It was a revolutionary style change in 1959. The first thing I noticed, when I got up close to one as a 9 year-old, was the deep dash due to the sloping windshield. Some teens in our town literally wrapped one around a telephone poll to the extent that both ends of the car ended up touching with the car completely split in half on the opposite side. Six young men miraculously walked away from it that night. The car remained at the local towing company for a while so we all got to see it.
