And he slowly came down. . . . . . . . So I know from training Nei Kung after leaving the school. And for 7 months I reached the "shen?" state with them? I still had to open my spine from the mingmen and open the bow 🏹 . But it was more deeper than bio mechanics. But bio mechanics work and are the grounding. - - - I believe this stuff can go into hypnotherapy, and levitation. Because it's happening to in publicly on the mat, in group fights And on an upstream, internal sense. You can hurt them. So folks who say Aiki is love? I don't know. I was able to kick and use my knuckle or grip with a "no touch" and cause so much pain. It was leaving marks on them. So please be careful yall 🙏

I have a great interest in all martial arts and I really think those masters have precious knowledge. However I think there is a cognitive dissonance that comes from the fact those arts are a refinement of fighting traditions. They are not meant to fight anymore but to transcend human beings. But all the founders of those internal arts have known and experienced pain, violence and brutality before they went to softer arts. But their student's students might not have this experience so they are cut from the root and they often try to retroingeneer the methods into fighting, which in my opinion is the wrong way round, and often leads to misunderstanding, delusional behavior and arrogance. Without fighting experience they can't understand where they come from. To have a balanced perspective, I think, would be to train in combat sport and make some real fighting experience, know pain and struggle for real and eventually move on to softer arts. Internal and external are two sides of the same coin. Like Yin and Yang, One can't exist without the other. Violence, competition, adversity are the roots, the base. Without this base, it's my personal belief, no-one can really grow as a martial artist.

Hi Darren Plumb- Would you please say a few words about the ACTUAL training methods Howard uses in his trainings? Thanks
@redlotustaichiandqigong9166
@redlotustaichiandqigong9166 3 года назад
clearly anyone who has trained as Howard has done ie lifetime dedication to his art which was mantis, then let's all of it go and releases the traditional way and viewpoint of most martial arts is something special, I will say that the crown suspended and body released like in all standing practice plays a major role in preparing the body to activate the fascia the web surrounding the muscles. So the body needs to be elastic not tight/locked up or floppy/collapsed. The fascia is really important it helps the muscles to relax and hang... That is the gateway to the internal. Howard takes this principle and helps his students to empower them to find this ability in themselves. Making it a more spiritual experience/teaching. Which is what happens as you get deeper into the practice this happens to a lot of the teachers over time they get more spiritual and no longer need/want to fight...
@rw4669
@rw4669 3 года назад
@@redlotustaichiandqigong9166 yes, the deep relaxing is a standard amongst internal martial arts. I remember somewhere he mentioned that in his limbs he "wrings them out like a wet dish rag" and then what comes out he uses/projects. It reminds me of condensing breathing from Tai Chi. In the syllabus thats linked here for his training program, theres no mention of any actual methods. So, what Id like to hear from a student of his like you, is what are some of the actual practices, beyond the very basics of TaiJi, etc, that hes actually teaching in his program. Can u share?
@redlotustaichiandqigong9166
@redlotustaichiandqigong9166 3 года назад
I myself have and do teach taiji chen style and qi gong for over 20 years, my forms were ok but I was missing how to activate the internal which simply is not taught by any uk teachers or even my teacher in China, Howard gave me the missing piece to that puzzle in Prana dynamics. I know that does not answer your question and I apologise for that. But I made more progress in my training in the 8 months doing his program than I did with master Wang hai jun who learned from grandmaster chen zhenglei a chen family lineage holder! I rate Howard I respect him for what he is trying to teach people. There are many fakes out there but Howard is not one of them. One of the training methods is to not be inside your body but project outside of your skin, make of that what you will. People have been trapped inside themselves for eons, it's a fresh view to not be trapped by your mind and to learn how to feel instead of always inside of oneself. The other is validation of the practice, to not take his word for it but practice with a partner so the techniques can be understood and refined... for Howard what you see him do is effortless because of the years of refining the method. Anyone can do what he does it just takes time and patience... peace

@@redlotustaichiandqigong9166 Well thats great to know. He mentions "inflation" and "deflation" techniques, and putting the mind even 1 mm outside your own body, past the contact point and into the training partners fascial and energy system, and then pulling along the puppet lines in the limbs. Id like to kno a bit more about how he trains that. Can you tell me?
@redlotustaichiandqigong9166
@redlotustaichiandqigong9166 3 года назад
He trains by way of feeling and intention. Place your hands on someone and try to feel their tension everyone has it but how easy is it to feel? So someone feeds you a bit of resistance can you focus solely on them if they touch you or are you feeling/drawn to where they touch you. Most cases people fixate on the area being held right its human nature or the fight or flight mechanism built in to us all. If you reply to the force with force then you are fighting but if you don't do that and open inside your body and bypass the contact point you can move your partner with ease. Thing is it's not easy which is why you need to train the method until you are like Howard and can move your mind and action past the other person and into the space outside of yourself. This helps you to not fight but causes your body energy to flow freely to control the other person.. it works but it is very subtle you cannot use your muscle tension but need to feel your partners tension like a line from his body to yours...
