***** Hi Liz, great question! At this moment, the Lily Camera does not have any obstacle avoidance capabilities (cost and design choice). We have found that most outdoor activities do not need obstacle avoidance because Lily can follow the user's path. But again there are no guarantees that Lily will not hit anything while it is following you. If Lily is about to hit an object you can press the middle button on the tracking device and Lily will stop, hold its position, and continue to film you.

Lily Because it has no obstacle detection, will it be usable for mountain biking where there is a lot of coverage from the trees?

My first thought would have been to use it walking down the road, but there are trees and power lines everywhere

David Jashi This already exists, but with a different company. Many drones were used for broadcast of the Olympics and the X Games. this is a toy compared to those, search Dji S1000 and check out some videos.

bazk Right now Lily's flight time is approximately 20 minutes on a full battery charge. Depending on how fast Lily is flying, it could be slightly less or slightly more.

Lily Yepp, 20 minute flight time but unfortunately it takes 2 hours to fully charge and the battery isn't swappable so your really only gonna be able to use Lily once or twice a day depending on where you are.

One hour in ur dreams ..most flight time of drones is 20 to 25 min

bazk Have you heard about the new racing series called Formula E? If not, here is a quick explanation: Formula E is an all electric single-seater championship that focuses on the environment. All the races happens on street courses around the world. They also switch cars mid-race. My theory is that after they're done with this season, and teams finally are able to start R&D, it will most likely enhance battery life, make electric motor's more powerful etc etc. The entire driver swapping cars during a race is not really convenient, so I think the first thing we will see once engineers are able to start Research and Develop, is a huge improvement in battery life

Alexander Popov It is not possible to fly Lily manually. Lily takes care of the flying so you can enjoy your activity. However, you can change Lily's position from the tracking device or companion app to frame your shot.

Joshua Masterson Except a Phantom isn't waterproof. Advantage of a Phantom is mechanised gimbal and I expect the video quality is better - all the Lily shots are in sunlight, what happens as it moves from sunlight to shadow or shooting into the sun?

As it says on the page right below the videos: As you can see in this footage, there are three image quality issues : fisheye distortion, wobble, and stabilization. The team is on it, addressing each issue as follows: The current dampening and wiring cause internal vibrations, resulting in wobble. We are adjusting the durometer of the vibration dampening system and re-assembling the wires to ensure this wobble is removed. The unbalanced fisheye distortion is caused by a mistuning of the external polycarbonate lens. We have already re-tuned the external lens and this issue will not appear on the production version. Our electronic stabilization software (EIS) was not used in this video. We will be porting this piece to the unit in the coming days and expect much better performance. More on that soon.

Lily Would it be able to fly in high winds? I would try kitesurfing with it, in winds from 15-30 mph. I've used the DJI phantom, which has a gps connector that allows it to stay in the same position, but the phantom doesn't autotrack or have water resistance, so this is DEFINITELY on the wishlist!

Lily There's goes my dreams of attaching the wrist tracking thingy to my disc for drives playing disc golf where they travel at speeds between 60 - 90 mph. In the meantime I need to find a way to have it play my theme music while it follows me all day and live stream it. Cool product you have, Lily!

Lily Cool. I could do some light wind kiting with my 15 or 12 meter kite, and put it on the sideways shot mode so it doesn't hit my lines. I want one so bad! Thanks for responding guys, you seem like a really cool company!

Lily I practice biking downhill, it would be amaizing if lily could follow me in the forest… but I suppose that's quite hard to do in a short term... Anyway your product its impressive !! Thanks for your response!!

Lily Can it recover very well if it does hit something, or is it probably going to fall and get damaged? If it does get damaged, how durable is it? Not that I would plan on making it fly into things if I bought one, but it's nice to know those sorts of things.

Wesker Power I would rather purchase a dji phantom 3 or a solo 3drobotics drone (I am more interested in it filming), but this is still impressive. There are ways they could improve like having removable batteries, granted I am no engineer and there are probably reasons for the moment that it is fixed. other areas such as obstacle ovediance and a 4k camera are also things that could be added (which I am sure they have thought of as well, probably 1080p for price). but 3 hours battery is impossible right now. you minus will be asking it to have a built in AI, be capable of lifting your wait, and a holographic projection system as well. because that is how likely 3 hours battery life is (with our current level of technology), maybe in 10 years time it will have 1.5 hour battery life.

Wesker Power Solar panels! solar panels would NEVER produce enough power to run it, look at the surface area. and what do you mean "power it with gas", I'm not sure what you mean, but I'm almost certain it want work. do you not understand engineering. a car sized drone following them, well that would be very expensive, if it falls out of the sky it will kill someone and we already have things called helicopters. what are you doing that you need more than 30mins of continues recording? (like I said removable battery fixes the battery length issue). I am skeptical if this will succeed, but for different reasons. because of country regulations and the drones avoidance system may make this a hard sell. but people will happily buy it with 30mins battery. dji phantom 2 and 3 have about that battery wise and they sell like crazy.
