I bought an 06 ranger in Colorado brand new. They don't use salt out there. I retired to North Carolina about 5 years ago. Its got about 160,000 miles. I'll keep it till it dies. Change your fluids! It should last another 10 years. 6 cylinder, 5 speed manual. I don't know how many people have come up to me over the years and ask me if I wanted to sell if.
Hey Man, I just got myself a 2006 Ford ranger as well. Not the 4x4 but definitely XLT. All white truck. I want to lift it a few inches and add spacers with bigger meaty tires. And will definitely replace the headlights for some LED ones. Same as the taillights.
I just got a 2010 Ford Ranger XLT after my 96 Accord got stolen. It's the 2.3 version with manual. For some reason these 4cyl 5sp Rangers are hard to come by where I'm at so once I found one, I jumped in and bought it. Can't wait to see the future projects you'll be doing with your truck :)
Congrats on the new truck, but also that's too bad about the Accord :( I think the 4 cyl 5 sp are hard to find anywhere. I have yet to see one one in person, and I see rangers all the time. I did however see a 4.0 manual at the junkyard once. If I had the money and time I would have bought the trans lol Anyway, yes stay tuned! I'm hoping to take it from a used, dirty, not so cared for work truck, to a comfortable, clean, practical, and fun work truck haha.
@@AutoFixYT Yeah those Rangers are really hard to come by. I don't know if it's because they're weak and no one wants them so there's so little of them on the road or everyone wants them so they're hard to come by lol Can't wait to see the transformation of your truck!
That truck looks mean with the larger tires. The 4.0 engine should be pretty dependable. The ebrake cables should be easy if you remove the brake drum so the shoes can expand. That way you can pull the cable to connect easier. Im gonna go watch the dash light vid. Im imagining those dash lights were much dimmer. Keep the videos coming man. You're doing a great job
Thanks! Oversized tires look good for sure. Next time I might go slightly bigger lol but I like these for now. As for the engine, I have heard and read that the 4.0 is the one to have, many people often get several hundred thousand miles out of them and even though they are horrible on gas, they won't let you down. And thanks for the tip about installing ebrake cables. That will definitely help! So for the dash lights... I didn't actually make a video. Although I probably should have... but I didn't. But they were indeed much dimmer. Actually half of the bulbs were burnt out. So I could barely see anything at night. Anywhere below 60-70 I had to guess my speed or turn on the dome light to shine on the dash lol
@@K9Clyde Unfortunately I dont have an LSD, I wish I did though! So technically only the FX4 has LSD. If you don't have an FX4 but the tag says it's LSD, either someone swapped the diff or the wrong tag was put on my someone at some point. However, if you DO have an LSD for sure, but it never locks up, thats most likely because the clutch packs are worn out and they need to be replaced. They wear out from excessive use (LSD is not as strong as a locker so abusing it will ruin the clutches) or the fluid was never changed and therefore all the debris from the clutches wearing over time caused them to wear even more. So the only way to fix it if it really is LSD is to replace the clutch packs. But like I said unless it has been swapped or it's an FX4, it did not come with LSD from the factory.
Shackles are good! The truck has some extra rusty areas but structurally it's sound and not rotted. And for the climate it lives in it's to be expected.
Me too, I know people talk trash about them but they're a mighty little truck and in my experience, they don't give up on you if you don't give up on them.
