Pompey fan here, the Cowley's are great! Obviously in the end it didn't work out for them with us, but that's just football sometimes. Trust me, these chaps are a FANTASTIC appointment for you.
Pompey supporter here. These guys will make you fall in love with football again. Great people with genuine passion for the game. Looking forward to seeing Colchester climb the table. ⚽️⚽️
As a Lincoln fan (albeit living in Western Australia now) they totally transformed the club I have followed for over 50 years and turned them from non-league underachievers to a League 1 team in 4 amazing years, including a Wembley final (which I flew over for and got to meet Danny the following week) and two superb promotions, let alone an epic FA Cup run to the quarter finals against Arsenal (as a non-league club) which laid the groundwork for an amazing legacy of structure and resources at the club, which cannot be under-estimated. Fantastic people who really know how to organise and motivate a team and relate to the community and supporters. Very sad when they left but understand they wanted to test themselves at a higher level. Great appointment - I honestly think you guys will be back in L1 very soon. 👍
A superb signing and arguably your signing of the season they will connect the community massively and two absolute blinders of people and will move heaven and earth to get Colchester moving the right way and will only sign the players with the right attitude. Thankyou for all you did with the Imps
After following Colchester since 1960 never felt so excited for the future. Not been to game for about 6 years now i think i could be persuaded to go again. Come on Us
Pompey fan here - they made some fantastic signings and by all accounts wonderful people to boot. Never made excuses when things got tough and had a difficult job weeding out some bang average players on big wages that they inherited. I've no doubt they will be better off building a team in their image - which was tough under pressure at Fratton Park. Good luck and will watch the results with interest.
Good luck Danny and Nicky Cowley absolute fantastic people it just didn't work out at Portsmouth but I hope you do really well in the league too fantastic men from Portsmouth supporter
Best managerial appointment for the club since Parky. Genuinely excited, and hope they can turn the clubs fortunes around. Its gonna take time, but with patience and backing, this could be the start of something really special
Portsmouth fan here, they know football very well and lovely blokes. Didn't really work out with us or Huddersfield but wish them all the best at Colchester
Wishing you every success with Danny & Nicky from another Pompey fan. Just echoing previous comments, firstly, great people but also unlucky to leave Pompey. Fan patience is low after so many seasons in L1 and they inherited some rubbish. They've definitely got an eye for a player, bringing in Hirst, Bazunu and Carter on loan. It didn't work out at Fratton Park but hoping they're the right fit at Colchester United. PUP!
I have been awaiting this appointment since the miracles performed at Braintree around 15 years ago. Everyone l have spoken to is elated to have the Cowley boys finally getting to work on putting Colchester United back on the football map.
Danny was at the Orient game against Wycombe on 27th Dec. Expected him to go to Wycombe. A really good appointment for Colchester. Just needs the money to do a job.
Pompey fan here, cowleys are passionate people and will work hard for your club, only downside is sometimes they talk a good job, and fear the opposition to much.
pompey fan here, best of luck to the cowleys, colchester have hired a very hard working couple, they work hard and deserve success, very sad it didn’t work out for them at fratton park
Danny cowley kept on about lets see what we have got in the building and let's get in the building and look out. What the hell does that mean. Colchester will always be where they are. No players no money no decent backing no support no hope.
We have scraped the bottom of the barrel apointing these 2 who have been run out of town on their last 2 jobs so i am not happy. predict they will be gone by Easter......back to Braintree?
Really ? Run out of Town, or disliked by Portsmouth fans who have very high expectations? At Huddersfield they worked a miracle to avoid relegation and were sacked unluckily. At Lincoln they transformed not just the club, but the City, they got everyone onboard and within 10 months from their appointment Lincoln were National League also rans to champions. Oh, and they were FA Cup quarter finalists too. Oh, and they also got them promoted to league 1 2 years later. If they can do half of that at Colchester I don't think there will be any complaints.
you dont get the sack for being unlucky....get the facts in order. .Ran out the back door at lincoln whilst under contract and had blown the playing budget out of the water, had to unload all high earners otherwise club would have gone bust( smart directors dough got the promotion, their only 1 in pro football. hoofball and sending first teams lads on 25k a week to play with the youths put the owners nose out of joint and that style of footy guaranteed their sacking. At POMPEY THEY LOST THE PLAYERS DRESSING ROOM AND the fans too and couldnt buy a win but the same squad now are promotion bound. lets judge them on the results on the pitch and not wet our pants over new manager mumbo jumbo first interviews....seen it all before hopefully they will kick arse and get Big JOHN firing bullets and turn Tom into a 20 goal a season striker. playoffs still a possibility.😊
Fair play, never disliked the pair of em.Can’t fault their commitment but wait till the after game interviews, will tie you up in knots with the big words and stuff…dont think the Pompey players understood to be honest but will keep an eye on Colchester, wish em all the best PUPPPU
