This skins doesn't even make sense. Minecraft ins't supose to have a theme of medieval or early age? This skins have modern clothings complete out of place, seens like the people how made this has no idea what they are doing.

Steve isn't anybody. He's a base slate for you. This update just lets you have a default skin that may represent you better. And he's not gone

Yeah this is 100% aimed at new players - but I think it's gonna say a lot to a whole lot of people picking up the game for the first time, that "default" includes a whole colourful range of looks!

If you’re on Bedrock edition there’s a ton of free skins you can get as well

People are giving the same reaction as they did years ago when Alex was introduced. Everyone hated Alex for being a replacement and now here we are. She is an integral part of Minecraft's brand and I feel like the same can be done with the new skins if Mojang uses them correctly.

@@alexv1154 They're separate enough from Mario and Luigi. Wario was a playable character in Super Mario 64 DS, but in most other situations, he's more of a rival to Mario. Same goes for Waluigi. These new skins are supposed to be put alongside Steve and Alex in a way Wario and Waluigi aren't.

Ehh, give it time. I remember everyone was acting like this over Alex, and now she's arguably a bigger mascot than Steve (in terms of promotion that is).

Do you have a goldfish memory? The same reaction was given when Alex was introduced.

Yup they will eventually grow on us, Steve and Alex needed company anyway. (Though I still think that it'll take longer to acclimate to them than it did for Alex since we're getting 7 new skins instead of 1 which was easier to process.)

There’s a mod called zombie friends that does just that.

You can make your own skins. That is the change Mojang should have added a skin edit tool.

Diversity but their names are the most forgettable things ever. Off the top of my head I can think of Sunny - but they’re all the same and it would be better if they looked more personified.

Same here. My first video game experience was loading into the world of Minecraft as Steve on the Xbox 360. I've got my own custom skin but Steve is the true legend.

Why a resource pack?

Thing is, people got over Alex as it was actually more unique, one of the reasons it was even made in the first place was probably the new body type. These new skins don't have much like Alex did.

@@lobodasneves5374 You're right that Alex was only initially created for the new slimhands type, but saying that Alex is better because they had a mechanical reason to exist is kinda ridiculous. Also because like, is that logic somehow better than Minecraft just wanting to have more diverse default skins??? It's better customization for the incredibly casual young players who stick with console or don't know how to download skins. A lot of young gamers are just subtly racist like that at the end of the day, whether they're aware of it or not. People online rage about diversity so much they get a kneejerk reaction seeing colored people being introduced in a thing they like. I do think the new skins will eventually be accepted, but if they aren't, it's not hard to see why a certain demographic happens to be a little biased.

I've known Minecraft for like, a decade now. And believe me, in all my 10 or so years of playing, I've actually never seen a single person complaining that steve "isn't diverse enough". Nobody cared, as people just made their own skins. The issue with these new skins is that Mojang says they want to "encourage storytelling and creativity" and that "diversity helps that", so if that's the reason, why didn't they just make it easier for Java players to actually *create their own skins* ? I don't know about you, but to me, a bunch of people running around with expressionless new skins (which, by the way, don't feel "default" at all for Minecraft) is way less creative than people actually making their own skins. Even if someone downloads a creeper-hoodie-skin thingy which is available for free on the internet, it's still more unique than just a bunch of skins that feel like they belong more in a skin pack than in a "default" environment. If Mojang really wanted to "improve storytelling", they would be taking their time to bring more and cooler features into the game, not by making a bunch of skins half of the community dislikes anyway. And, excuse me, are you calling me "racist" for criticising a bunch of saltless Minecraft skins?... What's wrong with you?...
