I love what Pre Sonus is doing! I was a frustrated Pro Tools user for years. I'll admit there was a learning curve but after learning the software I find it so much more user friendly. Keep up the great work!

The import/export features between Notion 6 and Studio One 4 seem really strong. I'm not a composer, so that's more of a layman's opinion, but I can see the potential for arrangers between these 2 products. All in all, PreSonus is doing a great job of producing top notch products at prices for everyone, not just professional studios, etc. Thanks, PreSounus!! P.S. The music behind this video is awesome, as one would expect it to be. Good job on creating the video.

Looks like Presonus is doing some revolution on DAW and notation...

I bought Notion2 back in 2013 for $199 when it was on two CD's so you always had backup. The price I see advertised now is $149. I presume this is an upgrade price. Click on my name and you can hear my Piano Concerto No 2 written in Notion 2 which was great even then. I thought the realism of the sounds was leagues ahead of of Finale and most definitely Sibelius which were $500 more expensive. Now that I am retired from composing I cannot test Notion6 but the hand-notation feature alone is worth the price.

I love my new Notion 6, it's so easy to work with! I would love to be able to move the clefs between lines so that I can move C clef to the fifth line. Thank you, keep up!

I'm new to this software. I'm a composer myself and am seeking a good software that I can use to plug into my keyboard and transfer what I play to it. Basically, compose my music in writing as I play. Is there such software out there? Is this the one for new or intermediate composers? Can anyone help me lol!?

I need to know how to sync Vienna SE with Notion 6. It worked (minus articulations) with the Vienna Key, but Vienna has discontinued this key (like an ilok) and Vienna has not worked on my scores since. Any thoughts?

The CUT TIME SIGNATURE is missing, it's been almost 10 years overdue, as well as classical guitar's HINGE BAR, PARTIAL BAR and FULL BAR. By 'bar' I mean the guitar BARRE', not the MEASURE. Thanks.

When you send from studio one to notion or vice versa where is all the notation? Crescendo? Sforzando? Phrasing? Is pitch and rhythm the only thing that notion can transfer in and out of the program? Everything else has to be manually written into the score even if it was already programmed into the midi performance?

I like the look of this, would I be able to play from my keyboard and the notation appear in the score onscreen?

What about sound recognition without midi input? Can I do that just by playing normal keyboards

What is the use of the scores that notion brings? The program can selectively read the parts of those scores or another imported?

Has Notion got around to fixing up their hopeless jazz chord functionality? I bought Notion 4 and felt totally ripped off when I found I couldn't write a standard jazz chord chart. Such a pity when everything else about the program seems so good.

How simple is this? Can I drag and drop notes and chords from a bank onto the music staff? Please help thanks

I am so frustrated with these complicated interfaces that I feel like giving up entirely. I have a limited time to make music and don't need to waste it on learning unneeded setups. How bout software that just records when you play.

Não recebi nada da Presonus para falar. Mas, nenhum software até hoje criado, seja: Sibeluis, Finale, Dorico, etc. etc. etc. etc. Não se compara ao Notion 6 da Presonus. O Notion 6 é quase perfeito em todos os aspectos que os melhores músicos e arranjadores possam imaginar. Além disso, o valor do Notion 6 é acessível, comparando-se com os editores que dizem ser os mais famosos, mas que tem o valor absurdo. Testei todos os editores de partituras possíveis, mas o NOTION 6 é o superior. (Não precisa discussão, testem e comparem as funções de cada Software, e vocês irão concordar que o NOTION 6 é o melhor.

Very disappointed, my Notion does not work. Do not touch the timbres, when importing MIDIfiles crashes, it slows down my work a lot. Windows updated, Notion updated. Almost giving up and going for another solution.

I downloaded the demo version but it constantly crashes, I hope the devs fix it. Then I will think about buying the paid version.

Please consider redoing the Notion Score Library. The arrangements are bad in terms of dynamics and articulation. I was seriously disappointed when I heard those score samples, but I know that Notion 6 can do a lot better than that. So please try to improve those samples.

Notion 6 could be so good. Unfortunately the complete lack of useable midi controllers without a hugely convoluted method through the unfathomable "rules" system renders this software strictly notation only. You are not going to get anywhere near a convincing sounding performance out of any score made with it. You would have to export out and import back from a decent DAW like Cubase several times to get approaching a believable performance, but even then much of the cc data is deleted. The notation bit is good to be fair, but still far short of what Sibelius can do. Somehow this software seems to have been developed by people who have no interest in, or expertise in, what an orchestra can do. For example the bundled sounds have woodwind and most other instruments that have ZERO vibrato. That would be ok if you apply a small midi vibrato to it, but you cannot without going through enormously complex tweaking; midi control messages are a complete nightmare to set up. Non vibrato woodwind and strings creates a horrid phasing/organ effect caused by two similar sounds too close in pitch and timbre when processed through sample software. Midi controller useability is absolutely crucial to any digital arranging or composing package. In Notion 6, even when using better samples from third party samplers, you have to create a highly restrictive "sequencer" track over the top of an orchestral part to get any hint of control but it is very poor in the control you can apply, and if you import a midi file from somewhere else all the control data is LOST!! This package concentrates on a simple interface which is not very flexible. It is ok for strictly rough sketches or for getting a score from another decent sequencer that is imported. But in its current state it is not going to be useful for anything like what it claims. What a shame. It could have been a decent package.The developers just haven't thought things through from a composer or arranger's point of view. They need someone on their team who is an expert in midi control techniques. Even Sibelius is now offering quite detailed midi control functions after years of stubbornly being left behind. Of course Presonus/Notion wants you to also buy their Studio One package which is perhaps why they deliberately left out useable midi functions, or use rewire to connect with other DAWs in order to compensate for the flaws in Notion 6.. In this day and age, it is not enough just to offer notation. If only Cubase could come up with a comprehensive and improved notation function. Dorico might well achieve that but it is very expensive and is barely out of Beta stage.

Your software has decent notation capabilities but is ultimately of little use due to poor MIDI CC control. Please, PLEASE IMPROVE IT. Using VSTs, MIDI needs to be recorded with a physical controller, which is clumsy beyond belief. MIDI CC can't be controlled ANY other way (except for expression via hairpins, which is, again, not enough). And even for that you need a new staff and then connect that staff to another, etc. It's just a major pain in the ass and terribly inefficient. To people who are looking to VST-plugins with a notation program, steer clear of Notion. As of 12.12.2016, they still haven't implemented proper MIDI CC controlling, which is essential for using VSTs.

Great, but instead of the mindless EDM track, why not play examples of the sampled sounds, and/or have a bit of human narration? Is that too personal for the 21st century? 🤷‍♂

hello there @PreSonus Audio Electronics, i just got notion 6 and miroslav philharmonik 2 for better sounds. i'm running into trouble applying the rules i found for notion 5 miroslav philharmonik 1 online. would you by any chance know where i can find the rules for philharmonik 2 for notion 6 or how i can apply them?

So you're marketing a software product for orchestral scores and string composition, and... you have EDM dominating the product video... nice. This promotional has EDM all over it. The Studio 4 Professional promotional video doesn't even have a singer or real instrument playing. It's all EDM and samples. WHOEVER your product marketing manager is. They should be fired tomorrow. Or just admit EDM is the focus of Presonus software.
