I think it's great the BBC encourages new writers. What I find frustrating is that all British expats are excluded. So not really an "open door" policy. You could literally have just got off the boat at Dover and not speak a word of English and yet be eligible to submit to the Writers Room competitions and submission windows. But the Brits who grew up in the UK yet work abroad are left out in the cold. You let the Irish in; couldn't you at least extend it to writers with British nationality?
