That's a damn impressive robot, especially dancing down the stairs at the end. Those quasi direct drives are like $350 each at retail and you have 12 of them in there... wow things are coming along fast!

The $1,600 price is for the BARE robot in China. Import duty and shipping to the US adds like another $1K to the price. And then it is the BARE robot. You do not get the upgraded computers that enable the behaviors seen in the video. But still, the price for the basic hardware is impressive

If the Chinese didn't make it for cheaper the Americans would be asking $20k

i find it truly impressive how in the video they tried to ask the robot to do one useful thing and it couldn't do it now this is a technological dystopia i can get behind

For everyone excited about the $1600 price point, that is the price for the “Air” model which doesn’t support the “side follow system”, “voice”, and ChatGBT code generation (no CPU). I imagine it’ll just be a basic remote controlled dog for $1600. The pro model with the above features is $2800, nearly double that price

I had been working to design a robot joint that could be built for about $80 per joint (12 * 80 ~= $1000). The BLDC motor, the driver electronics, and gears are really hard to do at that price point. But it looks like they did it. If these sell for $1,600 that is better than I could do if I built one myself. So what is left? Only the hard part: Programming it to do something more interesting than the canned demos.

It would be really cool if this robot could also call 911 in case of an emergency or is layered with some sort of protection for women. Idk if it does already but I haven’t seen it in anything I looked at about it

Im not well informed about these robots so Idk if they maybe have something like this but I think especially for women but also in general a robot companion for outside with flashlight and maybe some sort of alarm system would be nice. Something you can feel safer with

Imagine this "pets" working for oppressive state police. Imagine them equiped with weapons and programed to punish all kinds of insubordinations...

Can it carry the shopping? Or better yet expensive gear when you go camping? Carrying things would be awesome! So the human would only have to carry batteries for it.

It's impressive but I'm more concerned about the software. And when it comes to stairs, the robot needs to be able to analyze them and plan its motion so that it could speed up the steps if needed instead of that slow creep. If it's meant to follow me for whatever purpose that would serve and I walk up steps, it can't be 30 steps behind me as a carefully plots each step knowing that each step is the same distance and height as the last... Things we take for granted especially when I watch my dog race of stairs at break neck speeds

We're about to order a GO2 at work, merely as an eyecatcher for promotional activities. I nearly got permission for a real Spot from Boston Dynamics, but my boss couldn't swallow the $100k+ price tag... Does the GO2 Pro come with all the nifty features as shown in the video or would I need the $20k educational version for that?

I need a special order: Lemme get one of these doggies but the size of a small horse. I need for a person of 170 lbs to be able to ride it as if it were a normal horse. I need the "beg" stance modified to "box", as in box like a damn kangaroo. I'll also need an "additional organ" installed on the robot as well as a pump that will give it the ability to "urinate" on things with malt liquor from a 40oz bottle "bladder". Gonna need it to have a variety of voices too, but they'll mostly be those of big cats. Lastly, the beast will need a small vaporizer installed at it's posterior with a reservoir of ammonium sulfide which can be triggered at will.

Cool Technic and a cool Dog. Its my dream to have one of these One day. Unfortunately ill have to save up for a loooooong time to afford one.

This looks like a knock-off version of Boston Dynamics, but come on it only costs $1,600, and no one will refuse that price. 80% of the performance at 1% of the price.

interesting evolution of the gigapet. I don't like the privacy implications. All those sensors roaming your place and sharing with who? Would be cool as a knome replacement with a with a drill attachment to protect package deliveries.

I would love to work with a product like this. It would give my apartment complex something to talk about. Unfortunately, the medical copayments for two recent hospital stays will delay the investment. Important note: Unitree took the time to design transportable robots. They fit inside a car or its trunk. Try that with some of the early customer service robots.

It needs 2 arms with hands that fold into its back. And legs that telescope up so it can reach sinks laundry machines and stoves. Then you will have a universal robot capable of doing anything for you while having an intelligent dog companion.

Amazing how the costs have fallen. These robots could do so much, security patrols, litter picking - in fact we could do with fruit picking and vegetable picking versions.

I just want it to do two things. Take pictures of intruders in the yard or in house and bark loud AF like a pitbull when someone rings the door bell when im not home. If it can do that, then yes here take my money. If not, i dont need this, everything in the video that they showed gives me absolutely no reason to buy it. PS: And when i say make it bark loud AF like a real dog, i mean it. Not a low volume that the person ringing door bell cant hear. So you have to upgrade the speakers on this robot with some good loud AF speakers.
